  • I made this simple cabinet out of reclaimed pine boards. You can make it using a few basic woodworking tools.
    Tools and materials I propose:
    Cordless drill: amzn.to/2A6fTOy
    Random orbit sander: amzn.to/2VZgv4u
    Circular saw: amzn.to/2pJu9Hf
    Speed square: amzn.to/2YoU9XE
    Miter box: amzn.to/2pIkscc
    Hand saw: amzn.to/2Cldl0J
    Countersink bits: amzn.to/2Exkv2G
    No4 hand plane: amzn.to/2CnmTrZ
    Block plane: amzn.to/2RLiAMf
    Chisel set: amzn.to/2pILO1B
    Masking tape: amzn.to/2JCe1lZ
    Picture frame clamp: amzn.to/2yClM48
    Corner clamps: amzn.to/2CkeK7G
    Flush trim saw: amzn.to/2PnkoJM
    6mm dowels: amzn.to/2RAw25y
    Dowel center pin: amzn.to/2EmNeGG

Very nice, I should be ashamed for not having one made. My shop is like me, old and I am always looking for something else to build. Thanks.....

It's the most basic things and the most useful we always forget when it comes to shop improvement.
Yes, of course every shop needs a first aid cabinet.
    Thanks for reminding us.
By the way, I loved the huge plexiglass sander!!!

I have two First aid kits in my shop. I like to think I am well prepared LOL. A great project. You had me worried for a minute Dimitri. When you started to cut the door with the circular saw I thought.. Oh no.. Disaster when you cut the fourth side. But you showed you experience and thinking. You cut and placed the the wedges to support the cut. Well done

The dowels in the butt joints seem like a great addition. You don't need fancy cuts on a utility cabinet (or preventing you from making boxes at all, as a beginner,) but the dowels still make it strong and do still convey that the piece is handmade. I like that a lot.

    Nice cabinet!
Using the heat gun to quick-dry the latex for the red cross is a good tip, one that's not universally known. There can be mixed results when drying a larger surface, as excessive heat in spots can change the color, but it's perfect for this small feature.

Great project! Of course you can adapt the techniques shown to make many other types of cabinets and boxes, even certain types of pictures and art frames.
