There is one issue with 870 visa. You need to be permanent resident for at least 4 years. That is very disappointing if you wish to bring your parents before that. Let's be pragmatic. The parents are not getting younger. 4 years is a long time.
My mom is alone in Sri Lanka. I have had my PR for 2 years now and I got into med school this year. So I'm not able to meet the income test while studying. Is there any other way of showing income, rather than the annual income from working? I worked as a registered nurse for 4 years until last year and had my income from that until now. Can I make an exception?
If my understanding is correct, i need to have a record of income for one full financial year before i can apply for 870? I'm only asking because we have only been here less than a month.

One question, what could be reasonable ground to ask for a onshore sponsorship approval for my 63 year widowed mum, currently living with us in Alice spring. And we have no one back home to take care of her in case she gets sick. And also is there different process involved when you want to request onshore approval compare to the offshore one. Age 72-75 are they still approve that age for parents visa?
