Once V had a nightmare and he ran to Jimin's room, but Jimin shooed him away. Next day V told why he came and then Jimin felt sorry he did that and brought him a dream catcher so that V won't have any nightmares. I don't know all the references, but in one line Jimin calls V his "alien". Alien (or Taelien) used to be a nickname for V because he is very unique and can seem out of his world. Jimin uses it in a loving way and embraces Vs whole personality. However, fans don't use the nickname anymore because V said it bothers him.
Then V also sang about Jimins "small pinky". This derives from a video where they held their hands together and everyone noticed Jimins small hands. He gets teased a lot by the members because his height in general.

What Tae was trying to say was that eventhough they have such a good relationship, he thinks they will keep improving. They still have to live and experience a lot of things together since they are going to stay together for a long time. That is his wish and I really hope it becomes true

Maybe because their song's were not about their friendship what it was and how it has been growing and how they see it will still grow into the future..
there are so many different references in this song, the biggest one being the “you are my soulmate” thing. several years ago a fan actually gave jimin and v a multiple choice paper asking them what they meant to each other and they both ended up picking the “soulmate” option without knowing what the other picked. since then there have been times where the other bts members have referred to them as soulmates too, but this was the first time we’ve ever seen them refer to EACH OTHER as soulmates, so it makes the song 10 times more meaningful :)
some other things: v used to be called an “alien” when he was younger because he made weird facial expressions (he prefers that fans don’t call him this anymore though). when v says “hey jimin, today * pop *” he’s asking jimin to have a drink with him later (apparently during recording they would talk to each other during that part through ad libs, and that one just stuck). the dreamcatcher v refers to was a gift jimin gave him a few years ago because he kept having bad dreams. you already know about the dumpling incident because they explained it in the other video

Sammy, the dumpling incident, remember when you reacted to the BTS carpool karaoke and they said they fought about dumplings. Its that dunpling incident they are talking about. They were practising and Tae and Jiminie were deciding on whether they should eat the dumplings then or after the practice, one suggested to eat it then coz he was hungry and the other one insisting on eating it aftwr the practice, but it became a fight lmao.

Fun fact: the members that know each other the longest are RM and SUGA (they've 10 years of friendship) and the members that have the same age are Jimin-V(1995) and Rm-Jhope(1994)
But RM said that the friendship v and jimin has no one else has it but he doesn't mean they are not friend but v and jimin are on another level

when a person auditions for some entertainment company there in Korea, and he passes the audition, he becomes a treeine along with many other people, so they train for years before making their debut, for example BTS has 7 years of group but they live together about 9-10 years old, so they spent their teens living together and going to school together.
Ana yes and because Jimin and V are the same age, they had their classes together, took the bus together, and lived I the same dorm. Probably a bit closer than the other trainees.
But actually, Jimin only was a trainee for six months or so before BTS debuted, that's why there was such uncertainty about him debuting with the group. The only ones that spent 10 years together are RM and Suga (j-hope joined a year later, and Jin, Jk and Taehyung the year following that if I'm not mistaken).

How ugly to know that I don't have a friendship as beautiful and pure as that of Vmin, the song is so art and significant, one of my favorite jewels on the album.
I was so happy when V said he wants to dance with Jimin because the first time they had their solo tracks, only Jimin and Jungkook had a choreography for their song unlike V and Jin. Then their next solo songs from Love Yourself album series, V danced to Singularity. And still, Jungkook and Jimin danced again. And now that they have a sub unit, V wants to perform this song with Jimin with a dance. 💜💜💜 my heart is full and i love it

Technically, Friends is a story of Jimin and Taehyung's friendship as bestfriends.
Taehyung and Jimin are both born in 1995 and called as the 95 duo. Both 18 when BTS debuted, so they definitely spent their teenage years together. They are schoolmates while they are trainees, but Taehyung came a little early than Jimin because he was the first one to pass the BigHit auditions. Jimin said that Taehyung was his first ever friend in school, Jimin was a shy guy because he came from Busan, and he was shy to talk because of his accent, while Taehyung already had friends. Taehyung was the first one to approach him when, while he was talking to his friends, he noticed that Jimin was alone in the corner of their room, so he asked his friends to be friends with Jimin also. They went to school together and went to practice together and went home in their dorm together. That's why there are lyrics related to their school days.
Jimin called Taehyung as his alien because Taehyung's personality is very unique (even the other members said that) He was a very playful kid in their early years and he usually do things that are very strange for the members.
The dumpling incident as years passed by became just a funny incident about the two.
that "Jimin, hey, oneul." is a korean term for someone asking you to drink with him, that's why theres a popping sound in the end like the sound of opening a beer or soju.
Jimin's small pinky became a gag joke for the members because it was really small, compared to the other members (Jimin have a very small hands) opposite to Taehyung that have really long fingers, hands, but in the song it became a symbolism of their promise to each other that whatever happens they will stick together even if they are not BTS anymore, and nothing will change about their friendship like Jimin's tiny pinky, through thick and thin.
The dreamcatcher was when Jimin gave Taehyung a dreamcatcher necklace because Taehyung had a bad dream while they are in the Philippines and according to Jimin's story, that night, Taehyung went to his room to sleep with him because he had a bad dream and can't sleep alone, but, Jimin told him to go, but Jimin can't remember what happened because he was still asleep when Taehyung came, he felt sorry and gave Taehyung a dream catcher as an apology gift and for Taehyung not to have bad dreams anymore. Taehyung was so touched because of that. (It was said and Jimin really gave the dreamcatcher to Taehyung in Summer Package 2017 in Palawan)
Jimin and Taehyung's friendship is so precious that they are beyond what they call "bestfriends" they treat each other as "soulmates" already, even the other members believe in that.
When the group were asked in one of the episodes of "Go BTS" who was the greatest duo or pair of the group, they answered "Jimin and V, the 1995 duo" in chorus.
Taehyung have said that Jimin is considered as his bestfriend among the group, Jimin was there for him in every situation, he cried and laughed with him. Jimin was there in time of his need. He wrote it in his letter for Jimin in Bon Voyage Season 2, Episode 8.
Jimin was the producer of this song, and he was really happy that the company approved his melody, and he became happier when he knew that he'll be singing it with Taehyung. He really said that this is a very emotional song for him and if one day they will perform it on stage, he will really go emotional.
RM said that he can't write a song about VMIN's (Jimin and Taehyung) unique friendship because they are the only one that can describe what kind of bond they have, he told in his live that he's not in the position to write lyrics for them, he tried but he gave up because it was hard for him to describe their bond.
Their friendship is strong, and unbreakable. That's why this song is so precious for the two of them.

Even here in Philippines we use it now due to the idols influence 😊 In Korean culture, they do that with their fingers when saying "I love you". And these days, they can just put up their fingers like that and be understood as saying I LOVE YOU even without actually saying it
I couldn't stop smiling when I first listened to 'Friends' and '4 O'Clock' they are written so beautifully. I love Vmin and their relationship. I cry everytime they talk about their past and sing their song. They are so so close and perfect for each other. The song 'Friends' is their song nobody can break their bond. They consistently say "I love you." to one another. They are always there for each other and Jimin always wipes V's tears away. I want them to be happy together forever, no matter what. The word “friend” in Korean also means a person who is the same age as you. They are interchangeable. You can call someone you barely know your “friend” just because they are same age. Since age dictates everything in Korean language even the different levels of grammar you use to speak to someone being the same age is also a big deal. They are someone you can be completely informal with and have no hierarchy from the very beginning of knowing them

Fun fact : jimin said in a recent live that he was very possessive with his friends and I remember in 2016, he was kinda mad when Taehyung, who made friends with the actors he was working with in hwarang, texted I love you in the group chat. Their friendship is honestly so beautiful. Since they're the same age, they attended the same school together when they came to Seoul. When Jimin joined the school, Taehyung would tell his friends to include him and there is even an interview from recent of one of their classmates saying Taehyung told her to look after Jimin. Along the way they have created some of the most beautiful memories together. They're each others' soulmates, bestfriends. Taehyung also opened up to Jimin and Jimin cried with him. They always tend to each other and make sure the other is happy. They are such perfect friends who are different yet similar in many areas. For example, their voices, one is quite low and deep and the other is quite high yet they compliment each others' so well. If you want to see more of these wholesome moments on action, I would recommend searching 'vmin moments' 'best of vmin' and videos like that.

There’s so many cute references in this song. Jimin called v an alien cuz bts would always describe v’s personality as alien like since he’s very unique and quirky. V talked about jimins small pinky cuz out of all the members, v has the biggest hand and jimin has the smallest, and they compared their pinkies and there was like an inch and a half of a difference it was so funny😂 they’ve talked about the dumpling incident many times in their lives. And the dream catcher v referenced is a gift from jimin that he gave him in one of their bon voyage episodes that he supposedly still has in his room today. They’re friendship is so cute and complicated they’ve been through many fights, but they even said themselves that those fights brought them closer together. 1. "Longer than seven summers and cold winters" is refering to the years the band's been together so, longer than 7 years.
2. I think you missed it but in the interview they said they've been together for 9 years, if you were wondering. All the BTS members have lived together for 10 years now.
3. It is a real choir! They recorded it in LA there's a behind video "BTS 'ON' Commentary Film" that you'd really really love.
4. The song has a lot of references some you won't understand but they talk abt their school days, when they would wear the uniforms in the morning, their bus rides back home, their incidents and fights (dumpling incident), jimin's tiny pinky finger, etc.
5. It's not just them that are close like family, all the members are too because of how long they've been together. But another duo that has a special friendship and songs together is Namjoon and Yoongi, who have known each other the longest out of all of them (10 years). They have a song called Moving On that talks a bit abt their friendship and they have their newest song Respect which also has the same interview/explanation video! The units for this album were Jimin and V (Friends), RM and Suga (Respect), J-Hope Jin and Jungkook (Jamais Vu).

BTS debuted in 2013 but the guys were trainees at the company for several years before debut so they've been together since they were teens. Jungkook was 13 which means Jimin and V were around 15/16 when they met ( or maybe older since Jimin was the last member to join) . When they moved to Seoul to become trainees they had to transfer to a new school there and since Jimin and V were both trainees at BigHit and both the same age, they were classmates in high school. BTS has existed for 7 years now and that's already a lot of years to know somebody but even before debut, they trained together as trainees at the company so some of the members have been together for like 10 years now so yes they go WAYYY back.

Even Namjoon has talked about how special Jimnin and Tae's friendship is. He said he couldn't participate in writing this song because he can't completely understand how deep their bond is. He even gave an example of how they protect each other. He mentioned that when someone was blaming Tae for something Jimin would inmediately say that Tae couldn't have done anything wrong. I guess that the fact that they are the same age, but literally the exact opposite to each other is was has made them closer. Really true friends!

Yes, all performers wear stage makeup. BTS doesn’t wear makeup unless they are in front of cameras.

The dumpling incident:
This was when Taehyung was starting in a drama and he came back when they were practising and Taehyung was hungry So he wanted to eat dumplings 🥟 and Jimin said let’s eat “after” practising and Taehyung said let’s eat now and they didn’t speak because of that for a 2 days
And then they sat down and spoke it out
Taehyung also said “I don’t know how I was mad at and Angel like Jimin”.
