Jekyll & Hyde is defiantly a story that’s been told throughout the years. Despite his showing in FGO as practically the worst servant bar none , it was good getting the historical side of this story again. Keep up the good work and waiting for the next review / history facts !
The history sections of these servant guides remind me of part of why I subscribed in the first place. Fino your voice is just straight fire lol. Your narrations are so nice to listen to and the script is always well put together.
Dude you have a talent for story telling. Your reviews were always entertaining but your brief rendition of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde was something else! Last line gave me goosebumps.
I am surprised that they don't release 5 Star Servant that can Class Change, they did something similar with Angra where we got Bazett, who can counter attack.
I swear this is the reason they refuse to give a class change servant again when, with what they know now, they could pull it off very well especially after doing np card changes, np target changes and giving some servants special damage or defense against other classes like faker, kama and hmx for instance
What really irks me about early FGO design shenanigans was how hard characters like them and Romulus got shafted, despite having some of the biggest cultural and historical impacts in the entire roster. The story of Jekyll and Hyde is one of the most famous and influential in the entire world, to the point that Superpowered Evil Side is a staple trope in Japanese media; we probably wouldn't even have superheroes as we know them, if not for how this story pioneered the exploration of alter egos and identities. Meanwhile, Romulus is the founder of the city that practically dictated the course of western civilization, by extension shaping the politics of nigh every country. Unit introductions are a little better nowadays. Mostly because there are so few low rarities being released at all as it doesn't seem like they've developed a better idea of kit design. Melusine's release gave me hope for him, but it's been half a year since her NA release and he still has nada.
I think I remember Stevenson being inspired by Edinburgh for the story; amazed at its grand architecture and appalled by its slums. Feels ironic considering he set the story in goddamn London but what do I know
It would be cool that once he np's and becomes a berserker, he'll have a guts and debuff timer, when the time is up he'll die and procs the guts forcing him to be an assassin again but still keep the buster up lol
It would be kinda neat if dangerous game as Hyde turned you back into jekyll, purged your hyde buffs, and filled your HP back up so you could cycle back and forth to stay alive (i mean as much as a 3* can anyway)
I’ve said this a couple of years ago, but he would be a fair 3-star servant if his Star Drop and Star Gather rate stayed the same in his Berserker form as his Assassin form. But we’re like 6 1/2 years in. Just use anybody else.
Love the video. I actually have a level 100 Jekyll because i like to grail memes, and I can say that while occasionally I find him annoying to setup, if you manage to get Hyde going his damage output can be very shocking for a 3 star unit and I think that’s a lot of fun.
I did actually drag a level 70 Jekyll all the way to Goetia, he even got the killing blow. Not knowing at the time the depths of his awfulness given the new player inexperience
Honestly, what i would give him would be he could switch back to hyde and also have his np drop stars or gain stars per turn. Also have his first hp and buster buff be unremovable but subsequent nps be for 3 or 5 turns. Tho with how elusive hyde sounds in the story it would make since if they put a 1 time evade but looking at the gameplay, he desperately needs some star gen.
"Glopping noise" made me experience exactly the kind of revulsion people felt looking at Hyde. That crawling itch of discomfort aside, I really, dearly wish he was actually usable at anything other than Suffering for Content(TM). We get enough of that from events already, no need to punish us for liking the cute guy. To be honest, I'm amazed they haven't made a Jekyll but actually good - not a Jekyll Specifically, of course, it'd probably be a waifu, but the outright class change gimmick has so much potential if it's done literally any other way between literally any other classes BUT the ones Jekyll uses.
Hyde. Inshun. Gilles. Benkei. Eric. Team "they had a fan who believed they were good but won't admit they can't be used for anything somewhere" and yes "had" isn't a typo
Man, it's disappointing to hear about Jekyll being this bad. I was sorely tempted to Grail him as my low-rarity grail choice, but went with Hans instead.
The sad part is that they've had opportunities to fix him and have done his changing gimmick well with other servants. Hell all he'd need is a decent attack NP as Hyde and he'd be at least usable.
man I wish they rework him to act the same as Melusine but instead of the NP changing upon using S3 his deck and class changes upon using NP, but Lasengle doesnt have a reason to use it
1:25 The Old Man of the Mountain is not the only good assassin for Grail Fronts. Kama saved my run in the last one since she's literally immortal with that endless guts. Edit: ...when will the next book review come out?
I think an easy concept for this would just be to add a new np specifically for hyde. Like, just make his side of the NP a nasty ST nuke that reverts him to Jekyll, with the heal. That way you create a risk-reward gameplay loop of trying to stay alive as Hyde long enough to NP, then blow your load and repeat. Would also make him something of a poor man's King Hassan in regards to survivability, come to think of it.
It really does suck cause he's unironically my favorite male servant and i have him grailed to 98 but stopped to focus on my favorite female servants and then just never tocuhed him afterwards after i got betgter servants i really hope he gets some kond of change or rework to make him usable better cause i love the guy
Imagine summoning this Assassin/Berserker in a Holy Grail War where Ozymandias is a thing... Nevermind other potential stronger Servants lol. King Hassan would feel so insulted that he would Independently Manifest just to put down this disgrace to all Assassins lol
The Prototype version of Jekyll and Hyde is a complety different monster compare to his FGO version. It take Arthur, Arash, Brynhild and Ozymandias to put werewolf Hyde down. Too bad they will never put his werewolf form in FGO until they make a Proto collab and buff him.
Honestly, they need to make him Melusine-lite. Let his Noble phantasm be functional in Hyde form. Whether they want to play around with swapping between the two, giving the same heal effect + either a crit up, or NP battery and charge to go into Hyde again. Or have it just buff Hyde with each use.
I once heard a guy who said that Jekyll should get an update where he gets a Ray Horizon like skill that swaps Jekyll in Hyde instead of tying it to his NP
Ever since I learned about Saber Elizabeth, I always thought Jekyll could get buffs inspired by her second skill. A full rework would definitely be the better improvement, but if the devs never go that route . . . Then I think it would be cool if his skills had additional effects that would activate if he had a certain amount of NP. Would give his NP Gauge something to do once he's Hyde, and be a good excuse to give him powerful effects that could make him fun to use.
Jekyll is fun during Grail Fronts. He's like, the only fun part of Grail Fronts. The only nuance to an otherwise incredibly flat, solved gamemode. Thank god for Jekyll, the secret Zerk
He needs buffs like: While in Berserker Form with Full NP gauge. If He dies deplete NP gauge and revive as a assassin again. Berserker Form with damage + base on His NP Gauge (300% NP damage = 300% damage buff).
I feel like Hyde could have benefitted from having an NP. Something like a Quick NP that turns Hyde back to Jekyll, heals, purges buffs+debuffs, provides a permanent unremovable atk+def buff (in reference to Hyde growing more determined each time Jekyll took control back) and stuns him for the rest of the turn. He still would not be good, but it could give Jekyll something to work with.
The fix to this trainwreck is so trivial as well, just give hyde's dangerous game real effects. Fuck it, give him a carbon copy of Saint War Order, even the laziest angle possible would do the trick. Can't convince me that they don't know that this is the way to lift him up for at least 5 years.
I know they never will, but I feel like they could easily make his NP have an effect to turn all his cards to buster. Regardless. It is a very cool concept. I do hope they explore it again sometime. Maybe in reverse. He starts as Hyde and turns to Jeykl
Honestly, the way to fix this guy is to tie more buffs to his transformation. I would argue that as Hyde, he should be Stun/Charm immune and that his skills should have their CDs go down by 1 whenever he kills a foe.
Sucks that he can only buster brave chain once they should've really made him, so when he uses np, it changes him, then instantly refreshes his battery so he can use a hyde np that would do damage, drop stars and boost np damage predamage. Even with this, he would still be terrible, but at least he would be able to np after transformation and do some damage, especially with the crit skill being boosted as a zerk.
I always just wanted hyde's np to be a high power buster attack, i.e give it a quick np's scaling with somekinda overcharge that increases its damage by alot, and give it ignore invul, heal him to max hp, but give it 3 demerits, give it an indefinite max hp down equal to the max hp up of his np5, and remove all buffs, the idea is to follow the lore on how hyde ruins jekyl's life, removing everything he builds up and weakening him, and of course turning back into jekyll. that way you enter a loop where hyde shifts between jekyll and hyde, where you build up jekyll only for hyde to use everything in a single burst that ruins everything for jekyll only for jekyll to fall back to it again.
Dr. Jekyll was one of the servants I used a lot as a new player. I didn't know anything about the meta and didn't care about it. I liked him, the stabbing animations and sound effects were cool and he was effective against riders, that was all I could ever ask for back then :) But somewhere around Camelot I realized that he didn't feel as good to play as in previous singularities. As if he suddenly became weaker... But soon I realized that he was never strong to begin with, it just that early singularities were easy and forgiving. It's sad that a character with an interesting feature and backstory turned out to be so bad... I don't play him anymore, but I use a ce with his portrait (the one that gives +50 bond points) almost all the time. So in a way, he's still in my team hehe :)
He’d be far better if his NP just became a regular buster attack after he turns into Hyde, and that’s just a sad fact. I personally adored the guy when I first started playing, just because I thought his gimmick was neat. That and he’s cute.
I remeber getting this guy when I first started FGO thinking. Oh what a great idea! Too bad it never worked... I do like him a char thought him a Mordred has a great rapport.
So that’s the tragedy of Dr. Jiggle and Mr. Slide. Had Horrid Henry been better post transformation, and Eddy much stronger to compensate for his costs, we’d be singing a different tune here.

It’s hilarious how bad he is when Hyde is canonically insanely strong yeah he can be beat but he’s basically a wild animal with an geniuses IQ he’s one of the few berserkers who realistically can have the full benefit of Madness Enhancement and not lose his sanity the guy should be like dead apostle ancestor level in terms of difficulty to kill like make his NP as Hyde a guts that restores full hp
I've always loved these servant guides, I'm especially glad you've added the lore bits. It's just cool to hear you talk shop bout these servants.
More effort went into this video than the servant is about great job fino keep it up
Something about f2p assassin's just make me sad. Mata Hari and Corday are decent but maaan this class got done dirty in year 1
Dude you have a talent for story telling.
Feels ironic considering he set the story in goddamn London but what do I know
Wow what a poetic summary of the story! Good work!
The only Servant who actively gets weaker with his buff.
Tho with how elusive hyde sounds in the story it would make since if they put a 1 time evade but looking at the gameplay, he desperately needs some star gen.
i love the longer videos and the lore parts too
"Glopping noise" made me experience exactly the kind of revulsion people felt looking at Hyde.
I see a guide, I click, I’m a simple man
Hyde. Inshun. Gilles. Benkei. Eric.
Team "they had a fan who believed they were good but won't admit they can't be used for anything somewhere" and yes "had" isn't a typo
Shouldn't Geronimo replace Inshun ?
benkei can be good
I know you're just farming likes with your myriad comments, but if you think Inshun is Hyde or Eric level you're on some next level cope.
@@Awoken0 he's just the average Fate fan neckbeard, don't worry about it, i don't think they even have sapience
Imagine putting Ishun and Gilles the Lolicon/shotacon same level as Hyde 😂
Man, it's disappointing to hear about Jekyll being this bad.
I was sorely tempted to Grail him as my low-rarity grail choice, but went with Hans instead.
The sad part is that they've had opportunities to fix him and have done his changing gimmick well with other servants. Hell all he'd need is a decent attack NP as Hyde and he'd be at least usable.
Jekyll: would you lose?
Hyde: Nah, I'd win.
Nice Vid as always but im still waiting on that Eresh guide 0.0
Great video, really loving the backstories!
man I wish they rework him to act the same as Melusine but instead of the NP changing upon using S3 his deck and class changes upon using NP, but Lasengle doesnt have a reason to use it
dw dont bother to fix him, lasagna dont bother to fix him
I heard about J & H for a long time but never got curious about him enough to search him up, thanks for the history lesson
13:19 I understood that reference
Honestly, they need to make him Melusine-lite. Let his Noble phantasm be functional in Hyde form.
Whether they want to play around with swapping between the two, giving the same heal effect + either a crit up, or NP battery and charge to go into Hyde again.
Or have it just buff Hyde with each use.
Loved the book recap, would not mind more of those
I once heard a guy who said that Jekyll should get an update where he gets a Ray Horizon like skill that swaps Jekyll in Hyde instead of tying it to his NP
I love my Mata Hari
Cant believe how much I liked this video about this meme character.
That guy needs Melusine's treatment.
Loved the vid as always. It's great to listen to them while doing sth else :)
Damn good video Fino🎉🎉🎉
Here’s an easy Jekyll buff idea: make the buffs given by the effect of Dangerous Game “boxed” and non-purgeable.
"Outside of first Hassan, Assassins tend to be pretty bad in that mode" *angry Kama noises*
He needs buffs like:
While in Berserker Form with Full NP gauge. If He dies deplete NP gauge and revive as a assassin again.
Berserker Form with damage + base on His NP Gauge (300% NP damage = 300% damage buff).
17:38 Nice timing
It's kind of wild they've never tried a Servant with the ability to change their class since then. Maybe it was just too hard to program or something.
I know they never will, but I feel like they could easily make his NP have an effect to turn all his cards to buster.
Regardless. It is a very cool concept. I do hope they explore it again sometime. Maybe in reverse. He starts as Hyde and turns to Jeykl
Summer Hyde copium....
I love the story of Jekyll and Hyde. It's a shame he's such a absolutely horrible servant
Honestly, the way to fix this guy is to tie more buffs to his transformation. I would argue that as Hyde, he should be Stun/Charm immune and that his skills should have their CDs go down by 1 whenever he kills a foe.
They should upgrade his np to be used in the berserker form to go back to the assassin form and gaining different buffs
I always just wanted hyde's np to be a high power buster attack, i.e give it a quick np's scaling with somekinda overcharge that increases its damage by alot, and give it ignore invul, heal him to max hp, but give it 3 demerits, give it an indefinite max hp down equal to the max hp up of his np5, and remove all buffs, the idea is to follow the lore on how hyde ruins jekyl's life, removing everything he builds up and weakening him, and of course turning back into jekyll. that way you enter a loop where hyde shifts between jekyll and hyde, where you build up jekyll only for hyde to use everything in a single burst that ruins everything for jekyll only for jekyll to fall back to it again.
he's a Servant whose NP makes him actually worse.
Can you please make a vid on Super Bunyan or avenger chloe? I'm considering pulling for them but I'm not sure
Shiting on Jekyll/Hyde is favorite pass time for fgo creators, and Im here for it.
Sorry Jekyll fans, all two of you.
So in a way, he's still in my team hehe :)
kinda wished hydes gets a damaging np or just a buf with a delayed transform back to jekyl with the heal.
Sooo..you're telling me that hs is even worse than that 0 star avenger from that friend point summon?
At least you can use Angry Matthew's NP more than once and could actually have it damage them. Plus, my guy has guts, so there's that as well.
He has a Quick up, gut and a pretty decent albeit niche Bond CE. Not to mention his NP is reusable.
He's doing his best :c
Wait until they release him as a grand alterego
What I wanted: Bruce Banner and the Hulk
What I got: British man
not the "Glopping noise" deep cut lmao
Legit just make it so they can swap back and forth
He’d be far better if his NP just became a regular buster attack after he turns into Hyde, and that’s just a sad fact. I personally adored the guy when I first started playing, just because I thought his gimmick was neat. That and he’s cute.
I remeber getting this guy when I first started FGO thinking. Oh what a great idea!
Too bad it never worked...
I do like him a char thought him a Mordred has a great rapport.
Henry really needs a revamp first out of the remaining early servants
So that’s the tragedy of Dr. Jiggle and Mr. Slide.
Had Horrid Henry been better post transformation, and Eddy much stronger to compensate for his costs, we’d be singing a different tune here.
