Chris, please replace the 7.75" deck by the BLIND GAVIN DOG PUND SLICK 1993 REISSUE 8.125" deck and keep your indies and 50mm wheels... Replace hardware too 😅. You will trippin' on it 😊🎉 !!! Peace
@@khmerboredom4 I think the reason why people prefer wider boards nowadays is because its easier to adjust the amount of pop and flip you get. With more narrow boards its pretty damn fast no matter how slowly you flick or gently you pop.
Ben and Chris have such a uniquely entertaining chemistry! Funny, interesting, no noticable 'filler' chat, and very candid conversation. It would be really cool seeing more Crob collabs!
Im 41 and this video made my day seeing 2 dudes i respect (that are around my age) having fun.. Im teaching my 4 yr old how to skate now and your videos are super helpful.. Good to see some content although i do watch your other channel too.. I remodel homes as well… Thanks Ben ( and CR if you read it) That was awesome!!
So glad you are still putting out some content and didn't step away completely. Really liking the feel of these videos since the "goodbye" video also. Take care, Ben.
Love this video so much. Its so underrated getting just regular fun footage of y'all having fun. No need for some huge production. Super happy to see crob skate some
That was great! That spot looks super fun! I been riding the 8.5 true fit mold DLX decks with the 13,75 wheelbase. I thought it would be way to small so I switched from indys to Thunder 149s to even it out a bit. Its the perfect setup for me. Wide and stable but feels light and snappy!
You guys are definitely like the cool dads and uncles everyone wants to be like when they grow up! Thanks for always putting out dope content Ben! Loved this one 🔥
i don't mind a little hardware thread showing. 1", 1 1/8", 1 1/4", i like cast plates and sometimes ride risers. whenever they are flush with the nuts i feel like they'll come loose, even though it's never happened(with indy bolts anyway)
I totally wanted a Roberts twin paddle 😂, but ever since I tried the 14.25 wheelbase on a board, I've went bigger even. 8.5 too, and at or a bit longer than 32" is my fav right now. Been wanting to see this video, since you mentioned it from the previous vid, the one you were talking about the contrast of the smooth slappy and rough ground. I can't wait to really put more skating down on the 8.5 when the snow clears
if you haven't tried the twin paddle Girl/Chocolate boards i highly suggest you do. great video Ben. I was goin through the same thing as Chris. wanted one setup that felt comfortable for everything. -8.25 twin paddle -Venture 5.6 V-lights -bones X97 52mm V5
All industries want consumers to buy as much as possible. The more confused we are, the more stuff we have to buy to figure out what actually makes us happy. Content like this helps average people avoid being abused by the tyranny of capital, even just that little bit, and get more enjoyment out of what we love. Skateboarding. Thanks, dudes.
This is what we needed. My best skating was on the 8.25 Crob Twin. My worst skating was on the 8.5 Crob Twin 😂. Crazy because the only difference in the measurements is the width. I skated ventures on the 8.25 and Tensor Mags on the 8.5 maybe that was it. 🧐
Ah, man, for a second there, I thought we were headed for a classic awkward outro, and then Chris's one-liner made us all laugh our asses off!! Awesome 😂
This is so cool! I have learned so much you from your carpentry videos. Especially mudding. I had no idea you were a skater too! I grew up skating. I saw your interview on nine club, and was like WHAT… I know that voice
Glad I watched this. I’ve been debating on a second set up for slappys. I still can’t get them and feel I’d benefit off a bigger board and bigger trucks
I'm definitely one of the weirdos with too many set ups that loves the technical jargon. It's fun to see what other skaters skate and why. This was super fun to watch.
Honestly just loved this video. Also might have to try out these Chocolate boards that Chris has in the video. They both look super fun to skate on! All of the specs on them sounds exactly like what I've been searching for in a skateboard deck!
If i were to setup again my mid90s setup, it would be 7.5 board with venture 5.0 lo and boardycakes / snot 42mm 😀.. Currently riding 9" quasi egg with 159 team hollows and 54mm X97
I'm a 39yr residential electrician/skateboarder who previously dreamed of doing a similar skateboard channel as what you've done. But I'm now recalling you saying on 9club the construction lane is way more open. So Id be correct in saying you think that's a better avenue for a newbie with little to no following? and would you say it's more lucrative overall? Btw grew up on 7.75s went to 8 coming back early 30s slowly went up deck then trucks 8.25 first and finally landed on the 8.38 Schmidt decks, 8.25 thunders 54mm 98a slimeball atm. And the 8.38, 8.25 truck combo you mention at the end is magical.
I like how more brands are selling 8.5 boards with 14.25 WB instead of 14.5, for some reason but find it so much harder to pop on that long of a wheelbase. I do a lot of transition too so maybe that’s why idk. Even being a taller guy I find that having it a bit smaller (but not too small) is my preference
Remember Santa Cruz shock block riser pads? What was the shallow trapezoid riser pad that spread out weight/energy on outside surface area around truck? Dame thing? OG impact technology.
Skates for Cindy Trucks ? lol The 7.75 looks like a classic late 90's / early 2000's board what we all used to skate with 50mm wheels very cool easter to flip i don't know how they flip 8.25+ so fast and easy these days. I remember 7.5 boards with low ventures to fit and worn 50mm wheels probably like 48mm and in a windy day would blow away from under your feet they where so light and all the rage at pier 7 late/early 2000's. The 8.25's+ must be agony when they hit your shins and ankle bones. I love Chris's 8.25 setup it looks like a real skaters board setup really perfected. What size thunders would you recommend for 8.25's the 148 or 149 its very confusing for an old skater that just rolls around and is incapable these days. Wonderful video 411 vibes just so wonderful to see you back again.
1 inch hardware worked best for me, especially when I was street skating around town a lot. The little bit of extra thread on the 1 in bolts seemed to keep a better hold and stay tighter longer. 7/8 hardware would always get loose more often (from skating rough terrain), and I've lost a lot of nuts because of that. So it was always 1 inch hardware for the win. 👍🏻
Thanks Ben for roasting my boards! 😂❤️
My pleasure Chris. I look forward to seeing what you settle into for your more permanent setup and I hope you manage to evade any madness
More of this guys, its s winner
