  • Being able to take the role of Cap, Spiderman or Hawkeye in modern gaming is simply great..but what did a kid of the 1980s do when he wanted to be Thor, Iron Man or Wolverine. They grabbed a copy of Marvel Superheroes RPG

    Marvel Super Heroes RolePlaying game is the greatest superhero roleplaying game ever. Simple design and easy rule system always makes the best gaming system.

    I began my Venture into role-playing back in 1987 with the Marvel superhero Advanced set. To this very day it is my very favorite superhero RPG bar none. FASERIP Is the only game in town for me when it comes to superhero. It had a few kinks in the rules but those awesome folks over at Classic Marvel forever iron out a lot of those making it much more understandable and with supplements like the ultimate Powers book and the Marvel Universe character books you can fashion any kind of super being that you wanted to bar none

    My dad introduced this game to my siblings and I when we got old enough to understand the game. It's fun! I love using my imagination to create new superheros in the Marvel universe. Glad my dad introduced this game to us.

    Great overview. I loved this game as a kid, and I recently created a private game in Roll20 for my friends. The provided character sheet works well.

    This was an awesome system. I’ve even adapted it to sci-fi and fantasy. And assigned power ranking to skills and talents.
    Hulk wins. Hulk always wins. Used to have a four map slugfest throwing everyone at him.

      LOL...i love this game too and the system. Its unique and workable and yea does translate to other games types. I am also a bit of a fan of the d6 system old star wars used as well as shadowruns

    The Reed Richards Guide to everything was not a new edition of Marvel Superheroes it was a new game using an entirely different rules set with a radically different set of mechanics. I do not recall Jeff grub designing that one at all.

      You're right. And it was a great game. Not using dice at all, but cards. There were a whole bunch of books but the game didn't last very long.

    This takes me back. We'd play this in middle school. We'd get to school about an hour early and play, during lunch, and on weekends at my house or another friend's. I loved it. I never got into D&D, but I LOVED Marvel. The dice were awesome. I kinda wish I could get back into it now. All you need is your imagination.

    I played the game from 1988 to 1996. We moved on to other things such as Vampire and the two following incarnations of Marvel. This month, we are moving back to Marvel with the same people I played that original game with. We might even be picking up our old characters but giving them a 25 year update.

      @@ComicBookNostalgia There were several comic book creators and talent that did Twitch livestream of Marvel games as a charity fundraiser for Friendly local Comic Shops closed by COVID. They played various Avengers [Vision, USAgent, Moon Knight, Rage, Hellcat, The Thing, Wasp [Russian daughter of Pym]]. Viewers could unlock features for the players through donations to the charity: unlocking reserved character [like Iron Man], unlocking Power Stunts, upgrading results for character FEATS.

    I used to play this game with the comic book cards and the books it was fun I wish they would remake it again and it would be a little cheaper but it's very expensive on eBay I think games need to go back to the basics or if they make a system game make it more like this incredible game

      @@Jayce_Alexander Question about combat. Lets say I have Hulk vs Vision. Hulk picks up bolder and throws it at vision, the roll is a success, does that mean Vision takes damage (Hulk's Strength vs Vision's Agility) or do I have to make an agility roll to see if Vision escapes. I know I can make the combat play out how ever I want, but I'd like to know how the official combat rules play out.

    • @maverickgames9551
      @maverickgames9551 5 лет назад +2

      @@KaijudoMaster11 If vision did not make a dodge action then the boulder hits. Interesting note however. Damage is not done based on hulks strength for the hit. It is based on the material strength of the boulder ( probably Incredible 40) . In this case Hulk actually does less damage when throwing objects that he would just straight up hitting with his fists. The exception to the rule is if the material strength of the object being wielded is higher than a players actual Strength stat ( in hulks case it would have to be a rock made out of Uru!) then the damage done is equal to the wielding characters strength score +1CS on the universal table.
