  • This Plywood Sawhorse/Assembly Table/Crosscut Table Project is part 1 of a 3 part series, part 2 (link below) is a plywood crosscut assembly table to use for breaking down full sheets of plywood and in part 3 I just finished making a modified version of the Paulk workbench, the video is up now and the link is listed below.
    The assembly table/workbench is one piece and measures 36" x 60", and also serves as a much needed out feed table for the table saw and other equipment.
    I built these plywood sawhorses using 3/4" shop birch plywood I had left over from a previous project and that's why I used the pocket hole method instead of cutting out the shape of the sawhorse from a large piece of plywood. The yellow straps were originally some old cargo load straps.
    These can be folded and hung up out of the way when more space is needed in the shop.
    The overall size of these plywood sawhorses ended up being 28" high and 28" wide.
    The upright pc's are 5 3/4"x 28"
    Cross pc's are 5 3/4" x 16 1/2"
    One side of the cross pc is taller by about an inch to allow it fit up into assembly table and lock them together.

    *Well made. light but strong enough for my purpose **MyBest.Tools** Used to set up an outside work bench to cut floor joists. Needed four to accommodate long material. Met my needs nicely.*

      My description doesn’t mention any weights for this build? I’m not sure what your asking!

    I am a volunteer on a Preserved Railroad in the UK it's called The North Yorkshire Moors Railway. I work with a group of men on Station Maintenance at Pickering Station and this simple design and build is just whats needed. Thank you for sharing the video.

    NICE !!!!! - Best non 2x4 & non-metallic hinge sawhorses I have seen.
    Any chance there is a design modification on a "locking" mechanism to keep the legs locked into place avoiding accidentally knocking them inwards (being developed)?
    Would love that addition added ..... Great Job !

      Yes, I already have a video showing how I make an attachment to lock the sawhorses, check out my video

    Why the raised bit on top of each saw horse?

    • @henryworkswoodandmetal
      @henryworkswoodandmetal  6 лет назад +2

      They were going to allow the sawhorses to lock up into the bottom of the assembly table I built, but I've decided to build a permanent base for the assembly table so I have since trimmed them off, thanks for watching!

    Nice saw horses! Where did u get that yellow seatbelt strap banding type of material from? What's it called or name so we could find it? Where can you purchase it?

    • @henryworkswoodandmetal
      @henryworkswoodandmetal  7 лет назад

      I cut the short pieces from a 2 1/2" wide x 16' long cargo strap I had on hand, you can find those at harbor freight, they cost about $10.00 depending on the width and length, good luck with your project and let me know if you have any other questions, thanks!

      HENRY ! Thanks Henry for letting me know on how to get my hands on those Harbor Freight Cargo Straps... Planning on making some sawhorses myself in the future and thought those cargo straps were a perfect idea during my ‘planning faze. Thanks for the reply! 👍

    Why did you select 5 3/4 as your width?

      Martin Aleman, it was because I was using up some scraps and for strength....

    Where did you acquire the strap material ? Does to be from a tow strap.

    • @henryworkswoodandmetal
      @henryworkswoodandmetal  7 лет назад

      It was a load strap for securing loads inside a semi trailer, a tow strap will work just fine. Let me know if you have any other questions, thanks for watching!

    Maybe this is a good design, but scarify a good piece of plywood is a big no-no for me, and the cost is too high compared with the use of couple pieces of 2x4. No use.

    • @henryworkswoodandmetal
      @henryworkswoodandmetal  5 лет назад +1

      Yes, I understand but these were made from leftover scrap pieces of plywood from other projects...... thanks!

      I snagged some 1-1/8 ply flooring at a local camper shell store. Wondering if the double-up boards would be necessary if I use the flooring boards. The pocket holes are very strong joints. Your thoughts? Thanks.

    • @henryworkswoodandmetal
      @henryworkswoodandmetal  7 лет назад

      I think it will work just fine, I added the extra piece just to be sure but I also tend to over build things. You could always add them later if the pocket hole joints don't hold up. Thanks so much for watching and good luck with the project!

      HENRY ! This perhaps the most efficient and easy to build saw horse project I have yet to view on RUclips! May I please ask for the general measurements?

    • @henryworkswoodandmetal
      @henryworkswoodandmetal  7 лет назад +1

      Sure, the final size of each one is 28" h x 28" w
      The upright pc's are 5 3/4"x 28"
      Cross pc's are 5 3/4" x 16 1/2"
      One side of the cross pc is taller by about an inch to allow it fit up into the assembly table that will go on top of these sawhorses. That video will be up soon.
      Let me know if this helps, thanks!
