Sometimes those sets are a waste, but they are fucking cool at the same time, hehe. Don't you dare get rid of that Desekrator album, it's a gem. And there are some big names playing on that album, they are just not very proud of the drunken moments, haha. Metal is for demons! Cheers. 🤘🏻🤘🏻

Hey cool video. I was curious about that box set. I am always a sucker for stuff like that. That is really cool you have the old box set with the VHS.
I'm a sucker for them too, but I probably should have passed on this one and put the money towards the Celtic Frost box, haha. Even when I had nothing to play the cassette or VHS on, I couldn't let go of that old set. Thanks man!
I remember Frantic Bleep from from the early 2000s. Part of that time when the old Norwegian scene was evolving in a unique way. I have never checked out Diabolique. Sounds like a far cry from Grotesque. Mindcrime is the last Queensryche record I can get in to. Empire is a little too radio friendly for my ears. Great video, Scott!
I was in to Empire and Promised Land, but then I was done. I've heard the new lineup is good but haven't investigated. You would have no idea Diabolique came from Grotesque if you didn't know ahead of time. I can dig some goth but this was just boring to me. Thanks, Bill!
I own from when it was released back in 2006 , the boxset that includes Livecrime on dvd and back then it costed 25€ which was overall a great release bearing in mind the rarity of Livecrime which was originally taped on VHS and by that time had become obsolete as a medium. Wish within the boxset were posters, singles and why not some unique merchandising. Great review. Ryche 'n Roll
The past release you got was a good one. This new one is really a slightly fancier version of that with a much higher price tag. You are right, they should have included some extra stuff, even a poster would have been nice. Thanks for the kind words, and for watching!
I'm happy with my original copy, although there is a lot of music packed onto one record.
Came close to re-buying the 2 record re-issue, but spent my money elsewhere. The current line-up of the
band i like as well.

That is a lot of music to cram on one LP. I am not as familiar with the current lineup but I will be seeing them in the spring; they are playing the EP and The Warning in full so I am very excited for the show. Thanks, Keith!
I'm a psycho for Operation Mindcrime - I already have the Livecrime box set and that other VHS tape, so the only thing the 5 disc box offers for me is the book, the behind the scenes of making the music videos, and the other live concert that sounds real similar to the Wisconsin one. I don't like the remastering either. I think it was $70 and I can't say I'm thrilled with the purchase. Cheers Scott!
It is one of my all time favorite albums so I felt I HAD to have it, but I'm with you. I already have a separate CD of the Livecrime show in addition to the cassette box, so there isn't much chance I'm going to listen to anything on this very often. Thanks, Tom!

Apart from Queensrÿche, these are all new to me. I will admit that I have a weakness for box sets.
The box looks great, so there's that, but the contents aren't worth the money imo. More effort on the book would have gone a long way. Thanks, Brian!
My mouth dropped when you showed a VHS / cassette combo box set! How amazing!!! Where is the 8-track? Desecrator cover is so not scary metal! I guess you said it’s more comedic…Garden of Worm - that drawing on the cover is so weird and sad. I’ll check out that cover version.
Haha, now that cassettes are cool and all the hipsters collect VHS maybe my obsolete box set is worth money! Not that I would ever sell it, it was a Christmas gift from my parents and I was so excited to get it. Thanks, GG!

I've nearly bought metal for demons a few times but have managed not to bother wasting my cash on it so far 😅. Garden of Worm sounds interesting as I'm not much of a doom guy. Can't get into Operation Mindcrime but I'll give it another go but I've got 2 stacks of cds in front of it and I'm in no rush to move them 😅. Personally I prefer a boxset unless it's a reissue with nothing new to add to the collection.

I too saw that tour. Did you see it at Joe Lewis or did they play Van Andel? Thought it was cool, yet weird, to have Suicidal Tendencies opening.
It was weird for ST to open and I wasn't a big fan but they won me over. Van Andel didn't exist yet, I saw them at good old Wings Stadium in Kalamazoo! Van Andel tends to take all those midsize shows now. Thanks, Trevor!

The bonus track I was referring to is called "Overseeing the Operation", and it is just clips of various songs from the album strung together. I have no idea why it was made or what it is supposed to mean.
1. I only remember that Jethro Tull beat Metallica for the Grammy that year, haha. Operation Mindcrime would have been my pick, but that award is trash anyway.
2. I didn't save any of my VHS tapes, I did have a bunch of Headbangers Ball stuff but they are long gone.
3. Extreme metal is tough to define, but generally stuff that would never be on the radio. Of the bands you mentioned I would pick Mercyful Fate, Deicide, Bathory, and Venom as "extreme."
4. On one of my trips to Montreal for Marillion Weekend the Canadiens were in the playoffs at the same time, so saw a lot of merch at that time. I say "Montreal" like an American who doesn't know French, haha.

1. I would take Operations over Metallica, Operations over Jethro Tull , Operations over the othe band nominated in the Metal side if though that year was a split year.
2. I might have the rock blocks not sure if it's down stairs i'm not sure which bands ..
Cool set, but yah they could have done a better job with the presentation for that price.
They packed a bunch of discs full of material but the effort wasn't there for good rare stuff or a nice writeup in the book. I'm not mad I bought it but just wanted to make others aware so they could make their own decision.
