Never buying anything from Foot Locker again. Especially now that you taught me my pair went to GOAT. Finish Line had the shoes in store so I still got them but man I was ready to burn Foot Locker to the ground.
I remember getting some shoes from Eastbay in the ‘80s, and paid for it via COD (cash on delivery), and gave the UPS delivery person a money order when he dropped off the order. How’s that for aging myself? 😂
Footlocker should have kept Footaction and closed champs but i guess it would have been too much to rebrand all the champs to footaction and WSS basically replaced eastbay.
You have to understand the business side of why Footlocker doesnt discount sneakers like other retailers. My SVP is a former Nike executive and he explained that the contracts Nike has with retailers like Dicks and Footlocker limits them from discounting certain sneakers. JD sports are in a small markt of regions in the U.S. They account for such small market share that Nike doesnt engage in contractual language with such a small business. Think back to old days of friends and family discounts at Footlocker, Jordans were not included in those deals because of the contract with Nike. Footlocker is limited on pricing power.
@lena_MVA thanks for feedback, I am sure that plays a huge role, but in the climate we’re in customer are not caring about contractual obligations. Footlocker needs to amend some of these antiquated legality measure to serve they customers better ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@Ballinonabudget Doesn't work like that. Nike built DTC model and started freezing out retail stores. This is why Dicks created their own DSG line. Footlocker has no bargaining power to leverage Nike into a better deal. Nike sales went through the roof in the early days of the DTC model and even though sales are down for them, they have no reason to go back to 3rd party resellers. Nike stores and factory stores account for more sales than the stored like footlocker. This is straight from Nike leadership.
