I only found this channel a month ago and I've watched every video . This brings me back to my childhood when life was much more easier. Thanks mate for the videos . Keep them coming !
I forage for oysters here in Devon and we get some really big ones. My favorites are eating the small ones raw and the really big ones I fry in a Japanese style and they are so good. Thanks
Just came back from foraging oysters today myself...try cooking them in the oven opened with garlic and some grated cheese with some crushed black pepper. I guarantee u will enjoy them even more. Great video mate keep up the good work 👍
oi oi smash nice to see you and sam doing your bit for the environment taking those invasive oysters and turning them into free food .. and i am looking forward to you island hoping adventures ... stay cool dude take care and have fun
Just had a thought while watching you . If you had a drone slaved to you out ahead in water that clear and low, you might spot things that are bigger like Larry's and be able to attack them a different way. Also would make for some awesome scenery shots as well. Just a thought. Awesome as usual gents carry on!
If you find they Are, indeed edible; harvesting and eating them would certainly be doing your local environment a favour! It's why people are starting to get into eating urchins and lionfish in areas where they are invasive as well and why I always pick invasive plants when I am forest foraging like 'cow vetch' (Which I've actually found to also be delicious as a bonus, just be sure you don't mistake it for hairy vetch which is toxic) Hope you have a lovely day, I am glad to see another who is also interested in invasive eating/foraging ^^/
Well, living where these invasive oysters came from, I can tell you that they are delicious. 5 minutes from my house and they are everywhere. I like to pop them on a BBQ and dip them in garlic butter w/ spice. I prefer the medium/small ones. They grow really large here and the big ones simply have too much goo in them.
Epic video 🔥 nice to see something differant👍 herme looks like a beautiful island. At least you didn’t miss your ferry and left the pub in time! Nice catch n cook
Another great video, pity about that rain. Was really surprised that you got so few oysters, where I get mine there are literally hundreds. Pacific oysters are really invasive and a pest species.
I finally found a beach near me (southern shore, Nova Scotia) that has crabs and lobsters. Seen green shore crabs and rock crabs and what I think is dungeoness.
Try them on the Barbie !!! Get it up to about 350 , then put them on , when they open , done , and so tasty !!!! Deep fried are to die for ! Poor Boy Sammy's !!! Raw are the best !!!!!
Can't wait for September when our local fish van starts selling Oysters again I love them fresh with abit of tobasco sauce on them 😋 the missus hates me eating them if you know you know why 🤣🤣 great content again Jay and Sam 👍
I sadly live in a place that's far from the ocean but I still remember the time I went to the east coast of Canada (PEI) and tried a raw, freshly shucked oyster before. I STILL miss them, it's still one of my favorite foods to this day: Only lightly salty with a beautiful creaminess to them. (the oyster liquor was to DIE FOR) Please enjoy a few for me too when they come out, ahaha! Have a lovely day ^^/
There people that live there but there isn’t many at all , lots of people go to herm on day trips as it’s a lovely place and takes 20minutea by boat to get there
Never always able to catch up on these guys and their brilliant channel due to work commitments but wow it is worth the wait absolutely wonderful guys and a superb channel.
I know im a snob .. but i like the channel just don’t like the way you narrate the videos, like a reporter. I mean the high pitch at the end of a sentence..
@@SMASHFISHING i know... i really like your videos .. just there s a difference when you are narrating the video and simply talking... its just an observation
In most places I know of, it's illegal to catch mollusks and crustaceans by foraging the area at low tide, it's just too easy and unsportsmanlike. Also, using a hooked bar like the one in this video is illegal at all times when catching lobster in most places.

Wicked to see Herm like that. Those oysters 🦪 were full of meat. Be honest what was worse the rain or sleeping on a cliff in the cold😂👍🇨🇦

That's my favorite way of eating Oysters, I used to live in Southend on Sea and you can fill a bucket in 5 minutes of whoppas
Excellent haull for oysters mmmm tasty yah need to try that salt pepper I sent
We've got those invasive oysters around the shore past Kirkcudbright. Always been tempted to see what they are like. Might have to go for a forage...

Make sure your waters are safe before taking and eating , but if it is then happy days haha
