I wore Luminox watches for 20+ years when Barry Cohen pioneered the company. I purchased a Protek Field watch after he started the Protek brand. Although my Protek is a quartz watch with tritium markers, it is a comfortable, stylish and accurate watch with great lume. I'm sure the automatic Protek watches are of excellent quality. If you are a Tritium watch fan, you can't go wrong with a Protek.
Nice watch. I watched an interview with Mr. Cohen a while back. I had the quartz model on my radar but didn't pull the trigger. He actually contacted me months later to ask if I bought one. NICE personal touch.
I have five or six Luminox watches including an original Navy Seal purchased in 1997. The tritium is still glowing but just barely. I also have several Deep Blue watches that use T100 Tritium and Seiko NH 35 movements. Their prices are very competitive compared to other brands.
The biggest issue with Deep Blue are the sizes of most of their watches. I have a Deep Blue Commander with tritium and like the watch, but I'd like it more if it were smaller and a bit lighter.
@@Conundrum191 They have smaller ones. I have one that’s 39-40mm, 47mm lug to lug, 13mm thick with Seiko day/date auto movement, 300m W/R with helium escape valve. It’s not Tritium but glows very bright.
3:17 "Police Car..." Sounded like you were back in Philly with TGV LOLOLOLOLOL Like the watch, if it didn't have the USMC on it I'd be in. Maybe down the road they'll make one without that marking.
Great offering! I love Luminox … and this one is no different. Simple, legible and seems to be built solid but, at 85 grams, it should be super light and comfortable even if it’s a “chunky” watch. Thanks for sharing.
Nice watch indeed. Some info for reference - Omega Seamaster 300M ( 2531 ) is 11.7 mm thick. There are some other stainless steel watches that can handle 30ATM and will be much slimmer . Maybe carbon composite case in combination with NH35 requires such a chunky 16 mm case
Deep Blue has very similar watches with almost identical specifications. $150 to $250…….. same movement, same case material, same depth rating, same screw down crown, same sapphire crystal, same strap options (plus many more options), same design. Worth a look also.
I’m very happy with my deep blue day night T100 trutium, with the Seiko NH35 movement, which cost me £250 all in, inc. UPS international shipping to the UK. 🙌🏻
I really like this watch. It ticks a lot of boxes for me. For some reason I prefer numbers on my dial, vs hashes or dots. I really would like a tritium watch, and it looks both tough and very usable. I'm glad you're carrying it.
Looks very similar tube layout to my Luminox quartz (no surprise) which even if I havent worn it is now my daily very subdued bedside "clock" - real easy to read as soon as my sleep adjusted eyes open.
Very cool. And nothing like making a video about a super tough manly watch wearing a cute bunny t-shirt! Which I love BTW. And the introductory price is very good in case anyone is wondering. Thanks!
I am still waiting for an affordable tritium watch. I kind of doubt that will happen. This one is too expensive for me and that 50 lug to lug makes it wear rather big. Thanks for sharing the watch and good luck selling them.
I wish that Islander/Spinnaker #SP-5062-LIW11 was still available. Missed it when they first came in. Awesome combo (Also wish it was a bigger diameter)
Deep Blue tritium blows all others away I own two of them plus the tritium tubes are shaped like indices which make them longer and bigger and much brighter. You can see the Luminox influence in the tritium tube design on these Protek watches as I also own two of them. Six months ago Deep Blue was offering up there tritium line up starting at $149.00 all the same specs as these. I did not check their site for current pricing but I'm sure it's about the same plus they offer multi color tubes and band choice. Sorry Mark still love ya ❤ I have bought a number of watches from you and will again.😊
If / When tritium stops glowing after 20 years do any of these company's that use it over a service to replace them ? And if they do is it affordable? Always wondered this.
Any chance that the caseback is same threading as an SKX so that a slight m caseback could be swapped in to reduce thickness? (Obviously that would reduce WR and void warranty at buyers risk)
Is carbon case defined as carbon fiber? Or more of a plastic case? I had a Luminox carbon plastic case that the pins for the strap pulled and then was useless afterwards. The pins would never hold again due to the pin holes were tore. Tudor now offers the FXD with a carbon case and I am hesitant to purchase for the same reason.
I wish more watch companies offered more tritium instead of lume paint on their watches! I own a tritium field watch and I love it. No, need to charge the lume with a light source and it will never dim. Well, never I mean in about 20-25 years it may dim to the point I will replace the watch.
The main problem with tritium is the difficulty of importing/exporting between countries because it is a radioactive element, doesn't matter the volume
@@cesaryanezfernandez9799 Its all scare tactics to protect markets. Getting a single sunburn will do more damage to your skin since this isotope does not have the energy to penetrate skin.
Hey Mark, good afternoon! I am watching your channel long time and there is a watch a Squale 1545 With ceramic basil, double dorm, crystal and sword hand. I really like this watch my idea. Could you guys make it like it’s definitely not looks like any other Rolex copy stand it on its own I just like to buy a watch which is doesn’t looks like for the first look it does looks like an old Rolex. Thank you very much. I am waiting for the progress.
Deep blue watches make some reasonably priced tritium divers paid 300$ for mine black on black just checked deep blue auto carbon case on a strap t100 Luke 249$😊
I wouldn't be surprised if more watches start having tritium inserts. The main market for tritium was for gun sights, but they are losing popularity with everyone adopting electronic red dot sights on handguns now. I just check my old work handgun which has 17 year old tritium sights, they still faintly glow.
There have been quality issues; my guess is Luminox got complacent because of the SEAL connection. There have been reports especially of the dot on the bezel falling off. If you're the original purchaser AND you've registered, Luminox will fix it within the warranty period.
Yay! Finally a red dial from Marc. Thanks so much, the red dial actually looks pretty cool, and the price is not bad either. I will definitely add this to my shopping list
No wonder you hid the price until the end. That's the point at which everyone will back out of the video. I'd pass on this one even at half the $695 tag.
I like my women a little on the thick side, not my watches. Hello 😏 But seriously the red one looks cool. Same size wrist but I can't rock those big watches like you.
luminox have too many things that are way better than this watch at this price point,,, 1-SWISS made 2- sapphire crystal 3-real rubber band 4-numbers on the dial 5-quartz automatics are not a good idea on a tactical watch.,,,, otherwise good looking watch.
Why so many watches must be automatic? I consider (good quality) quartz much better, battery change every 5 to 10 years, and thats it. And as bonus, they also keep time much better than mechanicals. Servicing an automatic (at least in FI where I live) is as expensive as buying a new watch - ridiculous! So I would like to see more good quality quartz based models, perhaps solar driven, and less affordable mechanical ones, as servicing those does not make much sense!
As watch enthusiasts we are usually drawn towards the mechanical watches. They’re more interesting. Quartz is by far more practical, but so is looking at your phone to tell the time There are good quartz watches out there, though. Seiko has some great quartz, solar watches. Casio is god-tier. I’m wearing a Marathon quartz right now.
How about a tritium Islander?.😊
One day, maybe!

In Australia this watch is way more expensive than 90% of Luminox watches
I have an armour lite watch with tritium. Quartz movement. Great watch. It's not a good idea to wear my automatic watches at work. Love your videos!
Marc, any chance they'll eventually make this without the USMC decor? I was Army, and wearing the USMC logo would be just weird!
