HONESTLY!! how could they hate on a mother pleading for people to stop attacking her daughter? Netizens have been truly evil to ITZY since their debut.
Seriously!!! Seeing her popularity now and people praising her looks is bittersweet because i can't forget how people berated her during Itzy's debut era. Like, you only acknowledge her talents now that you think she is beautiful (even though she was beautiful from the start)?
right ! and it breaks my heart everytime, she deserves love and praise, definitely deserved it from the start! she was always pretty. she’s grown so confident in over the years and im proud of her for it, and you can definitely tell that netizens care about looks in groups (which doesn’t make sense to me, everyone is beautiful in their own way) !! :-(
Makes me sad that her story is another example of how people really do treat you differently based on how you look. She deserves love now but she also deserved it from the start. She was always pretty.
She's so sweet, since Sixteen. How can anyone hate a person like her is beyond me. How harshly do you have to be treated on your day to day life to treat a person like her badly. Some people are either monsters or think talking online is consequence-free.
@@Realunmaker People seems to be like this now whenre being prettier is much important than what is a person personality and treat them like garbage. It's really sad.
It's a fact that people treat others better if they look more appealing to them. Look at all those serial killers. Never would they have gotten the chance to invite someone over to their place without knowing them. If they were ugly for victim.
I literally cried while reading that letter. I can’t imagine being so excited that your daughter can achieve her dreams and then seeing hundreds of horrible comments about her appearance. That has to be so painful for her mother.
The way her mom is begging to leave her daughter alone it really broke me in pieces. No parents wants to see their child hurt and read themselves the mean comments to their child.
@Hairy Titties & The Moist Clitoria Yes, we know but her hate got out of hand. Imagine being the main member being hated on for the way you look. No matter how thick skinned you are this stuff can affect you, especially at the age of 19. Not to mention that the time her mum posted it, she recently debuted so I’m sure being a new idol and receiving this much hate can be overwhelming to anyone.
and then to have those same losers reply to her saying "mother, it's a fact your kid is ugly." that's so uncalled for and heartbreaking. everyone knows that criticism will inevitably happen. to this extent? where does that get anyone? hasn't anyone learned from the sulli situation to keep your negative opinions on subjective topics to yourself? you can simply say you don't like her visual and move on, to sit there and say "she looks like a japanese monkey with a long nose" is fucked up and says more about you than her. she's been putting up with those comments since before she even debuted. she could have easily ended herself over that, she easily could have snapped and said some things that would've ended her career, she easily could've ended up with worse mental health issues. but she's putting up with it and hasn't caved in to the point where she's getting plastic surgery. and then the moment she gets plastic surgery y'all haters would STILL give her shit because now she's "not natural" and she's "fake". let the girl fucking breathe for crying out loud. she isn't ugly. the only ugliness i see are from the haters who feel so entitled to vocalize their shitty opinions and only little b*tch asses with that same toddler mentality will agree with them. she endured all of that and yet she is still a successful idol. at the end of the day she's the one on stage raking in cash and the haters are the ones crying behind a screen hating her for the most ridiculous shit. this type of hate will lead her to deal with severe mental health issues. we're already seeing it with how sensitive she gets over the topic of her looks, and the way she's starving herself. i genuinely can't understand how people can hate someone to this extent when we don't even know them personally. it sounds like a huge waste of time and energy. karma always finds a way. i truly hope karma kicks their asses. i don't find a lot of idols attractive but i can at least appreciate their talents and efforts, and congratulate them when they get a win or still support them through a debut if i enjoy their group. visuals aren't everything. stop thinking with your dicks and pussies and use your eyes and ears to watch and listen to their talents. she's an AMAZING dancer and has some decent vocals. that's literally all i care about in a group because i don't sit there watching music videos all day long, i listen to their music and envision the dancing. i couldn't care less if she was stick thin or morbidly obese. as long as shes happy that's all i want. she can't be happy when appeasing to the haters because she's losing herself along the way.
@Hairy Titties & The Moist Clitoria you shouldn't have to worry about that shit. if people would just stop being harsh, the world would be a better place.
@Hairy Titties & The Moist Clitoria I'm sorry but wtf? Just because hate is somehow part of the parcel does not mean this amount of ridiculous hate especially about their looks should be tolerated. Getting dragged for being 'ugly' being photoshopped out of the group because you 'don't belong' at this level is NOT NORMAL, no wonder her mom begged people to stop, there's a limit to everything and chaeryeong didn't deserve any of that.
it makes me so mad how people suddenly switched teams and were all over her new look calling it a “GLOW UP” as if she was ugly before. LIKE BITCH SHE WAS BEAUTIFUL, korean standards are just downright crazy, and the hate she received to the point where her mother had to plead for people to stop is just so heartbreaking.
What on earth are you on about?? Hollywood has absolutely asinine beauty standards that have led so many celebrities to paying thousands to look deformed…it’s sad. Each entertainment industry in most nations have some pressures when it comes to beauty…it’s not a “Korean” thing. Do y’all say this about the US too in regards to Hollywood?? Or just other countries? 🙄🙄🙄
While true the standards aren’t that high.....she genuinely was just too heavy That didn’t warrant hate at all tho and it really is frustrating that suddenly we just gonna act like all is forgiven. I’ll never forget what knetizens did to Cherry 🙄
@@1CE. "genuinely too heavy" bro wtf the fact kpops harsh diet trends has really messed up everyones perception on how healthy and completely normal weight and humans look like..
@@amcutiechuu You do know it’s not hard to stay thin right? If you’re somehow exceeding your daily caloric intake consistently that’s an unhealthy problem I’m just gonna say it, y’all who complain about “strict diets” have no idea what you’re talking about and or are probably coping about your own weight issues Idols are active af, they eat right and are young. It’s expected they’re in good thin shape
Chaeryeong is one of the few idols who have really stuck it out despite all the hate from debut. She's finally getting the recognition she deserves and it seems to reflect how outgoing and happy she appears on TV these days. Unfortunately it came at the cost of her trying to change herself physically to meet more conventional beauty standards. I can't imagine what being told I'm ugly from my childhood into adulthood would do to my mental state. Chaeryeong really fought through a lot.
Her story is too common in the kpop world. For example, Yeri from Red Velvet was treated just as harshly. I hope that Cherry continues to overcome all the past and future obstacles with the grace and poise that she has already shown.
i was made fun of in middle school and i'm 23 now and i still have insecurity issues even though i don't look the same i did 10 years ago. that stuff sticks for a long time, i can't imagine how badly it hurt her
Yes!! She had really came a loooooooooong way!! I just don't know, but, if, I would have been in her place- I just freaking don't know how I would've managed all of it at once!! And feeling sorry for her. If anything gets in her way, every *suppportive* people will be out there to help such good and encourageous people😢 Still feeling sorry. I hope she lives and stays healthy the rest of life
I feel like she’s grown confident in her idol image over the years- and her “glow up” definetly contributed to that. Though I must admit her diet during their Harper’s bazaar interview did raise some eyebrows since she saw pills as a meal… I’m just glad to see her happier Edit: I remember netizens were harsh on her, even after her mother pleaded with them, but wow… I’m at a loss for words at how cruel and insensitive these people were smh
she definitely got her nutrients in since she knew she probably wouldn’t have time to eat but you definitely need some substance to keep you going which she does. she’s okay nutrient wise but the lack of fat in her meals doesn’t really give her muscles anything to eat so it just eats the fat on her body making her skinnier. the shaming definitely didn’t help in making her eat, obviously, netizens have no idea what they do.
I hope she is just getting more confident and not just eating the fake love from fans who are only praising her because she is bending to their toxic will and ideals. I also don't think she has had plastic surgery, the face and features stick out more when you are thinner.
i think unfortunately korean girls find stuff like that very normalized especially since there is a huge percentage of eating disorders from Asia. Another example is yeojin talking to fans where she proudly claimed she weight even less than when she did predebut ( disclaimer she is very underweight for her actual size) :/
Chaeryeong has always been beautiful and extremely hardworking. It's so sad how she finally got the recognition she's always deserved after undergoing plastic surgery and following such a strict diet. It breaks my heart how, after an idol changes physically and becomes more popular, they feel pressured to keep that image no matter the cost, just for the "fans" sake (such as what happened to Somi, Jimin, Felix, Rosé, Xiumin, IU, Wonyoung and many more). Everyone loves to say that JYP is a company that doesn't force their idols to diet or to get plastic surgery, and that might be the case. However, when they debut "natural looking" idols, or idols who are not a size 0, they get bodyshamed, they get the worst outfits and they're constantly told they're ugly by the korean public. No matter how strong and confident you think these idols are, most of them debut in their early teens, so they're extremely vulnerable and prone to developing anxiety, depression, eating disorders, etc. If we want future idols to succeed without getting broken by the industry in the process, we need to stop praising literal children being debuted and we need to stop putting companies on a pedestal when they're all just looking to profit from teen audiences and teen workers. Once you stop seeing SK through pink coloured glasses, you'll realize how in desperate need of change the whole kpop industry is.
Excuse me, she didn't have any plastic surgery. It's in their contract not to undergo any of those procedures. She just lost weight and do some contouring without undergoing the knife. You do know face contouring is a thing, right?
@@jojoannajojo "It's in their contract" All Itzy members have lip fillers, and some of them had their noses done. Have you seen Sullyoon? Sana? Momo? Nayeon? Felix? Hyunjin? Do i have to keep going...There's nothing wrong with plastic surgery. What's wrong is pretending all idols are born picture perfect, and getting upset about the idea of them going under the knife, which is completely natural in South Korea. Are you also going to tell me none of them had double eyelid surgery? The literal most popular procedure in their country? Plastic surgery is okay, i just sometimes wish idols didn't feel forced to change their appearance just to be praised by such an image obsessed society though.
@@mel.0n but she realy dont have any plastıc surgery she just lost weight if u look closely u can see it she dont have any surgery and yes is not a bad thing but realu she dont have and any other itzy members too
@@mikiarikurin Ofc she lost a lost of weight, wich probably made her lose some face fat, plus she got older. However, you can see how her nose became thinner and faces upwards ever since the mafia in the morning era (i think she got it retouched for sneakers + she got a chin shave or a jaw definition). Chaeryeong is incredibly beautiful, no one is denying that. Still, it's clear she started to get even more praise for her visuals ever since the mafia era. Don't you think that has a lot to do with the fact that it was around that time when she became thinner than ever, plus her facial features changed noticeably? It's sad but it's the truth, the korean public will always praise plastic visuals over natural ones.
It makes me so sad that people thought she was unattractive. She was the reason I got into kpop at all, I thought she was so gorgeous and compelling in not shy era, and she had this captivating unique look I hadn’t seen in a kpop idol before. She’s one of my favorite idols and she’s just so insanely talented too, she’s probably one of the best 4th gen dancers. but all of that gets thrown to the side when you aren’t conventionally pretty and adhere to societal standards.
Honestly I wish unique beauties were valued in kpop. It seems companies don’t want idols who stand out, they want idols that fit in to ridiculous beauty standards.
@@StanChunghaOrGoHome a lot of people praise hwasa but thats bc she has a pear shape. They talk bad about idols who have a different body shape. Like jeongyeon
I love and adore the Lee sisters. Chaeryeong and Lia where the first members I noticed in ITZY. They've gone through a lot. I remember her mum defending her, people are so carelessly cruel. Kindness is free.
There’s something really sad about a girl group based around the concept of empowerment and independence, being yourself and not caring what other people think, where all the members have had plastic surgery and almost all of them have had drastic weight fluctuations. At the end of the day they’re still victims of the K-pop industry and Korean culture in general.
Yes in the end it's just marketing. Suddenly more girl groups are having girl boss concepts but in reality nothing really has changed. They sing about empowerment but they are still held to the same beauty standards, are in a male dominated industry and were choosen because they are pretty. It's just that empowerment is "in" and sells well
thank you for pointing that out, it's the one thing that bothers me so much with ITZY. I started to like them for exactly those messages and the way they seemed to not conform to the standart for a bit (I mean the sliiiiiiiightly healthier look the members supported) and then that all got thrown out of the window and they changed themselves a lot. Obviously, the members are not to blame here, it's the fucking shitty industry. But it makes me sad ☹ It's harder for me to support them since I'm not a fan of a lot of their new releases, but I hope that will change in the future again. Kpop is really awful about these things.
"You don't have to like her, but please just don't hurt my child." Has me literally crying. People really don't view idols as human beings with family and friends who are also affected by the bullying they endure. She is absolutely gorgeous, there is nothing wrong with her at all. As an "unnie", I just want to hug all these young idols who have been bullied and harassed by the public. I can't imagine the pain and mental trauma it causes at such a young age to have your looks picked apart by millions of people while all you want to do is sing and dance. 💔
She has always been beautiful :( I always liked her since sixteen. People never gave her a chance, so many of us were stumpy kids until we grow up. She just grew into her features, her face looks balanced because she's an adult now. Plus natural black hair always looks the best on idols.
That is true but it’s also the weight loss, cutting out sodium too probably The black hair and makeup contouring only helps more there too. Maybe highlights her cheekbones or something? The makeup is definitely different now
You gotta do one on ryujin, her weight has changed quite a bit although it wasn’t “drastically” but she sure is thinner than she was at debut and that was considered her “thinnest” era.
Uhmm... Ryujin maintain her hourglass figure until mafia in the morning era. The pandemic restrictions lose a bit and they had their first fanmeet during pandemic. Many Midzy was shock on her weight loss and went viral. Her thigh is slimmer and her waist is about 2-4 inch smaller that MITM Era but her hips width is maintained. It fits the KBS more so general Kpop fans like it same as I. 2 or 3 weeks after the fanmeeting they released the Loco. Ofc they praise her figure, small waight, small thigh and maintained wide hips. Sneakers era, many international fans was worried about her weight loss but for Koreans that's pretty normal. She looks like her Dalla dalla Era but with ant waist and smaller hips and bust than Dalla Dalla Era. Tbh, she looks healthier than Wonyoung.
Yuna ryujin and char have lost a lot of weight and coincidentally they've been exposing more skin in some performances as if they're trying to keep with other 4th gen gg's
her icy body was more on the toned side rather than bloated tbh, either way she worked so hard for so many years and she deserves more love from the world
@@ccryann I don't think so. Her face looked on the verge of how alcoholics look when bloated before they get red spots over their cheeks. Also your face can look like that when you binge/purge. You never know what extremes idols might go to when struggling with weight.
@@meelamiela the thing is people are so used to idols looking too thin thats why they think face fat is bloated lmao 😭 chaeryeong is so so far from being bloated like how could a girl in her 20's that weighs 50kg less considered as bloated
We live in a society where talent isn't important anymore unless you're pretty. But this is the sad reality: your abilities doesn't count anymore after all the hardwork. I am so happy to see that chaeryeong is now happier and confident as before. She's been confident before till all the hate and mean words. One word can really change a person thoughts about themselves, so learn to be kind and look at yourself in the mirror before posting online something harash.
Unfortunately, people always cared about looks. Always, in ancient times as well as in prehistory. It's just like humans biologically work. That's why I'm mad people shame others for wanting to look their best or getting surgeries.
A K-Pop scoutmaster explained best "we want somebody that does both talent and beauty, there a million of people that would do anything for a chance " is a competitive industry no matter how talented you are there is someone younger and prettier that could surpass you
Her mothers letter makes me cry every time I hear about it. Like imagine having to beg millions of people not to hurt your child I can’t even imagine how hard that must’ve been for Chaeryeong, her sister, and her mom.
They all looked so healthy during icy/wannabe/not shy era 😭 I am so sad Chaeryoung doesn't like her muscular legs that much, I love them and I'd love to have such muscles on my legs
Chaeryeong has to be one of the few idols that looks amazing regardless of gaining or losing weight . Her proportions are insane. About her not being pretty, maybe is a cultural thing, but I always found her really pretty.
This is such a screwed comment. So apparently some idols don’t look good gaining or losing weight? You don’t sound any different from a netizen. They all look fine despite their weight.
chaeryeong was literally THE member than shined. she always caught my eye because she was an amazing performer. she has the most unique look. i loved her for who she is. those people are so cruel. she is amazing and will keep shining.
i personally liked that itzy has unique features. it's good to see not every idol fitting the same mold in terms of beauty standard. it makes itzy feel more relatable which fits their teen crush concept.
I think the reason for Chaeryeong's weight gain during Icy era was probably a result of the intense dieting the Group had to do in preparation for their debut, because everyone was super skinny during Dalla Dalla era while, Icy was the era where they all gained weight. I remember a lot of international fans praised her body for looking like a dancer's body and at first, she didn't seem to have a huge issue with it but like always, "fans" came for her and Lia's looks and it just got worse from there. I'm glad to see she has a some confidence nowadays but it's so horrible to think it was all taken away,at the beginning of her career, just because so many people disliked her for no logical reason😭
Chaeryoung picking at her food is heartbreaking. It's very obvious that she has an ED and her constantly talking/obsessing over dieting just proves that. Netizens are honestly disgusting. Bullying a young girl for having a COMPLETELY normal, healthy body and an "average" face when I bet MOST of them look the same or worse than her. The projection is insane. I really hope it won't end badly for Chaeryoung and that she gets help. It all just makes me incredibly sad :(
Never thought I'd get sad at seeing Chaeryeong on one of these videos. At this point Yeji is the only member of Itzy that stayed consistent from debut until now since Yuna was seen as "too skinny", Ryujin was seen as "thick thighs" but lost weight as well and Lia also was at her lowest during the Wannabe era. Anyway, this just comes to show that netizens will never be happy with any idol.
O my god the comments from the korean netizens are pure venom and the ratio of likes to dislikes is sickening. I'm glad Chaeryeong is at the apex of her underdog story! She was always my bias as her personality is infectious!
What's really sad is that most of her "unflattering" features were a result of unflattering makeup/style. In the Vlives which she wears little to no makeup, she looked much better than on stage with makeup. In the later comebacks where she get styled with more natural colors, her beauty is truly highlighted. It was the clash of colors between her orange-ish hair, and bright pink lipsticks in the early days of ITZY. Bight pink lipstick in general tends to make people's features look very flat in comparison to the lips, and it usually clashes with the natural tone of the person's skin. I personally think bright pink lipstick should be a crime because of numerous cases like this. For short, really bad color palettes. Now in the most recent comebacks, she has darker hair, which matches with practically any makeup and colors. They aren't giving her a full lip of bright pink lipstick, and now she also has much more confidence as the change is colors is finally not clashing, which just adds to highlighting her natural beauty. To think theoretically a lot of harassment could've been avoided if the stylist just knew color theory better.
@@qiaragonzales4903 Red lipstick is under the same crime. A full lip of lipstick on people without really full lips, never actually looks good. It out shines the rest of the face’s features, making it look flat. Similarly with pink lipstick. Very bright colors in general do this without a full bright eyeshadow look.
@@_Meretriciousyah her middle third is big than upper and lower third they should've done something to highlight it and dark or sparkly undereyes Something like they did in sneakers era she suits that makeup
It seems like they did a personal color analysis on her at some point post-debut then started implementing the results. I’ve thought the same as you for many years - she’s such a beautiful girl cursed with unflattering makeup and a vengeful makeup artist. The camera is incredibly unforgiving and all that flat bright pink lipstick was doing her no favors. I liked the reddish hair color she had back then, but they really needed to adjust their makeup & outfit coloring to flatter it; sometimes it felt like they were intentionally clashing but it just never hit right. Her current styling is so much more flattering and finally showcases her natural beauty. Btw, if you ever submit a petition for laws against bright pink lipstick crimes - hit me up, I’ll sign in a heartbeat. These makeup artists must pay for their crimes against beauty & humanity.
I have so much respect for her. And though she is self conscious about her legs I think her legs look awesome. The muscle looks good, it’s not bad! She works so hard I hope she can be happy now with her much deserved success.
I remember chaer saying How confident she always has been But the debut era made her feel like a loser.. The hate for being not pretty, the hate for being fat all broke her strength, her confidence... only if people knew how beautiful and unique her features are how kind how talented she is!! It's Ridiculous how hate can make a gorgeous confident and talented people feel like a loser A weak human being...can make them hate themselves I feel sad... I feel hurt But now seeing my girl getting more and more Recognisation makes me happiest 😭❤️!! Love u keep growing my gurll
Broke my heart when I saw her cry cause of those stupid comments. She shouldn't had come across those comments at all. I hope she realizes MIDZYs will always love and compliment her no matter what throughout her idol path. She works too hard on herself and she's determined to set her mind on anything she does. I love her since debut and she'll forever be my bias ~💕
Chaeryeong has become my bias wrecker because I really admire her as a dancer, singer (which i don’t think enough people talk about how good she is at singing because of how much of a perfectionist she is at dancing) and she’s just an all around sweetheart who to me has always been beautiful. She reminds me of key from shinee. They don’t always catch your eyes at first glance but their personality will make you remember them. I don’t think she needed to lose weight. I think most of it was baby fat and just toning an already good body.
I'm not midzy but have loved the chaeyeon & chaeryeong sisters from debut, they were so charming and cute. i'm so glad to finally see everyone feeling the same way about chaeryeong, she deserves it.
Korean obsession with looks according to their narrow standards is vile, I swear. I've been listening to k-pop for more than a decade, and the amount of hate I've seen being thrown at their singers for not having a certain look is insane, and it shows no signs of stopping. So k-netizens really thought that attacking Chaeryeong's mom for asking, honestly too kindly, humanity towards her child, was a good look? Disgusting behaviour. What's even worse is that in their eyes, their hate is justified because they don't like her looks... too vile. That's why I've been only looking for good k-pop songs for years without interacting with netizens, fandoms or the whole k-pop culture in general, it's too insanse and toxic. I hope the best of success and mental health for Chaeryeong; I've never seen her lacking in her performances, she's truly gifted for being on stage.
Ngl as a person with anorexia, this is exactly it. Always worrying about calories, looking at the shape of your stomach after eating ( or just regular bloating ), picking at food, and even not realizing you're eating and accidentally eating too much. I hate to see her go through this, but its like this for so many idols. I wish she'd treat herself better, we all love her sm.
After looking at pics I think she did do plastic surgery but it was very subtle around her nose. But if you compare her face from around 15:55 and 18:35 her face is almost the same. I think the biggest factor was the weight loss and her maybe losing more around her cheek area as she's transitioned out of being a teenager. But like 95% still her face. Netizens are so annoying, how can you go from "visual hole" to "real life snow-white" so easily? How about she was always pretty but they insisted on putting her down because "reasons"? Do y'all know what I hated the most about ITZY's debut? Yeji's crop top that looked like a goddamn baseball had been cut up. That's it. They all looked stunning. I hope Chaeryeong enjoys her career more now and I'm glad that the debut hate (that I had no idea till today had existed) did not chase her out of the industry. Let's be honest here no one that gets to debut as a kpop idol will be "truly" ugly. An "ugly" idol is still like probably in the top 10% of looks. Netizen standards are cray.
Chae is my bias, along with Lia (coincidently the two who's been most hated) . She has such natural charm and charisma, many probably got intrested in her through the youngi collab, and she's a very captivating performer. I'm happy she's starting to get the love she deserves, as she's been through so so much...
it's so sad that people only started praising and appreciating her after she got a nose job (and possibly some other plastic surgery) and her weight loss :( imagine what that's doing to her mind, now she probably feels pressured to stay this skinny. chaeryeong always has been such a talented idol
growth is also a major factor. she's ageing esp since she debuted young. also the different hair colours esp the darker tones look so good on her particularly the black which is known to make ppl seem 'thinner'. she looks much more confident and happy and i just hope she loses whatever she wants to lose in a healthier way. their cbs also have a big part since they’re rehearsing and working tiring their bodies so she's bound to lose weight
Man I wanted to scream at the screen so much Not Shy era Chaeryeong is a peak for me. People criticizing that body is everything that is wrong with kpop nowadays.
i watched this video last week and i can’t stop thinking about it. i wish the world were kinder. thank you for making these videos and really putting a spotlight on how much cruelty and bullying online can affect someone’s self worth. i hope chaeryeong is doing ok.
sucks the most that she’s praised and loved the most when she’s at her thinnest. it’ll only encourage her that this is the way to go to be loved and recognised.
Just because criticism exists in the Kpop World, doesn’t mean you have any right to hate or criticize an idol so harshly. And people saying “it’s a fact that she is ugly” is just stupid. Your personal preference is not a fact. Your taste does not determine if something really is that bad or that good, just because you portray it to be. It just shows how brainless people truly are.
I seriously thought she was one of the prettiest in the group. I thought she must be valued for her rare kind of beauty in kpop, so I'm struggling to wrap my head around this video... what's wrong with people? 🤦♀Btw, I love Chaeryeong's dance skills, such a goddess! Thanks for posting this, I appreciate her even more now 💪
i got crying watching the video. having seen how much struggle these little girls had in the past is really sad. i noticed Chaeryoung in 2019 and very liked her among other members(im not saying that i hate them or smtg) she really stood out to me by her dance skills, strong and fit dancer’s body and appearance and her whole sweet and kind but at the same time hardworking personality. i really love and respect this girl for everything she does and wish her the best.
Chaeryeong is really beautiful. She is my favorite idol. I am sure that I will always support her because she is a good person and will not behave badly. I hate it when people praise Chaeryeong's visuals after she lost weight. She was always beautiful. I met her in the itzy not shy era and damn she was perfect. I don't understand those who call her ugly. She's not ugly and even if she were she wouldn't change that, she was born with this body. Looks aren't the only reason to become an idol. She can sing, she dances great, she can write songs, she can rap and her voice is soft and soothing.
Bro, she's been my bias since the beginning and I love her so much! She deserves so much love and happiness. I really hope she realizes that she's beautiful the way she is and doesn't have to change herself to please anyone.
I sincerely hope that she can find a way to completely detach her self-worth from what kpop stans think. I think only very few kpop idols are able to do this, obviously through no fault of their own, but those are usually the more happier ones. And I really wish Chaeryeong happiness. You are strong, resilient, kind and hard-working, Chaeryeong, and that's far more important than looks. Don't be so hard on yourself :)
I always thought she was gorgeous. She was one of the members that stood out to me in the debut, I really like her dancing. I hope that she can find a way to love herself more in any shape but I also can see why it's hard because of the pressure she's under and why that might be hard to do.
“Hate will exist no matter what” this is so sad, and to think it was used as an excuse to hate on someone for their looks, something that is subjective and they can’t really control, so sad.
People keep questioning why idols and celebrities keep losing weight but an idol and celebrity is almost always at their peak when they’re the skinniest like y’all are the ones contributing to it wether it’s purposefully or not it’s still sad
When itzy debut I thought Chaeryeong was the most captivating. I was sure she was one of the visual 🤣. I thought she had such an ethereal look! I was shocked the public were speaking so negatively on her looks. 😢
I struggled with my weight and look so much when I was younger. She’s undeniably pretty and beautiful, but I can tell that her mindset is I-am-not-good-enough. People react to energy. She doesn’t have to try to improve her look any more, but instead she should work on her self-image/self-esteem. Having been compared with her sister so much when such a young age, I understand why she ended up having not-very-confident personality. Been there, done that. I just want to give her a big hug.😢
speaking from experience, Chaeryeong gets prettier the more you look at her. she has that special charm about her and once ICY came out I was totally smitten with her. knowing her personality mixed with her looks makes her absolutely stunning to me. she's so beautiful both inside and out, I started crying watching this video bc I followed her suffering. she definitely has gained a lot of confidence, which I want to thank MIDZY for. also, I don't see any ps on her. her nose is the same, so are her eyes. she lost a lot of weight so her face is slimmer but I don't know where people think she's gotten surgery.
her eyes are the same, yes, but her nose isn't? look at her nose tip, it's a lot more small and sharper now leading to a better side profile and impression of a small nose overall
It doesn't matter. I see no issues with her getting a p s. or not. When these netizens are so mean I can understand wanting to change some aspects of yourselves. She's an amazing girl over-all. She has everything to become a great star and I'm rooting for her.
Chaeryeong has ALWAYS been amazing, and I think the fact that her confidence started to shine through is what makes her an even more beautiful, powerful individual.
Gorgeous girl Chaeryeong, wasn't she on TC Candler's list of most beautiful faces in 2021? Before I became a Midzy, I always thought she has such a personable, kind face :3 She's got my favorite voice in Itzy, and she's a seriously good dancer too. And her ears are super cute :D If I'm honest, this video was quite eye opening... to me I've always seen Chaeryeong as being the same weight continuously... whatever makes her happy (kpop's strict dieting plans are really messed up though :
It’s crazy that out of all the ITZY members, it’s Yuna who had a huge weight loss scandal! When Chaeryeong and Ryujin clearly have the most inconsistent relationship with food/dieting. It just goes to show, people judge “health” only on outward appearances and not on lifestyle or actions. Yuna is thinner so they just assumed she must be st@rving herself… anyway I hope you’ll do one for Ryujin too
She deserved an apology from everyone. She is beautiful, she always has been. She is extremely talented and kind. She deserves to be happy and have the recognition she deserves
personally, i think she is a case of a nose job done right. a good nose job should be subtle and avoid disturbing facial balance, accentuating the other features of the face, which has clearly been achieved here. it's clear how her face changes with weight gain/loss; you definitely cannot attribute her glow up in sneakers era to weight loss alone. she might have gotten something else worked on too, but her nose is the most obvious. she was stunning both before and after surgery, but the biggest change has been her confidence, and that makes a huge positive impact on her public persona. i hope she was able to eliminate any complex she may have had about her looks through this and, if not, can get the counseling she needs, since there are often many underlying psychological issues that come with being criticized so cruelly by the public. that is, of course, assuming this is a procedure she wanted and that her company didn't force it upon her (which is an assumption i'm making mostly due to her confidence boost).
still makes me really mad that anyone ever dared to say that she was unattractive, just because some people think her features aren't exactly what they want on an idol they complain when idols get plastic surgery, but then complain again when idols' appearance's don't fit this cookie cutter image chaeryeong is beautiful and always has been, sucks that some people can't see that
I never see Chaeryeong ugly, she's always pretty. I'm just curious why her makeup always looks like she's an antagonist and I agree with haters that she looks mad all time. But she's actually fun and friendly tho. I think she's talented and I love her voice, I keep remembering her part singing Wannabe on The First Take youtube channel, she looks stunning. I hope she will always be happy and enjoy her foods.
Seeing Chae get absolutely TORN apart for years for the way she looks and then people suddenly LOVING her this year after she lost weight ( and most likely had some plastic surgery procedures) makes my blood boil. And I can't imagine how it must feel for her, knowing that if her looks change, she could lose all the "love" she has gotten. This is so toxic.
this video is especially heartbreaking bc chaeryeong is my all-time favorite idol, right after taeyeon. she's only a few yrs older than me and i was a fan of her since her appearance on SIXTEEN. i always thought she had insane star power and wanted to be like her, so seeing ppl treat her so harshly was very difficult. i still can't fathom how they talked abt her because to me, she had everything i wanted, and i still look up to her as an artist since the beginning. i rlly admire her confidence and incredible talent. hope i can get more confident like her someday :')
i was there back in ITZY's debut era.. the hate that she got was INSANE!! she's my bias from the start and i don't get it why people were so mean towards her ( i don't get it until now) but now i rarely sees people treat her harshly like before (back in 2019) i'm so happy for her but i still don't think she deserves the hate the got from the beginning.. it's just full of nonsense and people were just being jealous of her
The way she always answer those type of questions about her diet she always answers them truthfully and honest. She is clearly calling for help and begging the haters to stop. im so glad tho that she is sharing her struggles and not keep it to herself. I wish haters would just not comment at all. Like if your gonna hate, just dont comment keep it to yourself. Words CAN kill.
I hope shes able to find a balance and redevelop a love for food instead this war with food. I seriously feel so sad to see her go through that. It’s mental torture
This moment when she was ur favorite from the beginning.. it’s so hard to see that people only price her when she’s at her thinnest. I can truly see a glow up. But I would say it has something to do with hair color and make up and grow into a woman. It can turn you in a complete different person.
I've been admiring ITZY since their Not Shy era, but I wouldn't call myself a die-hard Midzy yet. I've always caught a whiff of how Chaeryeong got hate for looking less attractive compared to the other members. But I think she looks fine. Yet, watching this video explaining the whole story since the beginning only makes me want to love her more. A sweet, talented lady like her doesn't deserve those hate comments. I can only imagine how hard it is to go through all those years enduring all the hate. Let's keep showering her with support and affirmative words to show her that we love her. And we also love how she's been gaining more confidence these days. Keep it up, uri Chaeryeong!
the people blaming her mom for letting her daughter follow her dreams and end up getting bullied are so evil... only wishing terrible awful things for them 🤞🏽🫶🏼
Thank you for this summary! I never knew how much kpop artists have to go through mentally just to be accepted! From small she has worked hard, I watched her since Sixteen! This is the first time I can appreciate her behind the scene tough working just to please netizens... With so much uncalled hate how can a simple girl not give up and strive for success until ITZY comeback performances are moneymakers! Go girl, you are pretty but it doesn't matter as much as your hard work AT DANCING. YOU ARE THE BEST!
This girls body has always been goals. Admirable, healthy. What she had to become to please people and how she and most idols do it is what made her unhealthy. She's always been my favorite, it's painful to know what she's been going through and how the world has conditioned her to see and treat herself. I hope she's gotten a therapist of some kind through all of this.
I know how persona’s work, but it’s ironic their whole concept focuses on “I love myself, I wouldn’t change for anyone!” Yet they do change either for the haters or because of society.
I feel so sad to see Chaeyoung struggling with an eating disorder, I had one too and it was a really hard time for me . I hope she takes more care of herself and be healthier. ❤❤
Both of the Chae sisters are so talented. I'm happy they are both doing well, bur hate how the public has reacted to both over the years. Chaeryeoung is an introvert to her sister and team members(most of them) being extroverts. It's harder to get an understanding of her personality, so people assume she is cold or rude. Not all idols are going to be loud and smiley all the time.
Netizens we’re too harsh on this girl it’s crazy how they switched up when she was finally deemed pretty in their eyes, when she’s been pretty since day 1
Everything about this just hurts my heart. Chaeryeong has always seemed so sweet, she's got a great sense of humor and a really engaging way of speaking. I feel like I've never heard of anyone saying anything bad about her that wasn't related to her appearance, but that's all that anyone cared to focus on. It's so fucking sad. She deserved an industry that respected her and uplifted her for her talents and kind heart. I hope that whatever diet she is on right now is sustainable for her and that she is in a better place mentally than she was early on
What the public did to Chaeryeong is my true villain story 😭😭
Ik!!! 😭😭
HONESTLY!! how could they hate on a mother pleading for people to stop attacking her daughter? Netizens have been truly evil to ITZY since their debut.
@@addy8078 its weird since they’re mostly teens too its crazy
It's called pretty privilege and it's sad
Yes, she's always been pretty but someone's looks shouldn't dictate how other people treat them
“You don’t have to like her, but just don’t hurt my child.” Poor Mama… 🥺💔
Getting dragged for being 'ugly' being photoshopped out of the group because you 'don't belong' at this level is NOT NORMAL, no wonder her mom begged people to stop, there's a limit to everything and chaeryeong didn't deserve any of that.
don’t mind that weirdo in the replies… with a pfp and bio like that i wouldn’t take them seriously 🗿
it makes me so mad how people suddenly switched teams and were all over her new look calling it a “GLOW UP” as if she was ugly before. LIKE BITCH SHE WAS BEAUTIFUL, korean standards are just downright crazy, and the hate she received to the point where her mother had to plead for people to stop is just so heartbreaking.
FR
What on earth are you on about?? Hollywood has absolutely asinine beauty standards that have led so many celebrities to paying thousands to look deformed…it’s sad. Each entertainment industry in most nations have some pressures when it comes to beauty…it’s not a “Korean” thing. Do y’all say this about the US too in regards to Hollywood?? Or just other countries? 🙄🙄🙄
While true the standards aren’t that high.....she genuinely was just too heavy
That didn’t warrant hate at all tho and it really is frustrating that suddenly we just gonna act like all is forgiven.
If you’re somehow exceeding your daily caloric intake consistently that’s an unhealthy problem
I’m just gonna say it, y’all who complain about “strict diets” have no idea what you’re talking about and or are probably coping about your own weight issues
Idols are active af, they eat right and are young.
Please do nayoung from lightsum 🙏🙏
I hope she lives and stays healthy the rest of life
@@oomay1925 don't worry it will get better
I feel like she’s grown confident in her idol image over the years- and her “glow up” definetly contributed to that. Though I must admit her diet during their Harper’s bazaar interview did raise some eyebrows since she saw pills as a meal… I’m just glad to see her happier
Edit: I remember netizens were harsh on her, even after her mother pleaded with them, but wow… I’m at a loss for words at how cruel and insensitive these people were smh
I don't know of she saw them as a meal. More like other itzy members skipped breakfast and she did the same plus took some vitamins instead.
she definitely got her nutrients in since she knew she probably wouldn’t have time to eat but you definitely need some substance to keep you going which she does. she’s okay nutrient wise but the lack of fat in her meals doesn’t really give her muscles anything to eat so it just eats the fat on her body making her skinnier. the shaming definitely didn’t help in making her eat, obviously, netizens have no idea what they do.
Her glow up is because plastic surgery literally all of them are botched anorexic bimbos they lost their individuality
Plastic surgery is okay, i just sometimes wish idols didn't feel forced to change their appearance just to be praised by such an image obsessed society though.
yep. and no matter how confident you are, if youre repeatedly told youre ugly its gonna do something to you...

7 billion people on the planet bud, not everyone is going to like how you look. She had tons of love from the start
Looks are subject, not everyone will find her or anyone else, attractive.

Chaeryeong and Lia where the first members I noticed in ITZY. They've gone through a lot. I remember her mum defending her, people are so carelessly cruel. Kindness is free.
I feel bad for her.
I remember hearing about that. Her mom came out and expressed her frustrations with the public and the people were so cruel. This world is mesed up
There’s something really sad about a girl group based around the concept of empowerment and independence, being yourself and not caring what other people think, where all the members have had plastic surgery and almost all of them have had drastic weight fluctuations.
i will never forget chaeryeongs own parents having to come out asking people to stop bullying their 17 year old daughter and jyp didnt say anything ☹️
She has always been beautiful :( I always liked her since sixteen. People never gave her a chance, so many of us were stumpy kids until we grow up. She just grew into her features, her face looks balanced because she's an adult now. Plus natural black hair always looks the best on idols.
That is true but it’s also the weight loss, cutting out sodium too probably
The black hair and makeup contouring only helps more there too. Maybe highlights her cheekbones or something? The makeup is definitely different now
I think she also got her nose adjusted as well there’s a significant difference

Weird comment to make, why are you putting down other idols in the process?
"one of the few idols that looks amazing regardless of gaining or losing weight" wow that's a messed up statement to make
This is such a screwed comment. So apparently some idols don’t look good gaining or losing weight? You don’t sound any different from a netizen. They all look fine despite their weight.
We found one of the netz
chaeryeong was literally THE member than shined. she always caught my eye because she was an amazing performer. she has the most unique look. i loved her for who she is. those people are so cruel. she is amazing and will keep shining.
i personally liked that itzy has unique features. it's good to see not every idol fitting the same mold in terms of beauty standard. it makes itzy feel more relatable which fits their teen crush concept.
Chaeryeong is not only gorgeous, she also has the purest soul. She's so lovely and kind. I truly think she has outstanding looks
her situation is the proof 99% of kpop fans care about looks and only looks. now she's a different person
O my god the comments from the korean netizens are pure venom and the ratio of likes to dislikes is sickening. I'm glad Chaeryeong is at the apex of her underdog story! She was always my bias as her personality is infectious!
She deserves the absolute world she seems like such a sweet person no one deserves that much hate at such a young age
I'm in my 30s and I was on the verge of tears reading those messages. How awful must have it been for her to see such unwarranted vitriol
They always giving her red lipstick colour
@@qiaragonzales4903 Red lipstick is under the same crime. A full lip of lipstick on people without really full lips, never actually looks good. It out shines the rest of the face’s features, making it look flat. Similarly with pink lipstick. Very bright colors in general do this without a full bright eyeshadow look.
@@_Meretricious Agree..Btw i noticed that her eyes look more attractive if they put eyeliner because she has a fox eyes
@@_Meretriciousyah her middle third is big than upper and lower third they should've done something to highlight it and dark or sparkly undereyes
Something like they did in sneakers era she suits that makeup
Honestly she never gained fat but muscle, she must work-out/dance very hard for that!!! People go to the gym for that type of gains
I remember chaer saying
How confident she always has been
But the debut era made her feel like a loser..
The hate for being not pretty, the hate for being fat
all broke her strength, her confidence... only if people knew how beautiful and unique her features are how kind how talented she is!!
It's Ridiculous how hate can make a gorgeous confident and talented people feel like a loser
A weak human being...can make them hate themselves
I feel sad... I feel hurt
But now seeing my girl getting more and more Recognisation makes me happiest 😭❤️!!
Love u keep growing my gurll
This video is very informative and well written! I am glad she is getting more confident and realising how beautiful and iconic she really is
Broke my heart when I saw her cry cause of those stupid comments.
At her debut, she had a really strong dancer body. You could see the muscles in her legs.
I feel so sorry for her. She doesn’t deserve this hate, she’s very sweet and she has always been gorgeous 🥹
Chae is my 2nd favorite KPop idol and Lia is my 3rd
One of many idols who deserves a huge apology :(
it's so sad that people only started praising and appreciating her after she got a nose job (and possibly some other plastic surgery) and her weight loss :( imagine what that's doing to her mind, now she probably feels pressured to stay this skinny. chaeryeong always has been such a talented idol
growth is also a major factor. she's ageing esp since she debuted young. also the different hair colours esp the darker tones look so good on her particularly the black which is known to make ppl seem 'thinner'. she looks much more confident and happy and i just hope she loses whatever she wants to lose in a healthier way. their cbs also have a big part since they’re rehearsing and working tiring their bodies so she's bound to lose weight
Man I wanted to scream at the screen so much
Not Shy era Chaeryeong is a peak for me.
I genuinely don’t understand how people can think she’s ugly, I’ve always thought she was the prettiest member since not shy
Her moms message makes me tear up honestly. I can’t imagine how hard that was for them
I seriously thought she was one of the prettiest in the group.
Don't be so hard on yourself :)
it’s sad that only after she lost weight, people started praising her visuals.
I love Chaeryeong so much, she's beautiful and such a sweetheart
“She’s pretty now?” She’s always been pretty yall are just mean
its crazy how the first time i saw her debuted, she's the person who piques my interest! how can you not love her
When itzy debut I thought Chaeryeong was the most captivating.
She was never ugly I don't understand why people thought so?
this video made me cry, thank you creator !
people are so mean, she deserves all the love fr
speaking from experience, Chaeryeong gets prettier the more you look at her. she has that special charm about her and once ICY came out I was totally smitten with her. knowing her personality mixed with her looks makes her absolutely stunning to me. she's so beautiful both inside and out, I started crying watching this video bc I followed her suffering. she definitely has gained a lot of confidence, which I want to thank MIDZY for.
also, I don't see any ps on her. her nose is the same, so are her eyes. she lost a lot of weight so her face is slimmer but I don't know where people think she's gotten surgery.
her eyes are the same, yes, but her nose isn't? look at her nose tip, it's a lot more small and sharper now leading to a better side profile and impression of a small nose overall
@@jiaverse it could be nose contour, but her nose does look a bit different.
@@Taewiththelace she probably did do surgery, i am practically sure she did her nose and mayb her face contour, jaw
It doesn't matter. I see no issues with her getting a p s. or not. When these netizens are so mean I can understand wanting to change some aspects of yourselves. She's an amazing girl over-all. She has everything to become a great star and I'm rooting for her.
She got ps, it's not an issue, her career is taking off and she's finally getting the attention she deserves. That's all anyone should care about.
I have tears in my eyes she is honestly beautiful
Chaeryeong has ALWAYS been amazing, and I think the fact that her confidence started to shine through is what makes her an even more beautiful, powerful individual.
Gorgeous girl Chaeryeong, wasn't she on TC Candler's list of most beautiful faces in 2021?
Before I became a Midzy, I always thought she has such a personable, kind face :3 She's got my favorite voice in Itzy, and she's a seriously good dancer too.
And her ears are super cute :D
If I'm honest, this video was quite eye opening... to me I've always seen Chaeryeong as being the same weight continuously... whatever makes her happy (kpop's strict dieting plans are really messed up though :
they complain when people do cosmetic surgery and they complain when the person is a natural beauty!! What to do??
“You don’t have to hurt my child” damn that was hard
It’s crazy that out of all the ITZY members, it’s Yuna who had a huge weight loss scandal! When Chaeryeong and Ryujin clearly have the most inconsistent relationship with food/dieting. It just goes to show, people judge “health” only on outward appearances and not on lifestyle or actions. Yuna is thinner so they just assumed she must be st@rving herself… anyway I hope you’ll do one for Ryujin too
Ive always biased chaeryoung she is charismatic and an awesome performer with great energy , glad that people are loving her more now ❤
She deserved an apology from everyone.
A sweet and hard working person like her doesn't deserve those bad comments
still makes me really mad that anyone ever dared to say that she was unattractive, just because some people think her features aren't exactly what they want on an idol
they complain when idols get plastic surgery, but then complain again when idols' appearance's don't fit this cookie cutter image
chaeryeong is beautiful and always has been, sucks that some people can't see that
she's perfect the way shes is, i love her shes pretty
I never see Chaeryeong ugly, she's always pretty. I'm just curious why her makeup always looks like she's an antagonist and I agree with haters that she looks mad all time. But she's actually fun and friendly tho. I think she's talented and I love her voice, I keep remembering her part singing Wannabe on The First Take youtube channel, she looks stunning. I hope she will always be happy and enjoy her foods.
I love how midzy protect Chaeryeong after the repetitive hates and the way her mom protect her
Seeing Chae get absolutely TORN apart for years for the way she looks and then people suddenly LOVING her this year after she lost weight ( and most likely had some plastic surgery procedures) makes my blood boil. And I can't imagine how it must feel for her, knowing that if her looks change, she could lose all the "love" she has gotten. This is so toxic.
this video is especially heartbreaking bc chaeryeong is my all-time favorite idol, right after taeyeon. she's only a few yrs older than me and i was a fan of her since her appearance on SIXTEEN. i always thought she had insane star power and wanted to be like her, so seeing ppl treat her so harshly was very difficult. i still can't fathom how they talked abt her because to me, she had everything i wanted, and i still look up to her as an artist since the beginning. i rlly admire her confidence and incredible talent. hope i can get more confident like her someday :')
i was there back in ITZY's debut era.. the hate that she got was INSANE!! she's my bias from the start and i don't get it why people were so mean towards her ( i don't get it until now) but now i rarely sees people treat her harshly like before (back in 2019) i'm so happy for her but i still don't think she deserves the hate the got from the beginning.. it's just full of nonsense and people were just being jealous of her
I bet that all of those haters regretted commenting stuff like this to her, Chaeryeong is one of the prettiest Kpop idols to me.
She had lots of plastic surgery
@@XiaoLing-pu9st that doesn't make her fake or ugly, she's incredible and talented
It’s mental torture
i love chaeryeong she's my favorite from itzy and who ever doesn't like chaeryeoung altleast give her chance.
