the short shift into 5th in the last corner at lower rpm, allowing him to get on the power earlier for the straight into 6th & 7th on cold tyres as the race went on he revved harder in 5th allowing to get into 6th , 7th earlier getting him faster top speed on the straight. its very interesting to see how these drivers had to drive. genuis.
This Ferrari was absolutely mental. It was unreliable as hell, but when it did finish, it never finished lower than 3rd. There was incredible potential in this machine, and it nearly paid off in 1990. I have absolutely no idea how the rest of the V12 campaign became an absolute disaster for Ferrari. Not a single race victory for almost 4 years... The engine layout can't be the only reason, Senna and McLaren became champions in '91 with a V12 Honda.
I started watching F1 in 89. Shame I didn't appreciate The sound of these cars back then, & the racing. As much as I've got review of the year DVD'S. But just listening to the sound of these cars, is pure porn.
From memory, late 90’s only 2 teams, 4 cars, had onboard camera, and it rotated per gp. There is full japan 89 GP onboard with Prost and Senna on the net
@@stinkyroadhog1347 yes, F1 get them removed and they might pop up in different channel. Here I find this link of only Senna onboard video of Japan 89. The one i saw previously was a mix between Prost and Senna ruclips.net/video/yJaunBHthyo/видео.htmlsi=R-2aKZziGoPOe7A0
Pure ear porn. Typical german F1 driver, efficient and smooth. How these guys threw these monsters around so accurately lap after lap is mesmerising. The golden era of the pinnacle of motorsport
@@hookooekoo2 It does matter because maybe we want to find more or possibly a better quality from the source. My guess is this may be from one of the Japanese LaserDiscs.

My favorite Formula 1 car ever to be honest!
this is great footage to have, thank you for posting, I am always torn between the Ferrari V12 and the Honda
People saying "This is the REAL F1" are absolutely correct

He was austrian, sir.
Box at 50:31
No speed limit!
automatic gearbox? in 89?
indeed sir. first f1 car to have one
edit: it's semi-automatic
Everything else is waiting around
For some reason i love this one, watch it now and then. You can try any wheel combos you want in your mind watching Gerhard here ..
No info?
Nothing in the description?
Source of video?
Estoril, 1989
Source of video? The camera stuck to the side of Gerhard's car. Does it really matter?
