Ironhead Sportster Bobber Build

- This was the bike that started Bay City Restorations! I disassembled this bike completely and had the frame, wheels and other various parts powdercoated. My father and I put the custom old school paint job on the tank. Unfortunately, this bike was built before I started filming for RUclips so I don't have any time-lapse footage but I did take lots of pictures! Hope you enjoy the video, and don't forget to check out my Instagram for even more pictures and details on my latest builds! Thanks for watching!

I'm building an 83 this year. Love the old Ironheads. Beautiful build! Thanks for sharing!
What a transformation. And those open Florida roads!
Man's Got Skills,,
I have an 83 all so working on it good inspiration thanks
nicest Ironhead i have seen!
very impressive.
bobber!!!!!!!!😍
Nice build man, but I gotta ask.... At this point, why didn't you just buy a carbed Evo sporty? Looks like 90% of the work was just making it look like a newer Sportster
Love it!
I have to tell you that you did an excellent job 🤩
Thank you 🙏🏻
Nice job!!! Love it.
First watched your BMW video and now this. OMG it's beautiful bro 👍
Glad you like it!
Bike looks great, you nailed it with that tank.
Thank you!
Nice Ironhead Man. IMO these are one of the few Harley's that actually lend themselves to good looking cafe racers. I love that the frames aren't nearly as sloped as the later bikes, and from the center-back they're nice and straight. Did you do anything inside the motor? Cams?
Thank you! I did not open the motor up on this one. I believe internally it is all original, just upgraded the exhaust and electrical system.
Hello from Brazil,
Diego Alves Hello! Thanks for watching!
Did you use exhaust wraps on the cables?
Hey BCR great bike!! im in the process of building an 85. ive been looking for days, where can I find those pipes that are designed for mid controls?
Hey Phil, thanks for checking out the video. Here is the link to the pipes I purchased off of ebay - www.ebay.com/itm/1-3-4-Chrome-LAF-L-A-F-Exhaust-Header-Set-Drag-Pipes-Harley-Ironhead-Sportster/361482159199?fits=Year%3A1983%7CModel%3ASportster+1000%7CMake%3AHarley-Davidson&hash=item542a04045f:g:ifEAAOSwKRJcbZ23
Take my like Men
That's cool
Thanks for share
(I'm not good English 😅)
Thanks for watching friend!
I'd love to do a similar project. are those stock wheels you had powder coated? what tires do you have on it front and rear?
Hey thanks for checking out the video! Yes these are the stock wheels that I had powdercoated. I'll throw up a link to the tires in the first comment. I forgot to add those. Also, if you want to see more pictures of this build from start to finish go to my instagram @baycityrestorations and scroll all the way back to the beginning. This is the first build I did on the page.
@@BayCityRestorations very cool. thanks. this is a great build, I love tank design. The AMF days weren't the best quality but the bikes looked good.
@@aaronhirsh5487 Thank you I appreciate it! I agree I'm constantly chasing oil leaks on this bike haha but aesthetically it is a great looking bike! also the plus side is you can usually pick up one of these era sportsters pretty cheap.
Where did you buy the seat, lights, rear eliminator from
The seat is made by La Rosa. It was purchased awhile ago now so I don't know if they still make the same one. The lights and rear eliminator were purchased off ebay.
What size are your tires? The front looks a little fatter than mine. Thanks!!
Appreciate you checking out the video! I was running a 100/90-19 on the front of this one. I think that is the stock size or maybe 1 over
@@BayCityRestorations I saw it in the description after I asked. Sorry for bugging you. Lol
Thanks for the reply!!
Watch ma ride- harley davidson sportster chrome&golden
Hows that seat?
It mounts nice and secure to the frame. The springs give your back at least some relief from the bumps in the road.
An Indian perhaps 🤔
