    One thing they could do in the current sim is improve the night lighting on the photogrammetry buildings in some way. They look dreadful currently. Many places you fly towards the center of a city at night and it's just a black abyss until you're practically on top of the geometry when some tiny little gridded light splotches appear.

    • @anony88

      Night lighting could be improved for sure.

      Absolutely right. Photogrammetry in general, I’d love to see some big improvements too (along with just more coverage). Night lighting and building lights are a big part that needs to be reworked.

    I’d love for them to do more and better discovery flights. Some discoveries feel empty and don’t have a lot to them. They could also put places like Boston, Dubai, Hong Kong, and Cape Horn.

    After four years I feel I'm still playing a beta game. There is something strange with FS2020...
    I have the same feel for 3rd party softwares. For example, PMDG couldn't deliver 777, 747...737 seems not totally finished.

    An example of this is KMCF in Florida. The 3D approach lights do not line up with the photogrammetry on the ground they are just slightly to the right of the ground imagery so they are almost in the trees and the runway too, is slightly to the right and as are the taxi ways.

    Backwards compatibility is a big deal, good on them for that. I imagine it will put to bed a lot of the discontent about releasing a new version so soon.

    • @ImpendingJoker
      @ImpendingJoker 3 месяца назад +1

      This is not a new thing. The newer versions of flight sim have ALWAYS been backwards compatible with at least the previous version and often the previous 2 versions and with some rework the previous 3 versions. In fact there has been recently more FSX planes that have been brought forward into MSFS, and they may not have clickable cockpits but they are still very fun to fly.

    • @WhiteHawk77
      @WhiteHawk77 3 месяца назад

      They mentioned that around the first announcement, and as if they were going to do any different, it’s been done many times before in Flight Simulator’s history, there’s no need for the “good on them” here.
      Now if they actually deal with the new sim a hell of a lot better than they did the current one, that would certainly deserve it, but there’s fat chance of that.

  • @CubeAtlantic

    i like how detailed they're possibly trying to develop an ending, even doe Flight Simulator don't have those high-tech finales.

      No, it will not. MSFS shipped only needing a 20 series card, and we're in the 40series now, so I at most I would see a 30series being the base and a 4080 being the recommended. I have a 4070 Super and run MSFS on Ultra settings, so no, a 50series card is not going to be needed.

    Sounds great except they don't name the regions...What is lacking in the current sim is Far East data - As i live in NZ, I fly mostly in my home territory then Australia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Philippines, Korea, Japan , Thailand and China and of course North America - apart from Japan and North America , NZ and Australia, i find the rest of the scenery severely lacking in realistic landscapes

    • @amillionmileride
      @amillionmileride 3 месяца назад

      A lot of that data (notably Russia, Ukraine, Korea, Vietnam, China, and basically the entirety of the Middle East) is most likely politically restricted. Since Microsoft is tying into Bing Maps and Google Earth to generate terrain, there’s a lot in those regions that those governments want to hide.

    I have owned every version of MSFS since the first release (FS1) and currently have FS-X. I also have the first version of X-Plane, which I've never played because my PC was too slow. I still have several versions of MSFS including the original packaging. Now I have a fast PC, I loaded X-Plane, but the setup - controls etc. seems way too burdensome and maybe FS 2024 is a better option!
    My Question: I don't know anything about 'Steam' and "Game Pass' etc., but want to buy a really good, realistic flight sim with good graphics as a stand-alone Sim (Not online). Twice I have almost purchased the 2020 Premium Deluxe ($120) but stop when I know I have to spend hours downloading it and am not sure if I'm wasting my time.
    Should I just sit with FS-X and wait for the 2024 version, or would the offer of 2020 40th Aniv. be worthwhile?

    • @tdchewy
      @tdchewy 3 месяца назад +1

      If you don't know what Steam or GamePass are and configuration is too much of a chore for you, perhaps Flight Sim has passed you by. If you're still enjoying the now 18 plus year old FSX, I'd say stick with that.

    • @warreneast1144

      @@tdchewy Believe it or not, I wanted some wisdom. I don't LIVE for FS', I have a busy life and simply want to buy a Sim that is set-up to fly like the older Sims! And, why should I have to understand Steam and Game-pass to enjoy a FlightSim? Many people on this website are pilots like myself, but choose to get as close to realism as they can. I'm a retired Medical Imaging Engineer with plenty of experience in technical stuff, but not the knowledge of terms, product names and jargon used today that, unless you are keeping up with all the modern trends and technology, quickly change and are updated. Many new 'things' that you (may) know about will disappear after 10 years and be replaced by the same thing, but a different name eg. "Blue-ray" is simply Bandwidth. I used to configure X-Ray, MRI and CT, U/S etc. but X-Plane needs many controls configured, and for the life of me I cannot understand why they couldn't place a default config and let users modify it if they wanted. Good luck with your narrow-minded life!

      @@funkyschnitzel Clearly you have never flown a real c172. The default c172 in xp12 likes to slam the rwy.
      The one I fly irl doesn’t do that. Ground effect is better in msfs.

    Interesting. More than anything I really hope to see the the atmosphere of airports and aviation improved upon and made more realistic. What do I mean by that? Well, for anyone who’s a pilot, enthusiast, industry worker etc; You could tell the Asobo devs didn’t have a lot of experience and time amongst the industry and culture by how MSFS began. A lot of the aircraft they chose to include were very exotic and hardly ever seen in real world aviation circles. The paint schemes (liveries) they chose and the even the generic ai aircraft they made to populate the spaces were atrocious. It seemed to lack passion in those areas because any aviation enthusiast would tell you that whatever is more life-like and accurate IS what’s cool. It matters to the buffer and distinction between “flying game” and “flight simulator”. I really hope to see things like taxiways, ramps, thresholds, FBO’s, terminals and gateways, airport perimeter fencing and their transitions into photogrammetry and especially ground and air traffic greatly improved upon. Speaking just for myself, I think the greatest thing about being a pilot and flying is being able to observe our world from above. It’s truly euphoric. That absolutely can be translated into the sim, but these details have to be convincing. Cars, highways, road signs and how they differ between countries and regions, power lines, trees, etc. These things can really bring the world to life if done right. The job of high fidelity aircraft and scenery has largely had to have been fixed and submitted by 3rd party devs in payware addons. That’s great, but I hope Asobo really pour energy into the framework so these developers can better improve the world. I’d love to see photogrammetry reworked with more coverage and the transitional areas between auto/photo improved so the difference isn’t as jarring. I’d love to se the framework for flight models fixed so that helicopters can really be developed. The current offerings/models are quite poor when compared to their real life counterparts. What I mean is, they don’t feel and fly at all the way helicopters do IRL where as fixed wing addons like the A2A commanche, Cessna 414AW, Maddog, Fenix A320, and the new B60 Duke feel absolutely fantastic and very realistic in their behavior.
    It’s exciting and I am very much rooting for them, I just hope they lean towards realism/simulation and modifiable framework and less towards tropey-game elements.

      No. In the past planes that were added in official Expansions came out for free with later versions. Take the 40th Anniversary edition of MSFS, they released a LOT of planes that had come out with FS2004 and FSX, and we got the Maverick DLC for free that was similar to addons in the FSX: Acceleration expansion. So, no, if you already have the premium edition I don't think you'll have to buy it again to get access to your current hangar of aircraft, however, it is more likely that a new "premium" version will have aircraft that are not part of the current version of the sim.

The fact they're coming out with the A-10 is laughable when I think of how it will compare to the A-10c in DCS. (I fly that every day.) There's just no way they can match it. Not to mention to accurately model all of the aircraft systems, which DCS does.

    after they finally fixed the Decathlon achievement (or at least provided a way of completing it) I'm now on MSFS hiatus until 2024 comes out. I'm getting a bit worried however that that will be this year. We are 6 months into the year and updates on MSFS have been very scarce to say the least. I expected some more flashy updates akin to the announcement trailer to build some hype but so far it's been quiet. I don't expect them to just release it with a month's notice without having run a proper PR campaign leading up to it. Going by that I think that realistically the earliest would be an October/November release for the Christmas season ... at which point, why not call it MSFS 2025. Well, it will get released at some point ... until then there is still Vermintide 2 and Farming Simulator 22 😂
