- So in the early 2000s, shortly after the world exploded from Y2K, there was an emerging genre that had somehow managed to completely dominate the western world. That genre was Nu-Metal.

THIS IS WHY THE NEW ALBUM FROM PARAMORE
It’s been a genre that has divided Metal fans globally. As on one end of the spectrum you had bands such as System of a down that were a politically driven group and spoke of war, genocide and other controversial topics and then you had limp bizkit who just did it all for nookie and really didn’t take themselves too seriously.
I think it’s safe to say that Nu-Metal was in full swing by the time albums such as Chocolate Starfish, Follow The Leader and Toxicity had been unleashed on the Youth of America. However, Nu-Metal was seriously short-lived. It kind of died out by 2004/2005. And we started to see a dramatic shift in the overall sentiment of alternative music.
Nu-Metal was often aggressive, dark and could come across as very disturbing to the everyday joe. But then came along a lighter version of alternative rock, that was still appealing to the discontented teens of the day, but had a much poppier edge to it.
In 2002 a band called Taking Back Sunday released their debut record “Tell All Your Friends”. This record is considered by many to be the first “big” record that represented a new genre that would be known as Emo. Whilst you can argue that Jimmy Eat World's 2001 record Bleed American may have started the trend, Singer Jim Adkins didn’t quite have the same allure as Adam Lazzara who showed somewhat of a more sensitive side on stage.
We could also discuss the real Emo catalyst record, Full- Collapse by Thursday but that’s another story altogether.
A variety of “Emo” artists then started to rise up through the ranks such as Fall Out Boy, Panic At The Disco and Paramore, amongst many others of course. And I guess we can’t leave out My Chemical Romance.
Paramore's second record RIOT was HUGE and peaked at number fifteen on the billboard 200 chart in 2007. Singles taken from the record, Misery Business, Crush and That’s What You Get were big hits and you couldn’t go to an alternative nightclub and not hear them.
The rise of these bands caused an enormous rift between metal fans and alternative metal fans which is no surprise as Paramore were essentially a pop-rock band, as were many of the other Emo artists. However some of the emo fans would still say that some of the emo music was metal, but that’s not the main point here.
The point here is that despite how much you might have hated these bands, they wrote some really, really good music. Super catchy, upbeat and very memorable. Which brings me to the main point of this episode.
This Is Why, is the new album from Paramore and to my surprise, I think it’s actually quite incredible. So I have to say kudos to them for their writing abilities. It has elements of Rock, funk and dare I say it, even a bit of disco in parts. Very reminiscent of Incubus in many ways, and hints of Red Hot Chilli Peppers. I had no intention of paying any attention to this album however I saw the title single from the album pop up on my RUclips homepage and gave it a spin. I then played it on repeat for about two days solid.
And the singer, Hayley Williams quite frankly has an incredible voice. So I am thoroughly recommending you to check out this record. It really shouldn’t matter what style of music you’re into, a good album is simply a good album and this is one.
Now if you’re a regular viewer to the channel, you’re used to watching my documentaries. Don’t worry they will continue as normal. This is my new show called The Verdict, an opportunity for me to share my opinion on music and I hope you’ll all enjoy it.
Thanks for watching and see you next time. - Видеоклипы
I am an old school metalhead myself. But I am also a DJ/Karaoke host one the side, so my taste in music is very wide and vast. I wish more metalhead would be open like this and allow themselves a bigger variety of stuff. Metal is top of the line for me, but it isn't all that I like, and I catch hell for that from some other metalheads.
Love or hate Nu-Metal, you can't deny the impact it had. I grew up in that generation and it for sure had a movement!
Totally agree. I remember going my local shop and a group of young neighbours kids were listening to Chop Suey. I was in my late 30's a massive music fan. Truly an exciting time. My taste has mellowed a bit over the years but I still love the old hits
I remember being little and seeing kids all over town looking like they listened to nu metal, and it was pretty cool. My brother wasn’t into it, but he was in the skater crowd. Had the long hair and had just discovered Metallica and nirvana and other great bands. KoRn, Staind, Slipknot, Linkin Park are pretty awesome and great bands. And it makes me happy to see Nu Metal making a comeback.
The new Paramore album is my favorite Paramore album so far.
I love your content! keep it up my dude.
Appreciate it!! More to come for sure!
Everyone is commenting on the Paramore album and the view on nu-metal but I want to answert your statement from the end of the video. Yes I like this new format. Especially with the build up and the view back to music from the 2000s. Nice work!
I feel like most people had no idea this video was about Paramore haha
Nu Metal evolved guitar n bass’s with dropped tunings,26-28” baritone scales, fanned fretboards,8-9 strings, new pickups, amp’s,cab’s, everything needed to evolve or it sounds like mud. It’s why today bands use alternate tuning in Heavy Music, so that’s no small thing
I’m not a paramore fan but their last album had a single called hard times that I freaking love so much
Great stuff dude! More of these!
Great review 👏🏼 👏🏼 👏🏼 👏🏼
I've heard a few of the new songs. "This Is Why" gets stuck in my head every few days lol.
Their evolution from super young pop punk band to their more "mature" current incarnation makes sense and I think they've found a new audience.
Don't know if I like it though. Felt the same with their previous album.. "After Laughter" (?). But maybe nostalgia makes me biased on the matter.
I can't stop singing "This Is Why" it's seriously catchy. And the need to flail my arms around is quite uncontrollable at this stage. It's a totally different band to what they were. The name offers nostalgia, the music offers something entirely new.
Taking back are still one of my favorite bands from that era. High school and college wouldn't have been the same without these bands. And im more into death metal than anything 😂
Nice to see a face to a channel, keep these up
great content mate
I think I'll check this album out now. I never got into Paramore but the songs I've heard from them I thought were not too bad.
Do you like Paramore or the new record?
honestly. I can't stand it. it isn't Paramore anymore (nor has it been for years), it's Haley Williams and a band. just doesn't have any edge at all. it just seems like every overly commercialized band with a female lead that's been out in like the past decade. squeeze any semblance of punk out of it, focus exclusively on the chick, and overly synthesize everything. look at turnstile, or bilmuri, or fuck even the world is a beautiful place and i'm no longer afraid to die. that's the emo/post hardcore scene imho.
turnstile are amazing! First heard them in 2019 I think. But yeah, Hayley is the only original member left, I think and if I remember correctly the record deals were always about her and not really the band. She probably should have continued without the Paramore name, maybe.
@@RAWMUSICTV I think they got Zac back, but his brother is still out. I know bands grow up and mature but I loved Paramore as a teen so I guess it hits a little to close to home to see them turn into pop.
Slayer is my fav band but I also like ABBA and some Backstreet Boys. A good song is a good song. I really liked the second to last song on the album, Crave I think it was called. Pretty solid front to back. Didn’t overstay it’s welcome. I enjoyed it. Thanks for turning it on to me. One love!
I agree with every single word you say about this album. It's an amazing album
Greetings from Manchester 👋 Good stuff. Not heard Paramores new album yet. 🌼
Love Manchester! Played a few gigs there, great people!
Now I ain’t heard one record from Paramore “cue the booing”. After leavin the Austin metal/alternative scene 99. I keep up with bands I knew, but hear others at the Studio. I work in Texas Blues music in Texas “shockin ain’t it”, but bands like “Sons of Texas” are a killer groove metal Texas band, Texas Hippie Coalition another, I love bands musicians listen to n know about, you know they’re good if it’s good enough for a good musician
Nice Crashdiet Shirt! Great band, you should do a video about them sometime
I go drinking with them sometimes so would be a bit weird doing a video on them haha
@@RAWMUSICTV That's crazy, I live in Austria, been listening to them since i was 16. They're gods in my world
Nice! I discovered them in 2008 and I moved to Stockholm a few years ago so I've met some of them a bunch of times and had drinks with them, super cool dudes!
I like the older Paramore albums the best but cheers
I love nu-metal, so much Great music
Just curious what would you consider the REAL Static X to be? Rest in Paradise Wayne and Tera.
I'm assuming you're referring to when Wayne was alive vs the band now? Static X with Wayne will always be the "Real" Static X for me personally. I first heard them in 1999 with "Push it" when I was still in high-school so there's no other Static X for me.
I was about the correct age for Limp Bizkit but I could never stand that band, except for Break Stuff. For some reason I liked that one. The rest of the "Nu-metal" crowd I loved though. System, Slipknot, I could do without Coal Chamber, I absolutely wore out Mudvayne's LD50, by far the best one they made although their dive into radio friendly stuff I liked too, I even loved HeD PE's first two albums. I mean I don't see how Broke didn't catch on but Chocolate Starfish did. I never even put Deftones in the metal category, let alone Nu-metal but loved them too. I'll also stand by the first few Godsmack albums being good even though the first time I heard Whatever with a band named after an Alice in Chains song with a singer who almost sounded like he was trying to parody Layne Staley. Oh and Disturbed sucks, at least during their Nu-Metal phase. When they got away from the monkey noise gimmicks they turned into a great, straight ahead starter metal band. Believe was fantastic.
Oh damn I forgot Korn. First two albums absolutely great. 3rd and 4th were ok but not nearly as good. Anything after that? Ah, not really. Just like I think the first System was by far the best and by the time they got to the last two their sound was way too slick and polished that they'd lost what I loved to begin with, Korn just lost that edge with the later stuff. I mean a lot of that comes from being younger, hungry and frankly poor. Poverty can recall piss you off and I think it came out in those records. It's much more difficult to be that angry when you've got a big house, some fancy cars and you routinely step in front of hundreds and thousands of people who adore you.
You look like Ozzy
I feel like him haha
@@RAWMUSICTV for real, you look like a much healthier version though 😅
I'm probably not hahaha
Reviews,hell yeah!
I don't seem to like this kind of music,it's too upbeat for my everdark, edgy self (I'm not like that in person,It's just my music taste).
It's not helped by the fact that I'm in the "music snob" phase(those times when you think that because you listen to Metallica and Iron Maiden you are a musical noble among plebs),of which effects I try to minimize.
But I respect your opinion, especially since you like Anthrax and that you have heard more than me.
Since you did this, how about a "The Sick,The Dying And The Dead" review?
Or a 72 Seasons one when if comes out?
Now,does anyone have Melodic/(unraw) Black Metal?
I like that now.
Anthrax are one of my all time favourite bands! I've seen them live and LOVE THEM! I'll be doing some content around the new Metallica record for sure!
I think it's totally fine to have a "music snob" phase, I've had loads of them and I always end up going back to Thrash as the "best" music. In a way it's good because it means in a few years you'll have 100s of albums to check out that you ignored previously!
@@RAWMUSICTV
Probably,they sure seem great live.
I haven't listened to them much,but I like what I have.
My only complaint is that the YT videos are way too silent.
I know it is,but being aware of it helps making less of an asshole of myself in certain situations.
Thrash is the one best genre of them all.
A never-skip album for me is "The Sound Of Perseverance" or anything by Dissection.
I've been poking around some hidden bands lately,"Mirror Never Lies" by Thunderstone is a hidden gem if you like power Metal.
As of now I almost have 500 songs(I listened to more, saved what stuck the best).
And I think those come from more than 100 different albums.
Listen to Meathook Seed.
an Earache Records artist! I'm interested and will check them out
I love the new album!
I liked a few of their older songs but never listened to them much but I'm really impressed with the new record!
