- In this Skate & Destroyed Mini Episode, I present two previously filmed locations. An abandoned White Castle restaurant in Akron Ohio and the location of a recently demolished Super Kmart in New Philadelphia Ohio.

i love checking out abandoned building's, back when i lived in Port Aurther. In the early 1990s, that was a gold mine of every type of abandoned houses and buildings you could think of. So many of them you could not count all of them, i like looking at all the junk that's left behind, i like knowing the history of these places. It's hard to put into words, and describe what it is about abandoned houses and buildings that makes them so fascinating to me. But to this day im still fascinated by this, when i see one i want stop and look inside of it.
Dr. Leonard hofstadter LOL I feel the exact same way, I say that every single time I'm out exploring but most of the time I cut it out of the video just so I'm not repeating the same thing over and over LOL
I was just watching another one of your videos about the Mallett Mall video, you talked about why people tear up, the mall. Break out the windows. you taken the words right out of my mouth, you talked about places like that. That have memories, it's so true. That is the number one thing i think of when i go into these places, example like "man so many people have walked on this floor" "so many people have sat in this food court and ate" i think about that. And you now, it's a damn shame how other people break out the windows, destroy the whole mall, or house or building. i wish that is was not that way, i want see how it looked with all the original things in it. And all the old left behind junk, take pictures of it. Video tape the mall, see the old decaying walls and ceilings. It's also sad that nowdays, you can't really go into these old places any more. The police will run you off, god Port Aurther Texas was just amazing back in the early 90s. See back in them days you could go into them places, look around. See some amazing junk left behind. Your video are just amazing, i really like that you give a history behind the abandoned places. im always going to be fan of old places like that, i really enjoy watching your videos.

This block has an abandoned White Castle, Friendly's Restaurant, and Pizza Hut. Word has it they will all be demolished for an Enterprise rental station and another car dealer.
yeah I want to get back out there and film those other two :)
You'd better do it fast because I just got an update. All three buildings will be demolished so a popular and well-known used car dealer can build a new location there.

I'm a new comer to your vids. I'm totally in to the same as things. In my hometown we had abandoned former fast food places that got moved to newer updated places. Bit the original locations have so much memories and more style.
Some of your old vids are popping up in my feed tonight. I used to drive up to that WC all the time. I still have a tin I bought there during one of their promos. I was sad when I heard they closed all of them up there.

Same, This was one of my favorite Kmart's and I wished to come their before it became Menards.

The white Castle building is gone. There is construction mobile office unit there, like they are going to build soothing in its place.
Couldn't help but notice an abandoned Pizza Hut, next to that abandoned White Castle. Didn't look like anything was in the old Pizza Hut building.
yeah I don't know why I didn't get photos over there as well, it's been shut down for quite some time now
I've never been to a White Castle but if I come across one I'll try this place. Since I've seen the movie I've been wanting to try White Castle. I thought I had noticed a former Pizza Hut in background of this video..

Come down to Columbus, we have a lot of White Castles left here although we have lost 3 that I know of. A lot of restaurants are closing down here.
This Super Kmart was a replacement for a older, smaller Kmart which is now a Goodwill and a Fitness Center.

They do a long loses on the restaurants that's why it said thanks for 27 years there lease was over not that they where not making good money I'm sure they did
You don’t see abandoned White Castle restaurants very often. They’re very selective about where they build. It was there for 27 years so I’d guess the population in that area has declined. We have a couple locations in Louisville Kentucky where that happened. Great video 👍

That Super K closed in 2002 when kmart closed 284 stores nationwide
there is 2 kmarts in that shopping center, 1: is that demolished Super Kmart 2: A Kmart That Was Turned Into A Goodwill. My Guess is that the goodwill kmart closed when the Super Kmart Center Was Built

You could always visit the last Super Kmart in Warren Ohio but what I heard they're going to close that last Super Kmart in April 2018. You should visit that location before April 2018 arrives.

It looks a lot like the K-Mart they are in the process of closing in Concord NC. The store they have in Rock Hill SC is totally trash and it stays open while the nicer store closes.

I live in rochelle Illinois a big town next to us is DeKalb il they closed a white Castle and now there replaceing it with a new chillys

I'm thinking that the old loading bays at the Kmart were filled in with crushed bits of the old building
White Castle started in Wichita, KS and guess what. There is not one white castle left in Kansas. They tried to make a comeback in Johnson County Kansas and failed. the only time I can get my White Castle fix is when I go visit the folks in Louisville, KY.The frozen ones at the grocery store don't count.
Ohio citys are great. All my life, ive lived in Alliance, with frequent visits to the Akron/Canton area for shopping visits or family visits. Always got school clothes from Kmart, White Castle for lunch some times. They closed Friendlys too, and it sucks, because it just shows how bad people are at taking care of their buisinesses

Did you ever filmed inside the K Mart before it closed, another person did yet they did not do filming the abandoned grocery side [due to the K Mart downsizing it to a regular K Mart], I would love to see it on video.

It's still really weird to me that I read(per facebook post reports) that White Castle pulled out, of all of northeast Ohio. Yet they're still all over Columbus, Dayton, Cinncinnati, and Indianapolis to name examples! And when I checked Indiana and Michigan when I did a google maps search, WC seem to be all over those 2 states still!
It's also too bad about Kmarts seemingly closing all over. Sadly(as you may know, not sure) both them and Sears have been run by a hedge fund guy(Eddie Lambert), who cares more about selling off assets of that company over running the company as a traditional retailer. The way I've been seeing them close stores all over, I sadly see that company will be no more in a few years. :( Sigh, the company even got rid of selling video games at ALL Sears and Kmarts like 2 or 3 years ago, IIRC. I only discovered your youtube channel today, but I'm loving your videos. Take care!

That White Castle along with the Pizza Hut and Friendly's will be demolished in August 2017 so a well-known local used car dealer can build a new location.

When they tear down buildings like this, do they just leave the floor intact or do they actually rip up the tiles?
I've seen it both ways actually, not sure why or why not they do it, but yeah this one has the tiles still in some places, and I saw a mcdonalds today with the entire place ripped to shreds, n trace of the building at all, except the sign out front

"Gut" was a typographical error, yes I meant "Hut." And I was asking Nate about if he went to the Pizza Hut.
The problem with K-Mart was everytime I went in one they didn't have what I was looking for. When I go to a Wal-Mart, 99% of the time, they have what I'm looking for. And that is what is killing K-Mart.

Aaron Johns this one closed on Christmas eve 2014. Man do I miss it too! I always had to have a red pop, even though I'm allergic to the red dye and it would give me massive headaches LOL
Aaron Johns that's the Whitecastle I mean. The Kmart closed years ago like maybe 2009? Maybe even before that. I'm thinking it was built in the mid 90s end it really wasn't there very long. A Walmart was built catty corner to it on the same street. The front doors were literally about 200 yards apart. Oh I found it here, it closed in 2002

Interesting, I recently thought my local Kmart was about to close but it appears I was mistaken as they have just put up a brand new all red sign on the building.

Not sure what you're referring to, but if you mean a source that that used to be an abandoned Kmart, that's me standing in front of it in the jersey. I saw it with my own eyes, used to shop at it when it was open, and watched it close, go abandoned, sit there for years and crumble, get torn down, and a Menard's built in it's place.
