    A video about the new and old blue line trains that I put together with some left over footage and photos I had on my computer. As far as I know there are only 1 or 2 sets of 0600's left. I was lucky to get a ride on one even when I was filming. Which of the two do you like best?

    @jdgator95 True. I ride the Blue Line on rare occasions during some of my Sunday commutes in Boston when it's clear and sunny.

    The interior of the old Blue Line cars look very much like the interior of the orange line trains to me.

    I love how the blue line trains (2008 700 series) sound similar to the Path train (2009 PA-5 cars). Or should I say the Path sounds similar because technically these have been around one year earlier. Anyway, nice video from Jersey City, NJ despite the fact that I'm late, 11 years late!

    The old blue line will always have a place in my heart. I used to live near the airport station. My mother and I would always go to boston and have a time in there. I always love the blue liine

    The old blue lines may have not aged the greatest but the old orange lines have aged A WHOLE LOT WORSE compared to the old blue lines. Watch a video of an Orange Line departing Downtown Crossing in 2015, the train looks like it's in horrible condition!

    Another difference is that the 0600 series had DC motors and an aluminum body, whereas the 0700 series have AC motors and a stainless steel body.

    you could go to Kennebuncport, Maine and ride a 0600 if you really wanted to...they also have 1951 St. Louis Car Co. and 1925 Pullman Standard cars that run!

    Why doesn't the MBTA just repaint them if there getting rusty? They are 30 years old but there have been subway cars running alot longer than that

      The rust must of gotten really bad because remember the blue line goes by the beach

    Old blue line was nicer. Do you think the MBTA will reinstate the old ones back into service. Still remember riding it

    @blarization The 0600s are fully gone. You can't ride one now.

      2003rtm If you want to ride the Old Orange Line cars, you need to be quick. They just put in Six New trains in service and they will Replace the older trains.

  • @FlyingPiper13
    @FlyingPiper13 12 лет назад

    Yep... They did! Also, some stations can't accommodate a six car train, which is why the 0700s have "on demand" buttons that are activated at these stations.

    I live in mattapan and I like these blue line trains a lot man the 700s exterior is better that the 600s but the 600 has a great interior and the smell of the old 600s are great nice bid man

    I'd say my favorite trains are the type 7s on the Green Line or the Siemens on the Blue Line. I've got a huge distaste for the way they plastered ads all over the type 7's, though. It looks horrible.

  • @jdgator95
    @jdgator95  15 лет назад +2

    I found out that green means the pantographs are down, orange means the snow/ice brakes are on, blue means wheel slip, and red mean the brakes are applied/doors opened

  • @jdgator95
    @jdgator95  14 лет назад +1

    No, they are sold whole and then scrapped. I'm not sure which old trains you mean, but none have been taken away recently.

  • @jdgator95
    @jdgator95  14 лет назад +1

    @tpirman1982 I agree, that's because they were both made to the (mostly) same design

  • @jdgator95

    @asvb232 nope. both the new and old trains run on overhead and third rail...they switch off at airport

    Did the early 500 series blue line cars last so long because they were completely underground for about 25 years?

  • @mannypagan2715
    @mannypagan2715 8 лет назад +5

    I think old is better

  • @jdgator95
    @jdgator95  15 лет назад +1

    They are just as old but they are in much better condition becuase they do not run near the ocean or airport so the air that they run and are stored in is not as salty and polluted. They are expected to be retired around 2012
