- @WorldofTanksModernArmor (WoT Console) has some upcoming changes to its Cold War economy. To date, the economy of Cold War has been huge compared to WW2. On January 30th 2024, the Cold War economy will be reeled in so that it is similar to the economy of WW2. Silver earnings per battle will be reduced, as will the silver and XP requirements of tech tree lines. Cold War will however, remain as the dominant game mode for silver earnings, but not by a huge margin.

I think it will be a good change. As riki has said, era 3 isn’t in such a good spot right now. He likes both era 1/2, so I think faster and cheaper progression might bring people with era 1/2 play styles to era 3. This could stall the “full send trend.”
I welcome the change sure you don't earn as much silver but it won't be so damn grindy I just wish they stopped releasing overpowered premium tanks.
I dont play very much console wot and when i do is for the cold war side but even after 1 week im no where near close to get 1 mid era 1 tank so its a huge turn off for me im glad for the upcoming changes

This big update is not the end of this game in my opinion I'll still prefer playing CW. I'm more concerned with Era 3s decline the fact they started reselling the Weasel so soon is worrisome for the future. I'm all for this update but man do I miss Era 3. WG should should admit to their mistakes and just buff free to earn tank lines or nerf premiums to bring back balance to Era 3. They Nerfed the Armadillo and added a obvious weak point on the FV4211 props now admit defeat and balance the Obj 477 and Weasel.
I also own all CW tanks but after have giving it a thought i think it will benefit the game longterm .
Better fix era 3 now.

As a person who isn’t top era 3 yet (M1A1 and Chieftain Mk.11). This update will help out a ton!

Not much it won't. It helps era 1 like 50% era 2 like 40% and era 3 xp reduced by 30 or 20% xp. It's the lower eras that have large changes to xp

These changes make sense and are necessary.
Let’s not forget that included within the press release was the commitment to roll out lots more CW tanks which will add new interest, (hopefully) better balance and more grind👍
Change is one of the biggest stressors for us as humans. What is essentially a video game, has at times, caused people to send spiteful unsolicited messages to complete strangers. Plus whatever else when things don't go their way. It's a game, it'll always be a game, its my favorite coz it's tanks and I love tanks. The player base takes it all way to personal and way to serious. It should be challenge.

So a player buys several “ silver premium earring tanks “in an economy that reflects high potential. They keep selling these tanks and at high prices (real money) KNOWING that they are going to change this inflated silver rate yet they keep selling this lie . So real money is being spent on false advertisement and that’s my problem.
CW has an 'identity crisis '. Era 1 for example is trying to be both Tier 3 (entry level) and Tier 11 at the same time. New players have low silver for Era 1 TT tanks but heaps for Tier 3 if they play a few games in Cold War. You can go from 200 pen to 50 pen in 1 match. And so on. So does anyone know what was the theory underlying the data for the current system? Why was it made this way and if it is/was working as intended why change now, after 3 years?" The next change indicates the current system isn't working, but why isn't it? Has it not been ' working' for what 3 years?
While selfishly, I will miss the enhanced earnings, but i think its ultimately a good thing, and the front loading of the modules, is going to make grinding new lines more enjoyable. Personally, I would be willing to drop 10 bucks to unlock a tanks module and grind the remaining 2/3's. Rinse and repeat.
No matter what WG does, there are always people who complain about it even though the changes are good for the game. I personally think this is a needed change to CW and it makes the grind a lot easier.
People complain about newbs getting tier Xs. They'll have Era 3s even easier. That's not helping gameplay.

Honestly, Wargaming didn't think this out very well when bringing in this new mode (CW) using the same monetary system as WWII. Wargaming has said that players are farming silver in CW to use in WWII, and I find that to be true as I do it myself, and any player SHOULD be doing it, as the silver in WWII is not good.
CW has not taken off like they expected, and that is probably based on the exorbitant costs and layout of upgrades. The game mode "should" have been an extension of WWII, not a stand alone game which has had the effects of splitting the player base and allowing new players with no clue into high match games, which make play terrible. (My opinion, they should not sell or give away anything over a Tier VIII).
Giving away CW tanks or selling them should STOP, especially the broken vehicles like the 477 and Wiesel. These tanks have destroyed Era III. NO ONE should be able to get a CW vehicle until they grind out and unlock a Tier X line so at least they may just have a clue on how to play.
Let me put it this way. The CW silver and xp balance is a good thing. It should have been there from the start. Balancing Era 3 is a priority. Weakpoints on the Obj 477 front and nerfing the wiesel. Alpha changes on the AVRE would be game improving and balance things out. The issue with the high silver earn on CW had a negative impact on WW2. Making so much silver(I got 300 million for example) gives the players the option to go on WW2 with full premium shells loadout. Especially with the premium shells that pen anywhere on a tank. Making the whole armor of a tank obsolete. Doesn't matter if you sidescrape or hull down anymore, the shell will pen you. Hopefully there will be rebalancing in the future on premium shells as well. I had proposed to make them 10 gold a shell again. Because when you fire them. It hurts your own wallet and make people actively think if they want to use a shell on a particular target. Unfortunatly my answer that I got is that it would make the game "Pay to Win" again. Wich it still could be if you look at these new premium tanks. (Looking at you: AVRE, 477 and wiesel😉) Anyway I hope WG will soon be actively searching for solutions because if they keep this trend up they will slowly lose their community. Haha 10 gold per shell. Everyone will get a type 5 and drain everyone else's wallets pal. Not a smart move. Neither is reduced damage on prem as that just mega buffs heavily armoured tanks
I’m playing my 477 more bcuz I wanna maximize my silver earrings before they reduce it. An then I’ll go back to barely playing it bcuz I know how broken the tank is, an it’s makes the game a bit boring knowing the game is on easy mode,an I don’t like to ruin the game for others. But hey WG I need to grind silver while it’s at its peak state lol

My biggest issue with era 3 is the wiesel wagon is out of control, very disheartening getting trolled by a bunch of them and not being able to do anything about it
Ww2 player here.I played Cold War just for silver gaines, so for me there is no point in playing anymore CW.I already sold my cold war tanks 😀.
So you earn things quicker because the XP requirement is less but you're unable to buy them because you don't have the silver?
Good video I'm a average player so the amount of silver was great but they lowered the silver earnings in ww2 mounts ago and it was mentioned in a live stream 6 mounts ago ? He was supposed to check in to it never heard anymore about it always something almost 10 years playing this game
I’m a co-op player…the changes allowed me to get 4 era 1 tanks I’ve been wanting for awhile…..
I do like the changes but I wonder if they will edit the contracts XP requirements for example the Tier 9 Mercenary Med Tank Sharpshooter along with other challenges also requires 1,357,200XP and I know for me I am grinding it on my CW tanks because you get more XP. I do know you get a good amount of time to complete them just now feels they will be a lot harder and taxing if you miss a couple of days here and there.
My opinion is that cw didn't need to be changed. It seems that they are comparing the silver rates with ww2. Why not just increase silver in ww2. Seems stupid. I changed to cw because of the lack of silver in ww2 going negative silver in a winning game. Ridiculous in my opinion moving more noobs to cw and breaking cw in my opinion.
I don't think it's about longevity wargaming wants more people to spend gold on silver or money in general its obvious with the sales and newer options in the store aka newer war chests witch are a total ripoff. Chances are needed but not how they are going about it. Wargaming is just killing the game not helping it between the new op tanks at ridiculous prices and trying to get people to purchase equipment for gold and sneaking it in the after battle rewards. Crooked people at wargaming I'm personally about done if it continues like this. The game could shutdown anytime realistically
Riki , look at the player base now , that has decreased non stop for a while , due to the toxicity of wiesel and Avre. At tops on a friday night , its like 9k players on NA or Eu server. Let the update go, let it pass a week or two , and watch the player base again , you will see , then we will discuss that again. Majority of old players are playing in CW to refund the loss pf silver in WW2. When you hit like -30k silver on a win with 5/6k dmg at tier 10, game is not viable. You will see bro . Massive player loss with this. We all grinded tanks this way in CW , why new players can’t ? Wg give away high premium tanks in campaign anyway . So new players can grind silver … it is only a new robbery from WG. I am an almost 9 years players , i have 25 tier 10 and almost all era 3 tanks , have 2230wn8, and no this change won’t help the game long term. Cheers !
I've come to terms with the reduction in silver earnings and an immediate benefit for me, and others, is that I will grind the short British Era 1 line leading to the FV4005. Looking forward to joining other FV4005 owners.
I have a comment on your statement that you won't be compensated for the free XP you used to get the Challi 2. IIRC you were gifted a shed load of XP so that you could open all the French line CW. Perhaps I'm wrong but that is my recollection.

I agree with the changes to Cold War but once again disappointed that they don’t care about the present players. Will soon be playing this game for 10 years and don’t want to think about the money I’ve spent over the years. Loyal players who have spent or not spent a lot of money are just shrugged off, just a small gesture would be appreciated.

Too bad WW2 still sucks. The difference between stock bottom tier and fully upgraded top tier is way too high. I would only be interested in WW2 if permanent-1/+1 matchmaking is implemented.
I think the biggest issue is no much strategy things involved, no diversity, better tank just can wins, hard to coordinate with others as there are no efficient way to communicate and organize team members, so I think this is the biggest limitation of WOT, Its just play and shot game, no brainer, no strategy deepths.
Well Riki does this mean Cold War is history if so I’m really annoyed as I’ve spent £££ on this game like many others I only play CW not to keen on ww2 even though I’ve got many many ww2 tanks not bothered if there now taking the silver down but if there dumping CW what just kiss goodbye on all the money spent ?????
What Wargaming calls "World War 2" has nothing to do with WW2. Most people there are playing tanks which where made after WW2. They also play "cold war", but don't realize it. WW2 in my opinion ends at Tier VII. It's only a different game mode, with the wrong name.

Weasels going around any I've not played era 3 since because of the resale of the weasel I just found it unplayable 6 of them on Both teams Era 3 is just no fun anymore. Most of the OG Xbox players I started playing with don't play Anymore.

Riki. Thanks for the update. You have been a true ambassador for the game, and I have been playing it for years. Watched you for 2 on this channel. I've taken breaks in the past, but I truly feel like I'm done this time. It feels like this game has long since turned into a joke. They should be giving you more credit for what you do. Thanks, bro. For now, war thunder has been way more fun to me.
Some good points made, like yourself I own almost every CW tank and still have about 400 million silver, just wish there was another line to grind and spend it on
When you've bought every tank yes you will just accumulate silver. Not many of us are there yet. I have to sell to buy the next one in the line. Also TBH some of the tanks I would never play again as they were so bad, glad to move on.
Anyone who has played this for any length of time knows not only will this fix nothing, it will mean even less players in a dying game.

I farm my silver in coop, its much less stressful, yeah you get less than if you do well in a regular match but at least i dont have to really strategize, i can turn my brain off and just shoot tanks and have fun
