I'm pretty sure the reason why 3 out of the 5 eldritch foreigners are artists (Van gogh, Hokusai and his daughter are painters, Yang is a musician) is because, well, the mind of a creative is probably a far better place for an eldritch god than the mind of a normal person. Honestly I just wish we got more artist foreigners, no better fusion than art and insanity.
As an artist myself... Yeah, I understand. Sometimes in order I feel like I drive myself insane to get through a writer's block. Oh, God I hope I haven't invited some Old God to dig around into my in my brain.
I remember this was explicitly one of the plot aspects of Shadow over Innsmouth. That, according to interviews conducted by the main cast, stuffy academics just suffered restless sleep, blue-collar working class folks had slightly more vivid dreams of working vigorously for some unseen task, and it was writers and artists who had big enough brains to actually see the undersea nightmare that was C'thulu's realm. Now, not for nothing, but this out-of-universe feels like Lovecraft being rather cross with his schoolteachers for pointing out he was terrible with numbers and being generally racist/elitist, particularly about the working class. Guy was kind of terrible, and Shadow over Innsmouth has a *lot* of blatantly racist stuff in it. But, Creative minds being more easily linked to certain eldritch gods does make a degree of sense in the contexts mentioned, even if I'd argue more Logic driven minds have their own elder gods suited for corruption. It's all relative.
It is actually in the lore. During call of Cthulhu, a lot of people started to dream of the city where cthulu dwells. A professor in that book conducted research and discovered that the average working class american is unaffected, the scientists had some occasional nightmares but the artistic people like painters and poets are all affected by the dreams. Maybe that's why most of the foreigners are artists.
It for this reason that I really hope we get Francisco Goya as a Foreigner. He's a perfect fit for the class. I'm not well-versed in Lovecraftian lore, so I am unsure which Outer God would manifest in Goya.
And let’s not forgot that Hokusai and Cthulhu have another connection. Cthulhu being an octopus faced entity and Hokusai painting The Dream of the Fisherman’s Wife, one of the first recorded tentacle p*** pieces. Crazy.
Yep, you'd think his pioneer of the star skill will make him somewhat competitive since he possibly has the highest rank (he's even on the MOON cell for god sake), but nope, got wiped in his first fight
@@williamkwl6153 i really hope they retcon that version of him and make the real version a gigachad or something. Van Gogh being combined with clytie also has the reason of that van Gogh kept trying to kill himself when the elder god tried to merge with him so he merged Gogh with clytie, an immortal, so that Gogh couldn't kill himself The other reasons are really fun to hear about Also I'm pretty sure koyonskaya was taken care of by actual dobrnya, but the one we summoned was the wife due to plot reasons

I like to think of the higher-ranking Outer Gods as not being good or evil, but each being the embodiment of a particular concept in _every_ possible sense. "Through the Gates of the Silver Key" exemplifies this by portraying the "true form" of Yog-Sothoth as being just an unfathomable but formless presence. As much as we dream of a mature lovecraftian adult male, I’m very doubtful at this point. I know I’m sounding negative but I doubt we’re gonna get Moriarty or king Hassan levels of cool in the foreigner class.
@@vermgilbestdad3678 honestly I could see that being the case or we end up finally getting Randolph Carter as a servant in some form. I’d suspect if we got Lovecraft we may get him with Azathoth or the Necronomicon or potentially we get Abdul Alhazred the original author of the Necronomicon. Would be quite an interesting addition either way and I think lore-wise it could work just fine as Lovecraft while having friends and family was also a major recluse and shied away from the human race due to major amounts of loss in his life. So I think it would work.
Thank you for going over my favourite class! Now with 150sq, 20 tickets, and whatever I can get by the time her banner drops, I shall try for Van Gogh. (Late) Update: Van Gogh came home, and I am very happy. She is so precious and must be loved.
Since concepts are on the table for becoming servants because of Maxwell's demon being one another interesting concept I would like to see become a servant or just used in general in fate would be the technological singularity which is the idea that since technology increases at a exponential rate eventually technology would improve so rapidly it would have irreversibly changed humanity and likely the entire world one example for how something like this could be done would be if you could make an AI that was capable of improving itself at an exponential rate doing that would make a being a ever increasing intelligence that would rapidly outsmart humanity the same way humanity outsmart's jellyfish essentially making it something like a technological God which I think would be an interesting idea for fate again I know this is unrelated to the video I just thought it would be cool to talk about.
The Foreigner class servants are a favorite of mine, they're what got me interested in Lovecraftian horror! It may seem quaint to say this, but it feels honorable to get the chance of pulling a Foreigner class Servant; that's a pretty difficult outcome to achieve so a clap and a tip of the occult mask to the character designers! Btw great video Klidge! Also, that prediction about a future Servant, The King in Yellow would be amazing. I fell in love with the representation of the King in Yellow in VN, "Sucker for love" , so I hope the guys at Lasengle consider it and get a dainty girl to start reading play script as her character's voicelines.X)
Ideas for videos I'd like to see... Well, curious if there is any Servants you think deserve a heavy animation buff, and if so, who those are. I know there's still a slew of early-game servants who deserve better than their faire. Past that, maybe a ranking of Top 5/Bottom 5 Interludes in your opinion? And finally, I'll suggest doing a video diving into hypothetical servants. That post-video concept on the King in Yellow/The Leper King was very good, would love to see that fleshed out. Good talk! Voyager best boi! Hololive Collab When! Peace!
Honestly I would love an azathoth servant where the np is a reality marble where azathoth wakes up and blinks everything out of existence guaranteed death on everything enemies the full front row and gives a debuff to back row that 1 turn after kills them as well unless guts or rebuff clear occurs
I’m SHOCKED they haven’t added any Lovecraft direct characters snd have only added the monsters to real people. I’ve always wanted Olmstead as a Rider or a Berserker since he would bring a very new type of lovecraftian style to the game: not the dark lords themselves, but their results
It would be kinda badass if we got Azathot's avatar or something similar since he, ya know, can't wake up unless we all want to go poof. It would be even better if it fused with a sane human and left them completely sane as well, kinda like he doesn't want to wake up cause he likes the universe he is dreaming up but he wants to be a part of it so he blesses someone as his avatar and makes them unconditionally overpowered so they won't die on him and can enjoy spectating everything going on at Earth. The best vessel would either be ironically scientists/ astrologers/ astronomers like Einstein since they try to unravel the secrets of the universe or someone like King Hassan/Merlin who technically are alive till the end of time. In fact, it would be wonderful if they were close friends with those 2 and/or other "spectator" existences rather than having a direct impact. But that's what I would prefer, I can totally see them turning the most powerful outer god into a goth loli or something like that. I really want it to be Einstein, however, since he technically is the father of the atomic bomb, which has basically derailed humanity and wars jumping from loss of life to loss of species in a few years due to nuclear fallout and whatnot easily making him much scarier than many other people in fate. Making him a perfectly sane, happy and outgoing person would be the best, having the powers and secrets of the universe and still the same passion he had when he was alive.
I have been wanting to watch this video since it was released but every time I see Van Gogh in the thumbnail I realize I have nothing saved up because Gil stole all my quartz
15:09 I thought wiki said that it was the Male Nikitich aka the actual Nikitich? and his wife was summoned cuz depsite Nikitich being a super-reliable ultra competent hero who can do anything but take care of their children. Of which they both, as wife and husband, consider Koyan to be theirs.
Now that I think about it. Considering LB7 is close and it has Grand Zerker in it, would it be possible if they add a new Foreigner class servant which is an Azatoth avatar? Or perhaps even H.P. Lovecraftian himself, to counter the Grand Zerker.
It's worth pointing out that neither Calamity Jane nor Space Ishtar have Existence Outside the Domain. Slightly surprising, considering Ishtar's very existence. Also, it's localised on NA as 'Entity of the Outer Realm,' for anyone confused.

Following lore, I don't think there is such a thing as Grand grade Extra Classes (maybe Ruler/Avenger but even then that's a stretch.). The Foreigner Elucid in Fate/Requiem seem to hinting they are connected to Hastur
Facts and knowledge that renewed my love for foreigners ❤️✨
Btw, your new model looks dope, keep going with the cool work✨
how i didnt realize that voyager is inspired by the little prince until now is beyond me.
It seems Fate likes to portray historical black magic users as lovecraftian wizards, like Gilles and Abigail
As much as we dream of a mature lovecraftian adult male, I’m very doubtful at this point. I know I’m sounding negative but I doubt we’re gonna get Moriarty or king Hassan levels of cool in the foreigner class.
Damn that’s upsetting. I would like to see a Badass Male Foreigner servant. 😢
One of the options could be Lovecraft himself, unless it's impossible lorewise, I'm not that well-versed with the lore...
I get that Van Gogh has a good design philosophy I’m just upset we didn’t get to have actual Van Gogh
the effort you put in these videos are admirable, thank you
Hastor is gonna be some variant of Nero and you know it
Thank you for going over my favourite class! Now with 150sq, 20 tickets, and whatever I can get by the time her banner drops, I shall try for Van Gogh.
(Late) Update: Van Gogh came home, and I am very happy. She is so precious and must be loved.
Update: they dropped a Saber Astolfo banner and now I'm extremely conflicted.
@@maple_flavoured Stay strong, Saber Astolfo is momentary Van Gogh is eternal
Grand Berserker Laika is a servant I didn't know I needed until now
We are also missing Narlethotep as an old gad as well.
I’m pretty sure BB has that one
H.P Lovecraft himself need to come. Imagine him becoming a Foreigner not because space horrors want to possessed him but because of his own madness.
Peace!
Ooo the Mad Enhancement skill sounds interesting for each servant by how the level work the higher the more mad or mind they have!
Honestly I would love an azathoth servant where the np is a reality marble where azathoth wakes up and blinks everything out of existence guaranteed death on everything enemies the full front row and gives a debuff to back row that 1 turn after kills them as well unless guts or rebuff clear occurs
Perfect lesson, like always
:O They said The King In Yellow's name! I'll keep you in my thoughts Klidge.
Hey, Abby's one of my Lv 100's too. Haven't Max Bonded her yet, but working on it.
Lvl 100 Abby Gang 😤✊
Valthun reminds me slot of Notes interpretation of V/V, also known as Type Venus.
Mysterious heroine double X is my favorite Saber face along with Okita and Nero
I also expect that if they ever decide to add Lovecraft itself as a servant, that he is a foreigner possessed by Azathoth, the blind idiot god.
Isn't it implied that the real Abigail at the end of the Salem chapter went on an interdimensional journey with Probably Lovecraft? Or am I misremembering things, it's been a while
@@deppudeppudeppu Yes, the Carter from the end of Salem is basically implied to be Lovecraft himself
With Hastur, maybe he is in Fgo already. We don’t know who the mysterious man from Chaldea really is yet. But it kinda makes sense if it was Hastur.
He is Goetia.
@@michaelmcdoesntexist1459 yeah I know. But they haven't explicitly said it yet
@@belphy205 key word is 'explicitly'. But he is. You can see him in Moonlight/Lostroom taking Solomon's Ring.
But honestly? I would love to see more Outer Gods on FGO.
@@michaelmcdoesntexist1459 I know. Just a fun idea.
Foreigner Don Quixote When?
18:37 my favorite trap(Nyaruko-chan reference)
Idk who it could be, or wether or not they’re already here, but I feel like Nyarlathotep would be a pretty cool foreigner to have, my mind says someone who was politically and economically important but well known for having caused Atrocities
he kind of is in Summer BB but deserves a more prominent role for sure
@@klidge Nyarlathotep took one look at Summer BB and decide that "Damn, that girl will cause so much chaos" and then he lend his power for free
It was mentioned that Abigail Williams was aged down. From what I've read Abbie was actually around 10 - 12 yo during the witch trials. It was just in the play "The Crucible" that she was made 17 yo jailbait. So FGO was actually more accurate historically.
Lyka the space dog so desperately deserves to be a servant. Because anime I imagine the first to forms would likely be animal ears on cute girl. But if she’s foreigner class make her 3rd assencion like a pitch black lobo
Vid is currently at 666 likes... I don't want to disrupt it.
I watched the Halloween episode! I liked it.
Another one for both...
Really cool video!
Also, you're looking great!
ONE DAY I'LL GET YOU VOYAGER!! one day...
Grand Foreigner Inanis when??
"Kuroboshi art"
Well, now that you mention it....
While not a expressively Lovecraftian product, Hastur is a great addition to the mythos. But who would be worthy of the King in Yellow? A writer seems appropriate. I'll be honest I'm coming up empty on any writer/artist worthy to host the drama inclined ruler or Carcosa.
According to Fate/Requiem, he got Euclid as vessel
Oui is also due to her painting under her father's name
Old man Hokusai telling an outer god he has trash taste. Bruh.
Klidge now looks like he’s an uncle of ameri from uruma-kun
I still think they should put H.P. Lovecraft in as an evil servant and make the one who gives him power Azathoth.
Meanwhile Kagetora looks like Artoria with hair loosen and dyed white but not being a Saberface and Kintoki rider who rides a fking motocyle doesn't have Riding passive
but the real question is, who will be the grand foreigner?!
Extra class have Grand servant?
@@abear1891 No, they don't, well unless NASU decided to retcon that
Following lore, I don't think there is such a thing as Grand grade Extra Classes (maybe Ruler/Avenger but even then that's a stretch.). Alter Egos are already rule breaking by their nature, and Moon Cancers are literally a hack. And who knows what Shielder is about. Foreigners are not part of the Grand Ritual by their very nature. BUT the Grand Foreigner is whoever would be possessed by Azathoth (however horrifying that would be.).
ORT
great video, still have no clue what makes a foreigner a foreigner
Well....
Looking good Klidge. Also, amazing video as always.
9:19 THERE'S MY FAVORITE FOREIGNER!!
Also good video Klidge! I absolutely love the foreigner lore, it's my favorite part of fgo lore honestly
What about...the watcher class
Can't wait for the moon cancer video
would this make for a good FATE holy grail war?
Lancer: Leonidas
Saber: Agravain
Rider: St.Martha
Caster: Nitocris
Assassin: Grendel
berserker: Beowulf
Archer: Billy the Kid
Shielder: Artoria
I will say a "Crazy Old Man" beating Cthullu isn't as much of stretch to anyone from the TTRPG communities, because of the story of "Old Man Henderson"
Gaijin Class Servants
Wasn't Hastur hinted to be the Outer God merged with Euclid in Requiem?
Oh this video is before
I hate how klidge only talked about Yang not only in a very surface level way in comparison to literally everyone else but her segment is less than a minute long despite her having more lore than what he talked about here.
I thought haster was connected to summer bb the Hawaiian one
Damn so foreigners are basically what happens when they add Ohio into FGO or rather the servant verse
When can we get a Foreigner Servant based off the Color from Outer Space
Name the outer god in that and we'll see
@@michaeldaniels642 idk if the color has a name
@@madambutterfly1997 and that right there is why it won't be used. Even if they don't explicitly say the names in FGO they still need to know which outer god they are using and nobody knows what was in that book beyond just it being a color.
@@michaeldaniels642 make it some kind of Eldredge butterfly demon and then give it a name
In response to klidge pointing out that Cthulhu was effectively shut down by a crazy old man, I'd just like to say that if you consider Fate as, "what if Lovecraft liked anime" then it explains a lot.
Gaijin Servants
Awww new form awesome!
Lookin' good!
Shub WHO?!
Great Video
Okay, listen my idea:
If there's a Walts 2 event, I hope they make MHX or XX into a pretender.
Why? Because she would be pretending to be an idol to kill Sabers.
That's it,it was a fun idea I had someday and wanted to share.
One day, i hope to get a foreigner that isn't a small child or a lady. I want a grumpy old man whose is possessed by a demon. is that too much to ask?
Same. I want a grumpy and intimidating old man or a man who’s is constantly going through a middle age crisis.
...non-euclidean
fun fact: Lovecraft was a huge racist....like even for his time he was considered extrem and a lot of his stories show this....usally his stories are a game of "can you spot the character that isnt british or of british decent....yep that's the horrific monster bad guy in disguise". The guy was scared of and abhorred by anything he didn't understand, which considerring the time and place he lived in and his lacking edducation....was a lot.
Isnt hastur already in requiem as euclid or so i have heard
yes
