Plácido Domingo, perhaps the best Tenor ever, directing the Berliner Philarmoniker, ESPAÑA de Chabrier. This peace I first listened in concert in the Lincoln Memorial in Washington in 1975. I was with my most dearest friend, David ALVINS, deceased of the Covid19 in NYC on March 2020; for ever I will associate ESPAÑA with David, who sure is smiling at me from Heaven. God Bless you my darling.
When I was very young we used to have a cinema in my home town and this was the signature tune before the show started. I’ve always loved this piece ! Thank you for posting.😊
There was a craze for all things Spanish in France in the mid-19th century, as exemplified by the popularity of Prosper Mérimée's novella "Carmen," which later was turned into the opera by Bizet (1875). This wonderful, lively work by Chabrier is a part of that craze.
Snoopy & Woodstock go berserk doing the spring dance to this, It puts everyone in a good mood all spring & summer long!Chabrier's mother was Spanish, he captures a Spanish zeitgeist ,& wheeeeee how lucky for us to enjoy his genius for exuberance on stilts!
Chabrier, great French composer, also has an Habanera which is simply delight. The first time I went to Washington D.C. it was being played in front of the Lincol Memorial on a sunday sunny winter morning. I shall never forget that magic moment
I agree that Chabrier's Habanera is simply a delight, and have played the solo piano version. This piece, Espana, which I'm hearing for the first time is also elegant, charming and delightful
@@fredgreene2903 Thank you Fred, I am sure you understand what I mean, because I think that everybody at a given moment has a magic moment either with music or with a friend, better both at the same time. Cheers.
@@112Allegro Lucky you, play the piano must be like a dream, I regret I never had the time or rather the strong desire needed to learn to play such a wonderful musical instrument.Cheers
I used this recording to help me figure out my part when I played this a couple years back. Still the most difficult piece I have ever played, but it sure was fun!
Muchas gracias. 🇪🇦😤😤🇪🇦

Maravillosa sinfonía
What a magnificent performance, I've loved this piece since I was a little kid, I'm now 75 and never tire of it. Thank you Berliner Philharmoniker.
Mille Mercis !

Fabulous. I remember hearing this when I was 8 years old and falling in love with it instantly.

RHEINGOLD BEER USED THIS IN THEIR BEER COMMERCIALS IN THE 50s AND 60s.
MY BEER IS RHEINGOLD THE DRY BEER… 🎶🎵🎶🎵
This SO captures the essence of Espana!
Great composition by Chabrier. Emil Waldteufel used it as a basis for the waltz Espana.
A superb performance of a fabulous piece.
Everyone is GREATEST … Our Beloved máster conductor PLACIDO DOMINGO MEXICAN HISPANOAMERICAN. THE TOP NOBODY PLAYED CHABRIER best EVER !
WE love YOU dearest Teacher !
Plácido Domingo es español. Vivió muchos años en México.
I love this orchestral composition! Wonderful use of dynamics, and the marcato trombone section and bassoon soli is way cool too!
Finally Chabrier's España played with the right tempo... Olê !! Everybody plays this just too fast. Thank you Placido! You're a genius.
Agreed. The tempo is correct.
I love the way the harp underpins all of this piece.
Me gusta éste video
brilliantly done
Es ist eine musikalische Delikatesse.
I used this recording to help me figure out my part when I played this a couple years back. Still the most difficult piece I have ever played, but it sure was fun!
aaahhhh....this is music...hope every song in the world was at least comparable to this
Fabulous
Chabrier was the composer. A genius!
Si.
Conductor is correcto!
N O MASTER CONDUCTOR/OPERA SINGER PLAY ORCHESTRA LIKE YOU AND NOBODY SINGS JOTA LIKE PLACIDO DOMINGO EVER !

2001.....I was 8
I won t see it i would like to play ESPANA

Flamenco isn't Spain. Jota is Spain.
I have real difficulty listening to this piece just once.
i realize I am kinda off topic but does anyone know of a good site to watch new tv shows online?
@Billy Karson i would suggest flixzone. Just google for it =)
always he conduct after the orchestra WTF
España ñ ñ ñ!!!
hmmm... its not a 'song'....
Why does all of Chabrier's music sound funny to me?
+David Ricart probably because you are not very intelligent
JOSE LUIS Fernandez mmm
Earwax?
Probably because you are a fool.
Because it is funny music.
Why does this piece sound beautiful when played by two pianos but pathetic and funny when played by an orchestra?
