      @@SimulationMaster hii sir. In this we have design a circular loop. But in order to design normal cross(or Jerusalem cross) what are the steps that needs to be taken? Could you please give step by step procedure to get a normal cross symbol on the substrate? Please help. Thanks.

    Thanks for your video. How would I set up simulation of a full structure FSS, (say 20 x 20 unit cells) in the transient solver please? I think I’d use a waveguide port on each side of the structure but what boundaries would you suggest I use please? Thanks.

    At 12:53, from the red curve I infer that at 7.94 GHz it will reflect to backside and also transmit at the same frequency how can it transmit and reflect at the same frequency. Am I understanding it correctly. Can you help to give clarity

    Why did we use PEC for FSS not a copper(annealed)??

      good question. For the initia adjustment there will be no difference between them in terms of the requency response. So to decrease simulation time I use PEC. In the later stages of the project you can use the actual material. It will have small effect on the frequency responce, and wil add loss.

      @@SimulationMaster Thanks. I have one more query: There are layers of array. The top layer array is for 8-10GHz and the bottom layer array is for 5-6GHz. If an FSS is designed and acts as ground plane for the 8-10GHz, then should the designed FSS have maximum reflection coefficient for the 8-10GHz and minimum transmission transmission coefficient for 8-10GHz?

    I didn't get to generate the variations of parameters after simulation. Could you tell how to do that?
    e.g. Making x constant and varying r_out and other parameters we have that results, as you show us in the video.

      Yes you can. You can use Post Processing tool to access and draw curves.

    nice video and good explanation. I am currently working on THz antenna based on FSS with Floquet port in CST. Could you please replicate the simulation from this paper "Broadband THz Uncooled Antenna-Coupled Microbolometer Array-Electromagnetic Design, Simulations and Measurements" from IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON TERAHERTZ SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY, VOL. 2, NO. 3, MAY 2012. It is using HFSS simulator and I wish you can also simulate this in CST.

    How to find the reflection phase?

      you can directly look at the reflection parameters like S11 and S22 and plotting their phase you will get the reflection phase.

    Why you chose Frequency solver not time solver

      Because in Grequency Solver we can use Flloguet Boundaries and unit cell boundary conditions use these Floguet equations.

      @ OK , but when i want simulate Antenna in Time domain with these CELLs as reflector what should i do?

      @@sciencelearning2326 You should use Time-domain solver. Using time-domain will not change the results, but using FSS with antenna disables 'Unit Cell Boundary' conditions. So your bandwidth and S11 parameters of the FSS will change under these conditions. You must take into account this situation and use enough Cells to ensure proper operation of your FSS.
