Congratulations, Alex! I like all your videos and really appreciated this one! I do have a cancer you might be able to address in a future video: Every time I start up my 2019 Forester, the radio comes on to the previous volume, with the "I Agree" disclaimer. I cannot turn off the radio or even lower the volume for about ten seconds. Unless I remember to lower the volume to zero right before I switch the car off, I am faced with this the next time I start it up. I hope you have a clue how to resolve this. Hey Alex…..REALLY enjoy your very concise, informative, articulate, yet brief Subaru tutorials. After 6 months waiting for my ordered Outback XT Onyx, I finally got it last month. My 2 questions: 1) even though we can lock/unlock the car via the handle, w/ key fob in pocket…..can we only set the alarm using the key fob??? …..and 2) when camping, can I sleep in the the car w/ the alarm on…..or, is to sensitive to inside movement???

I have a 2019 Impreza and when I went to the vehicle settings, it does not show and auto lock/Auto Unlock setting it only gave the option for keyless entry and under that setting it only offered options for the hazard warning lights. I want my doors to lock either when I put my car in gear, or when I "get to speed". I asked at my dealership and the guy I asked said that the auto door lock is not available on my model, but in this video I thought you said it could be changed.

I recently purchased a 2022 ascent (premium) , and I have been learning a lot about my car’s features thanks to your tutorials. Yes, I’m subscribed to your channel. 👍🏼 My previous car was a 2010 crv. The whole fob keyless entry system is definitely new to me. How would you handle valet parking? Do you hand over the fob, do you remove the key and hand that over to the valet? I read the manual regarding this point, and the whole arming and disarming the system sounded a bit confusing. Could you please clarify this aspect of the car. How do you lock your glovebox ? Lastly, with the eyesight features, if I’m parking my ascent , should I be hearing an alert if I’m getting too close to a wall? Is the alert triggered by my car’s speed? Would I only hear an alert if I were traveling at high speed vs low speed when I’m parking? Thank you again for taking the time to create Subaru tutorials.

Just bought a 2023 Crosstrek. All your info has been incredibly useful. Quick question on settings: If I swap out the battery, do I lose all my settings and have to reprogram?
Alex thanks for this video because I was thinking about it. But one thing came to mind, to open the gas tank, I’m thinking I’ll have to unlock it using the unlock button on the driver door.
Something I've been thinking about and will be looking up but still might make a good video topic is disabling the lock and unlock beeps and honks for those of us that live in crowded residential areas and don't want to wake up the whole block.
Yes i wanted to mention this issue. Im most concerned with the remote starting feature through the my suburu app. It honks upon starting and can be annoying. Looking for a way to disable the horn when it remote starts. If there are any solutions, that would be very helpful.
@@andrewnguyen1154 Well, I figured out that the beeps when locking and unlocking are located in roughly the same menu he goes to in this video. Haven't found the horn yet when activating the alarm. I'll take it though, it's a big improvement.
Awesome videos Alex. I have a 2022 outback base model. How do I unlock the car using my valet key (physical key with no buttons) without the alarm going off. I use the valet key when I go surf and the alarm always goes off when I come back to the car! Keep up the great work! Your content is super helpful to many

My mom got a Wilderness a couple months ago and we changed all kinds of settings for weather alerts and stuff but I can’t remember how we found those.

My question for your proposed Q&A is how can you turn off the 2022 Forester feature that allows you to use hand gestures to increase or decrease temperature? It’s sooooo annoying! It doesn’t work well when you try to use it, and turns on when you didn’t mean to. Please tell me there is a way to turn that puppy off!

Hey Alex! Love your videos! What are your favorite or best options for smart phone storage? The cubby under the radio doesn't fit many larger phones, and I hate to put it in the cup holder. Especially if your have it plugged in, the cord tends to interfere with the shifter or just get in the way. What have you seen other people use as a solution for this?

Hi, I have a 2021 outback after having 2 pervious older models. When I lock the door when leaving the vehicle I like to push the lock button on the driver's side to lock all four doors and in the past when I'd close the door I'd hear a beep and I'd know the car was locked. Now I push the lock button and the doors lock but I don't hear the short beep. Anyway to turn this on on this model?

I just purchased a 2022 Subaru WRX premium with the 6speed manual, please explain how the boost gauge works and turbo , as this is my first WRX. I would like to know when does the turbo come on and the boost come on thanks
This is perfect, Alex. My wife was just asking me this question. What happens is, when we stop to get out of the car, she may need to get something out of the back seat...and the door is locked. Can i ask you, if you have pre collusion warning and emergency breaking on your Subaru forester premium? Is it standard or a Add on option?
@@amanbaniya6997 The things you asked about, all came standard. The added options that we got were all weather mats, front and back seats, the all weather cargo mat, the anti glare mirror which also has three buttons to open your garage door, a security gate and a front door or whatever you chose to unlock with a remote control. I only use it for the garage door. We also got a trailer hitch and wheel locks. Hope that helps you out a little bit.
@@amanbaniya6997 Also, the one thing that didn't come on our Premium is the automatic braking when you are in reverse. However, it does an excellent job of letting you know when someone is walking, riding a bicycle or in a vehicle. I absolutely love this feature. I think that feature comes standard in the Sport model and above. Alex would be able to answer that for you!

Alex, your videos are very helpful, thanks. Here’s my question: at this time I’m using a key (by clicking) for entry into my 2019 Subaru Outback. With this key… is it possible to unlock ALL doors at once? Or do I need to get a keyless fob to do this? And can I even get a keyless fob for my 2019? Any other suggestions? (I’d rather not make my passenger(s) wait until I manually press the unlock button on the inside of the driver’s door.) Thanks!
alex you should do a quick video of how to turn off the 4 icons that pop up when you start a subaru. they started popping up after my first oil change and then it stoarted popping up on my display screen on the forester
Would tell me, if you can, if I can use my iPhone to open and lock the doors on the Subaru Crosstrek. I have ‘my Subaru‘ installed and working but there isn’t a setting to allow me to be able to use the iPhone

I know my doors lock when I’m driving, if when I am driving and by chance my car loses power, will my doors automatically unlock or will I be locked in there. My question is I can't keep my GPS Google's maps uo on the monitor it comes on and then it goes off and all I hear is the voice and I go by the voice but I get no visual. How do you make the Google's Maps stay lit on your monitor???
Make sure your phone software and google Map app uptodate.
@alexpmo Do we have an option in Subaru that locks the doors when walk away with the keyfob after stopping the engine. GMC terrain had that very useful option. It will be very helpful if you always forget to lock the car manually when you walk away.

Hey, I have Forester Z with a regular key (not keyless). It requires double clicks on the button for unlocking all doors (the first click unlocks just the driver's door. Do you know how to set it to unlock all doors in a single click?

Just bought my 2023 Subaru WRX and it is driving my crazy that it does not stay locked. I turned off the auto unlock feature on setting as you showed in this video but it doesnt mattter. I use the key fob to lock it BUT all ANYONE has to do to get in the car is pull the handle from either side front doors. If you know what I need to do to stop that from happening it would be great. Right now my car is a sitting duck for car thieves. BIGGEST reason I've NEVER like the engine start without a key.

Hi. Just subscribed to your channel with hope that you will be able to help me fix my problem. We have a 2019 crosstrek with keyless entry. All of a sudden, the Driver’s door AND window are not working. Door no longer unlocks automatically. I can still unlock it manually, however. Window won’t go down anymore. Did I do something and accidentally change the settings? All other doors and window work fine.
Not on 2020 Outback Premium?
Does Subaru have a remote start and entry in or on Single unit?

Alex, my wife's Ascent 22 locked her out yesterday and would not open useing fobs or service key. The car was off when she left it unlocked but it locked and ignition turned on and off many times. We called suburu road service and in about 2 hours service was trying to open with flex bar but we asked them to try again service key. Car opened and it was not running but about 5 gallons gas was used. Any idea of what happened? Jim Wallis
I have a 2023 Subaru outback. When I touch the locked drivers door handle and my friend touches the passenger door handle the both unlock. This don’t happen every time but does happen more than once

I have a 2018 XV [as the Crosstrek is called in the Uk] - I don't have the option to change this in screen settings. The manual talks about the security system keypad which is in the fuse box. It tells me to turn ignition on and press digit 7 on the keypad then turn off the ignition within 5 seconds - to toggle on/off. I've been following this but without success. Any ideas ??

Thanks! As of right now, Subaru doesn't have the auto lock feature when you leave your car. Hopefully that's something they will add in the future
Awesome channel and content. I own a 2021 Crosstrek and love using Apple CarPlay. But I find it very annoying the ways the FM radio kicks in. For example, before I shut off the car, I must first open the door then shut off the car. If not, it automatically changes the source from CarPlay to the the FM radio. Is there a setting where I can say “do not activate the FM radio unless explicitly chosen”?

Your videos have been so helpful! I usually lock the doors using the button on the driver's door when I park and get out of the vehicle. However, I'm standing there with my key in my purse, which UNLOCKS the doors when I come back. Can I be sure the doors are locked when I walk away? I can't check, as I used to on the old Subaru, because the doors open when I try. Thank you!!
Thanks for watching! based on what you've described, it sounds like you have keyless entry with push button start. If that's the case, you can be sure your car is locked by simply touching your finger to the two small grooves on the door handler near the key hole. This will make a beep sound, which indicates the car is locked. If you really want to be certain, you can take the extra step by manually clicking the lock button on your key fob until you hear the car honk. hope this helps!
Alex, you mentioned that this functionality was common among several 2019 model year Subarus including the Impreza. I have a 2019 Impreza Sport and my menu is different than yours. Under the “Vehicle” tab in settings, “Auto Door Lock/Unlock” appears under “Keyless Entry System” on your example car. Not so on mine, “Defogger” is under KES and I don’t find it anywhere else in the menu or under the menus on the other tabs. Any suggestions?

2019 Crosstrek limited does not have that option. Doors have to be locked manually 😤😔😔

2023 Forester here. When I walk up to the vehicle and touch the front drivers side door handle, I get two tones and the door is open. Yet, the drivers side passenger door is still locked. Is there a setting to unlock all doors?
