Richard, these are great reviews you are doing on this new technology for flashlights, they are certainly helping me to make up my mind but as you know any of these flashlights are just as good as the power supplying it, do you have recommendations/reviews on batteries trying to stay around the $10/ea mark...?
Also... I have not seen a comparaison between a ... say... 3000lm not focusable against a focusable one at say... 300 m (1000 ft) So far I am inclined (thanks to your illustrative reviews) to purchase the "Securitylng 5400 Lumens 4 x CREE XM-L T6" but I am really wondering if there are cheaper (or not) focusable flashlights that in the narrowest beam setting illuminate a square area of about 4'X4' even better than the Securitylng above.
I hope I didn't make this question too confusing. Thanks

These lights can be best described as floods. If you need a focused beam you will require a light with a adjustable lens or a lens designed to throw light as a spot beam. Unfortunately the only focusable lights I have are single cell 18650 lights. They are pretty good but I don't think they will throw 300m and be useful at that distance. The problem is that no one is actually telling the truth on any of these lights. For example the 4000 lumen light that my link goes to is the same light that Securitying is saying is 5400 lumen. That's why I do these thorough tests so people will actually have a real world idea of what these lights actually are capable of. The lumen "stats" are mostly BS I go by what I see. I have said it before I don't have a lumen meter other than my eye. LOL. I will keep an eye out for a focused beam.
