Romes been my dude since week 1 of the season. My literal ideal dream was getting him with Caleb on the Bears. But I didnt think it was gonna be possible. When pick 8 came in, and the Falcons picked... Penix.. I literally screamed with excitement. Then Pick 9 read Rome Odunze and like, im so hype. Romes been my #1 WR of this class. Super slept on because of that 4.45.
As a longtime Washington Husky alum and fan I would add that Rome is an all star person, smart, articulate, unselfish, entertaining, hardworking and confident but not cocky.
@@MattHarmonRP also noticed on the All-22 he’d get to his point on the route too quickly at times. 21% of Penix’s pass attempts in 2023 were 20+ yards or more. It’s a different dynamic for the WR when the QB is taking a lot of 7-step drops.
I have the 1.01,1.02,1.03,1.04, and 1.07 for this years draft in my 1qb league. I am beyond excited! My wr room is about to be insane. MHJ, Nabers, Odunze, Aiyuk, and Waddle. My TEs will be kittle and bowers. I’m counting down the days until the season starts
Even though the sizes are wildly different, I see a lot of Chris Olave in Rome from a stylistic standpoint. That kind of nuance and IQ as a big WR is RARE
@@christhompson3172 Most likely MHJ, Rome and Caleb. However, I have a slight hope the 1.02 passes on Nabers because he is loaded at WR and relatively thin at QB and TE.
@magmax76 depends where they all go boys. I'd flip a coin on Nabers and Rome tbh. Or take whoever goes to the Chargers instead of the giant. Idk I guess Maybe I would take Rome over Nabers that's a hard decision. Could you trade a pick and not make the decision? Maybe you can get Garrett Wilson for the 1.03
Rome being wr3 isn't an indictment of Rome, but rather an endorsement of how good Nabers and MHJ are.... In most classes Odunze is an easy wr1, this is just an insane class.
Follow up to my own comment here, but looking more and more like Poles made the right choice here (post draft, but before training camps)... I kind of assumed Nabers was going to have some personality concerns (and it looks like he does, and it looks worse than I expected), but MHJ's post draft has been pretty concerning as well.... Odunze, on the other hand, had great reports of character pre draft and has been nothing short of stellar since drafted. Pre draft, I'd still have had Nabers and MHJ above Odunze on pure talent/ceiling, but Odunze so far the only one showing the kind of personality that ever actually reaches that ceiling.
I have pick 3 in the draft this year and was kinda bummed cause my team decided to score more points in the 4 game span that decided the top 4 picks. If I can get Odunze though, I’ll be happy. 1&2 are supposed to be MHJ&Nabers, and this video helps me feel better lol.
I liked that he showed up and worked out at the combine - I’d actually tier Rome with MJH but I’d put Nabers above both. There is a clear separation like you said to the Brian Thomas tier …Rome is a baller and he gets a pass on breakout age with the weird Covid year
What you guys say about his downfield ability makes worried about his qb situation (if on the NYG) starting to really like the idea of him in Chicago if he goes there
What are the odds the PAC-12 helped him obtain his all green route tree? I want to love him, I have 1.05 and 1.06 in a SF league so been thinking Nabers & Rome. Just a lil worried bc I need a QB so might reach for QB3/4 if he’s there over Rome
I have 1.1 (Williams), 1.2 (MHJ) and 1.5 and I'm still not sure I'll get Nabers at #5! I'll for sure get Nabers or Odunze though so I'm fine. I'll take either over JJ, but could be tempted by Maye if I needed QB.
I know DJ Jeremiah has brought up the Larry Fitzgerald comp and at first I kind of scoffed at that but really, Larrys NFL production was never as special as it was considering how long he did it. 100-1100-10 every. single. year. Every down year is offset by a target funnel, Kurt Warner 1400 yard season. I could see that outcome with Rome. Guaranteed top 10 WR every year but doesnt have one single beyond-dominant trait that makes him the NFL WR1 in a given year.
Ive looked at films from all the top WR in the NFL and odunze looks like a devante adams highlight reel the most. Someone NOT in the league is larry Fitzgerald
I think Odunze is a 60-80 reception a year guy. Think Brandon Aiyuk. He is an athletic freak. He is competitive. I believe Robert Saleh loves his competitive nature. But if you put a ghost trial of Nabers on the same route, Nabers just looks way better and like he can beat any coverage. Bryan Thomas also looks better in running routes... Until you get frustrated watching Thomas drop passes.
Most NFL teams are looking for twitch in receivers..elusiveness…ability to start and stop. Odunze has none of these traits that I see on tape. Just a guy that is bigger and stronger than most college defensive backs.
Naber's is much better you guys are click baiting the masses, Odunze went against lesser Defenses in the PAC 12, name a top CB in PAC 12 u can't. Maybe the kid at Oregon if I'm being nice
All 3 of the Top WRs are studs, won't argue with you which is better than the other but Odunze is still part of that conversation and was great against every level including Michigan

I’d bet that Rome has the best career out of this WR class. Not knocking the others, but he is by far the most versatile player
He’s one of those guys that elite at so many areas that you underestimate how good he is.
And because of the QB they have throwing to him. I totally see the similarities to rodgers and Adams careers
As a longtime Washington Husky alum and fan I would add that Rome is an all star person, smart, articulate, unselfish, entertaining, hardworking and confident but not cocky.
Odunze often changes the speed on his routes to confuse DBs. It looks like he's gliding to the naked eye, but he's just out there messing with them.
love the way you said this. perfect

Truly personal preference between the 3 of them
Odunze is definitely better than Nabers.....I think he's mentally tougher than Harrison....I have red flags on Harrison

Love me some Odunze, hoping he makes it to the Jets at 10. Can't wait to see the Brian Thomas Jr breakdown.
Coming soon!
I thought you would comp him to Larry Fitzgerald since they're basically the same size and skillset.

Just like we are blown away by Odunze, I am blown away by James and Matt
I love Rome as a prospect, Nabers will probably make more long TD plays, but i think Rome gets more targets. He was wide open all game vs Michigan

The Bears had Rome Odunze number two on their entire draft behind Caleb Williams
The next Irving Fryar
How many catches did he have in championship game against the wolverines or was he shut down
5 for 87 yards
