Ringo really loved him.
Ringo is the credited writer of "It Don't Come Easy" but George did lend a hand. All three of the other Beatles supported and aided Ringo's career, and he helped theirs. In many ways, Ringo was the glue of that group and he loved each of them like a brother, and showed up for each of them in key personal and professional moments. I grew up in Liverpool. I was 5 years old when The Beatles came on the scene, but I'd heard people talking about them and, even now, I remember that there was a strange vibration spreading around the city, some kind of sense of expectation. I'd just started listening to music, via my parents records. Dad had a load of classical stuff and mum had more up beat stuff. I loved all of it. Then there were pictures on the news and I recognised the places I was seeing on TV. Within just a few weeks EVERYBODY was talking about them, they were everywhere. The girls were arguing over who was the best looking, the "bring back Pete" movement was fading and the music was like nothing else. Fab days growing up in Liverpool then. Years later I attended The Liverpool Institute High school For Boys, which had been Paul and George's old school. After leaving school, I joined a band because I wanted to sing, we were rehearsing in The Casbah, in the same room The Beatles had used. Most of us in Liverpool wanted to be in a band, and that's still the case now. Being left-handed and playing guitar struck a chord with me (sorry about the pun!). Most families in Liverpool had an instrument in the house, a piano, guitar, banjo, or even just a pair of spoons or a comb and paper. That had been the case for years before The Beatles came on the scene, so music was the soundtrack for everybody back then, so The Beatles really were just four lads from down the road. George died on my birthday.
The Cavern and the Casbah were two different clubs in Liverpool the Beatles played at. The Casbah was owned by Mona Best, the mother of Pete the drummer.

I'm not a bit religious or spiritual and I'm kind of a bit dismissive of that sort of thing but I could listen to George talk about his spirituality for hours. I think we can all take comfort from the fact that George knew he was just moving on: not dying at all. 🥰

I can only imagine what it did to Paul, Ringo, and George's family!
As a big Beatles fan and living through Beatlemania George was my favorite at the end John in the beginning but one thing we all lost side of us. They were human. and one day they would pass. I’m not the way they went. one guy shot as you know, and the other head cancer I’m constantly sticking. A cigarette in his mouth the brake in George was stabbed. It don’t feel the same
As difficult as it is for everyone of us, we're not experiencing dead of our relatives in the same way. Paul is clearly a guy who has been devastated by it at a very young age and clearly built an armour against it. He's in control, he has to be for his own sake. I knew people like this, and they can seem very detached and unsensitive but it's the absolute opposite. Sorry for my bad english.
Yeh, that's exactly what I was thinking. I remember seeing an interview where he tried to explain his behaviour during that interview right after John's death.
Paul obviously was blindsided by John Lennon's death in a way he wasn't by George's. John was sudden, Paul was 15-20 years younger at the time, and in that interview he was clearly in an altered state of mind.
With this and John, people always seem to forget that Paul was still processing the murder of John, whereas here it’s more expected in a way. Must be terrible to have reporters all up in your face right after your friends had passed… God bless Ringo and Paul for both being so strong 🫶🏻
William was not friends with John. They only had a professional relationship. And William knew the time George died that he could not make a "It's a drag" 2.0 because then more people would wake up to the fact that he is not Paul McCartney.
If Paul McCartney ever said a cross word, I've never seen it or read about it. Always kind, patient and respectful. His appreciation for his fans is really evident in his shows and where he chooses to tour. I hope he's around another many years. Same goes for Ringo.
@@OlskZeri-tc5niThat was an in-joke between Paul and John. Whenever bad things happened, that’s what they would say to each other. Only as a sound bite with no context does this sound cold or crass.
A lot of people don't realize that George spent his final days at Paul McCartney's home in Beverly Hills. It was good of Paul to offer it. No fuss, no muss -- just whatever you need.
William did not share his house of his good heart. No, the main reason was that William wanted to prevent George from doing a death bed confession that Paul died late 1966.
Ringo's voice impression of George was almost perfect
Ringo crying always makes me cry. George and especially John were far too young
George said it himself best. Here comes the sun to get me. It's alright. RIP dear friend.
If I was the reporter I would say I love you buddy keep your head up during this time buddy. I won't further bother you now sir. Good day thanks for the music 🙏🏻
Poor Ringo. I've seen this before but I'd forgotten about the Barbara Walters comment. When John died, she interviewed Ringo and after he answered some questions he commented "do you want to stop now? (talking about) it doesn't help, but it always makes me upset." And she ignored him and kept pressing for more.
Oh my god Ricci is amazing as always. He's so sweet and real... I saw his reaction to John's death during the interview, now to George. And in both cases, he barely held back tears and spoke through force(((
Man this had tears in my eyes
Love how the people shoving cameras in Paul’s face just asked him questions about things that he literally had just answered
Rip George and John
I could imagine them with Stuart Stcliffe now.
@@jacestephenweatherall1732 Nah they kicked him out of their Heaven band
@@hihunter7 No they did not kick Stu out of the band. He left by his own wishes. He wanted to stay in Germany with the love of his life. Unfortunately he died of a believe a brain hemorrhage. They all were devastated when he died & kept in touch with his girlfriend for years after. She just passed away recently.
@@antoinettewitt2098 best thing that ever happened in the history of rock and roll is when Pete and Stu weren't members of The Beatles anymore.
RIP James Paul McCartney.
His music lives on forever...tears in my eyes.....sad to see this all these years later...."GOD BLESS AND KEEP YOU ALWAYS"
0:21 I could hear the Nokia ringtone when Paul walks away from his car
These vultures descended so quick, same day George died, that Paul is still referring to George in the present tense.
I love George. My favorite Beatle. 💖
Same.
Me too!
I'm not a bit religious or spiritual and I'm kind of a bit dismissive of that sort of thing but I could listen to George talk about his spirituality for hours. I think we can all take comfort from the fact that George knew he was just moving on: not dying at all. 🥰
You've just been religious to your core right there. Peace and love.😊
@@petes9524 I actually meant that George knew, as in he was certain in his beliefs, but I’m happy to be misconstrued in this case. Bless ya, Pete. ♥️
@@trinkabuszczuk6138 I should have said, spiritual.😊
@@petes9524 I think there’s a fine line.
I’ve actually just watched a programme about Cornwall in England and the various people there who believe in magic wood sprites and pagan magic. They were genuine people with sincere beliefs and there’s nothing wrong with that. 😊
@@trinkabuszczuk6138 well, like George, probably of Celtic stock, in the end, it all comes down to kindness and just caring about people
Ringo especially took it hard as George basically told John and Paul to let him in the band after discharging Pete Best.
Ringo's interview tears me up each time. I'm not a fan, I've only watched it a half a gazillion times.
Exellent. Thanks for posting.
Georges était le discret des 4...
Plus de 20 ans déjà...
Repose toi en paix...
Georges 🌠🙏
Brille🌟🌌
Là haut
How rude to impose on Paul and Ringo at that time.
“god, its like barbara f***ing walters here isn’t it?” 🥲🥲
ringo referencing the interview he did soon after john’s murder. 😞😞😞😞
George could fall in a skip of sewage and still come out looking cool. That man was mentholated cool.
I'm old enough to remember John's death (just about)... I was really, really young, but I can recall the time when it happened, and that everyone was in shock watching the news in our house... but I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing when I heard of George's death on the radio... that really hit me that, just couldn't believe it...
It don’t feel the same
So sad... i love George....
Paul is such a amazing man very kind words
William knew he could not afford to make a "It's a drag" 2.0 and that is why he behaved this time around.
That's not Paul. He died in 1966 and was replaced with William Shepherd
Lovely tributes from his best friends...
George Harrison and "Sir Paul" (William) were not best friends.
@@olskzeri782 They were as kids and teenagers and again towards the end of George’s life.
What a beautiful soul George had , they all loved each other so much😊
So sad but his music will live on forever.
The Beatles will live on forever, once they all unfortunately go their music will never die.
The Beatles will outlive all of us.
1:28 I love him like he's my brother too.
God bless him!
We love you Ringo
So sad, I love George ❤️❤️❤️❤️
As difficult as it is for everyone of us, we're not experiencing dead of our relatives in the same way. Paul is clearly a guy who has been devastated by it at a very young age and clearly built an armour against it. He's in control, he has to be for his own sake. I knew people like this, and they can seem very detached and unsensitive but it's the absolute opposite. Sorry for my bad english.
"Sir Paul" (Wiliam) is not the same Paul that lost his mother at a young age.
Paul is obviously going out of his way to say something well beyond what he said to the press after Lennon’s death.
Yeh, that's exactly what I was thinking. I remember seeing an interview where he tried to explain his behaviour during that interview right after John's death.
Talking to the press would always be 'a drag'
I imagine it was easier speaking about the memory of George vs John honestly, especially between the time they died
Paul obviously was blindsided by John Lennon's death in a way he wasn't by George's. John was sudden, Paul was 15-20 years younger at the time, and in that interview he was clearly in an altered state of mind.
@@davepowell7168 he said that because he was mad at the reporters for making a sensation out of his friend’s death. He didn’t mean it like that.
They are humans. We cry. They are no different.
We love you Georgie!!❤
The death of a Beatle is a tragedy.
A deal should have been made to keep all 4 alive forever.
I loved all four Beatles like they were my brothers!¡
They were five in total. John, Paul, George, Ringo and last member in: William.
Rest In Peace George
He was great
RIP
Thats the incredible side of George….Om, Peace Amen….
Sometimes it is a relief to talk about things and Paul used the opportunity
If Paul McCartney ever said a cross word, I've never seen it or read about it. Always kind, patient and respectful. His appreciation for his fans is really evident in his shows and where he chooses to tour. I hope he's around another many years. Same goes for Ringo.
William commented Lennons death with a cold "It's a drag".
@@OlskZeri-sc9eg 🤔 William?
@@OlskZeri-sc9eg William who?
@@skeena59William Shepard.
Paul's reaction much different than with John's death.
He had a chance to prepare what to say for George's passing.
@@wms72 William knew he had to behave himself. Had he done a "It's a drag" 2.0 would have waken up more people to the fact that he is not Paul McCartney.
Of course it is. John was murdered, and he was in shock. George passed away after a long illness. Very difficult, but expected.
Paul introduced George to John
George and ringo just are just like middle child.
But "Sir Paul" (William) had nothing to do with that. It was before William's time in the band.
we don't actually know how they reacted when they heard the news for the very first time.
The Ringo part made me tear up so much
I cannot believe Ringo Starr said a bad word
George was my favorite Beatle. I thought it was throat cancer that he died from. I could be wrong.
George was also my favorite. And I also thought it was throat cancer ... maybe it spread. The cause was clear, though: smoking.
He got attacked and stabbed a few years earlier in 1997 so that make his situation worse
It sucks that my favorite beatle is dead
Loved him.
I saw online that Ringo had to cancel his tour for this year because a couple of his band members got COVID-19.
He’s touring. Just saw him last night. He was as energetic as ever.
Rip 🙏
even though it was the press I can tell Paul felt good talking about George, at the end I could sense a weight had lifted off him; almost a relief to just talk about George
Only tears from Ringo his real original band member not Billy Shears who acts as Paul to this day.
Oh my god shut up take your ridiculous a** theory somewhere else
@@Riley98414that is not an argument in any shape or form. The dark truth is that JPM died late 1966 and he was replaced by William "as an already set up affair".
“Do you want me to come with you” brought a tear to my eyes, 24 years later
its kinda sad that soon we will either have Ringo's reaction to Paul's death or the other way around and then there will be only one
There is already only one Beatle left and that is Ringo Starr.
