DSLR Camera trap - Photographing Hedgehogs at Eye level

Out with the camera trap again, after being inspired by a nice patch of "Forget me not" flowers. I was pleased to have my best image from this set up featured on the "Helping wildlife" page of the 2024 BBC Springwatch website.

I love your work John. He is very careful and imaginative. Plus it's generous of you to make your "secrets" available to the public. In this case the preparation has been impeccable and the result very beautiful, with those flowers and the wide angle, as you wanted. Of course the robin is always willing to try our system first. Great lighting as usual, completely different set up with Forget me not's. I have had only 2 early April Hedgehog visits. Fingers crossed for Hoglets.

What do hedgehogs eat naturally?

Hi Melani, They normally eat a variety of invertebrates such as worms, slugs, beetles etc They will occasionally eat fallen fruit and even birds eggs if they come across them.
