This thing is a LOT more cool than you make it out to be. They can literally make interference patterns in the waves, make a water spike (I guess you'd say?) where they engage all the paddles at once and cause a single wave to travel towards the center and when they all hit in the middle you get a shot of water that shoots pretty much all the way to the ceiling! They can recreate any wave. Period. Even rogue waves. This thing is sooo damn cool! The slow mo guys have made a video on it as well. It's badass!

In the Navy before they close down treasure Island which is yuba Buena Island between Oakland and San Francisco. They had the best firefighting grounds and teachability and plenty of room to do it. I live there for about a year It was incredible. I think Steven Spielberg owns most of that territory now. I could be wrong.
They also had two compartments floating in water on hinges so you had to save the ship as they open valves and open holes that you couldn't plug fast enough, but it was really incredibly interesting and taught you a lot about saving your life. And when the compartments list far enough away to sync to the bottom, you sunk the ship and we sunk it every time still we learned.
