- Evolution Of Link's Deaths By Falling In Lava In The Legend of Zelda Series. Lava has been around since the original Legend of Zelda for the NES but you couldn't fall into it. The first game Link was able to fall in Lava was Adventure of Link and pretty much was in almost ever Legend of Zelda game ever since!

In Triforce Heroes, there are actually two types of lava: the red lava where you just bounce off and the yellow lava where you sink.

What's really interesting about Ocarina of time's is the music just stops and all you hear is Link's echoing scream giving it that extra creep factor

Twilight Princess is by far the most heart-wrenching one because not only does he slowly sink into the lava, the pain in his screams and the slight movement of his arm trying to reach out. You can also hear the sizzle and boiling of his clothes and skin. Not a great way to go at all. Out of all kinds of deaths within the Zelda series I believe being cooked alive in an instant with no time to react is truly terrifying. TP's more realistic graphical approach brings it closer to home for us in the actual world.
I like how some of these are made to look accidental and others are just "Let's just jump into it"
I always laugh when I see Wind Waker and Skyward Sword. Both are too ridiculous funny.

Apparently Wind Waker didn't sell too well in the west, so the developers went for a Zelda game with a more mature look and serious tone so that it would sell better as that was what players wanted. I guess that's why the death was very realistic. The whole game felt realistic.

Don't forget that, while Skyward Sword's lava death is cartoony, his scream of agony while dying in quicksand is cursed

In twilight princess from the moment Midna is decided to help link and not using him, from that point, imagine if at the moment when link falls in lava (in wolf form) instead of looking at him she stays with link in the lava. That would be so heart breaking.
