    Good video - I think with that type of transom a wood one done correctly and covered up will last decades. Aluminum is heavy even that piece has to be heavier than the wood and a lot more expensive for most people but you are right it should never have an issue. I have seen someone use the aluminum out of the floor of a semi- trailer

    Looks good I wish I would of came across this before I did my wood transom rebuild that I am currently working on now that I am almost 500.00 in the hole now. This looks more solid and a cheaper upgrade than wood.

    You don’t get aluminum galling when you cut it with a wood blade? Every time I’ve ever cut aluminum, I’ve used a courser metal blade in a saber saw, and taped over where I wanted to cut to avoid the blade getting plugged up with aluminum.

    • @JDSOutdoors
      @JDSOutdoors  5 лет назад

      Nope it works well. It can ruin blades quick if you go to fast though

      @@snowboy720 that one had a drop in the middle to make it a 15" transom. I cut the shape of the drop, welded in the tubes like that and a top cap

      There are 6 uniform holes on each side of the motor plate. Are those bolts I’m seeing or is it weld? If it’s weld did you fill it and weld it to the aluminum tubing you put in or before you put it in?

    He says he loves it when people half ass it with JB Weld, but he admits he spent 3K in welders in the comments. Not all of us have the space, the right setting, and money for all that welding equipment. We might have to JB weld a few things because a 10 Oz tube of JB Weld is 14 dollars while a welder and a extra garage are out of reach financially.
