  • Ruts. There are many different kinds of ruts. You have ruts in your brain that can determine your risk for Alzheimer’s disease. But the character of your brain ruts is what makes all the difference. There are also life ruts, or behavioral ruts. And they have an impact on your risk for Alzheimer’s, too.

    Great thinking cap Dr Barbie and it goes so well with your lovely outfit. I come from a well educated and active family and my dear grandmothers had senior cognitive disabilities. I.so appreciate this education to understand something about how the brain functions and ways to support and enhance this brain function. This is so important without estrogen feeding our wonderful female brains. I had no idea how beneficial this psyco mutt would be. She's difficult but so worth it. Unlike any other pet I have cared for in strength energy and intelligence. She works my brain, heart, joints, muscles, bones and I always have to balance around her sniffing playing whatever. I have a very small business starting up.soon I just need my supplies in a closer storage unit and from there I'm building an alternative housing community. Thankfully none of this stuff is what I would consider easy but I'm passionate about all of it. How cool that doing this stuff to help others will help preserve my brain. Thank you.

    Learning how to manage my menopause my way at Menopause University is a big help.

    Dr. Taylor, thank you so much for all of your informative videos thus far, and also for writing your amazing Menopause book. I was lucky to find a doctor about 10 years ago when I was 49 and had been told by my GP to "take up a hobby" when I described by perimenopausal symptoms, and also told to take Effexor by my gynecologist to alleviate those same symptoms. Fortunately I found my current doctor who immediately tested my hormones and went from there. He literally saved my marriage and helped me to get back my quality of life by prescribing estrogen and progesterone topical compounded drops. Most recently he prescribed estriol suppositories, which greatly helped a recent issue of vaginal dryness-they made a world of difference. My hormone levels are tested once a year.
    It's so unfortunate that we women are so uninformed and misinformed about perimenopause and menopause. Thank you and please continue your awesome work. You're a gift

    My Dad is the smartest man I've ever known. He was a German professor for 33 years at the university here. He was very knowledgeable on so many subjects. I loved to talk to him because we shared many interests but also to pick his 🧠 as I would often say. There was virtually no subject that he had not educated himself on. He was valedictorian of his HS class, had done his PhD in Heidelberg, Germany. He taught Sunday School for forty plus years and even taught part time after he began to develop dementia. He loved to garden, grew fruit trees, had honeybees, made honey, was an avid reader and a lifelong learner. He was very active in public life and socially and faithfully served his community for 50+ years. He was diagnosed with dementia three years ago. The dumber you are the greater your risk for Alzheimer's?? Absolutely not. A female colleague and close friend of his who taught French and Russian also developed Alzheimer's a few years before him. This information is not accurate at all.

    • @MenopauseTaylor
      @MenopauseTaylor  3 года назад +1

      I did not say that smart people cannot get Alzheimer's. People like your dad don't show signs of the disease until much later than people who are less intelligent.
      There is something called epigenetics, which I will teach you about in future videos. That's where how you live your life defers onset of the disease.
      You should not denounce valid scientific information based on a few acquaintances ... ever.

    Hi Dr Taylor- I’m in the process of watching all of your videos! I’m wondering if you would be willing to have a consultation with someone like me. I’m 34 years old and for 7 months, have been on testosterone pellet as well as progesterone 150mg capsules. I also take dhea 5mg and DIM 150. I feel like DIM has been the only thing that’s been noticeably helpful as I’ve noticed some of my androgen symptoms have minimized and some head hair has grown back. Otherwise, I felt better before the hormones (and my thyroid is even much better now!) I’m tired all the time, I’ve lost my body shape, gained just fat in my middle (never in my life), and just generally feel lethargic, weak, and fatigued. The hormones were supposed to help me, I was told, by “98%” I’m young , but was told this could be perimenopause. My mom started in her 30s too and my period started at age 7. I’m bummed because I wish I had never started them considering I felt better before. I just want to feel the best I can possibly feel, but am afraid this isn’t the answer for me. Would you be willing to see me if I scheduled an appointment despite my age and circumstances?

    Barbie, I’m so grateful for your education! May I please ask you something?
    The transdermal HRT patches that my doctor prescribes for me release a daily dosage of Estradiol 50 micrograms. Is this dosage high enough to help prevent the long term diseases if menopause? Also, as I am switching to a vegan diet like yours, do you think that it would be wise for me to take a vitamin B12 supplement for the recommended daily allowance 25 mcg per day?
    Thank you and bless you for all that you do XX

    • @MenopauseTaylor
      @MenopauseTaylor  3 года назад

      The 50 mcg estradiol patch is the ABSOLUTE LOWEST dosage that can prevent the diseases that are due to estrogen deficiency. Depending on your age, it may or may not be enough FOR YOU. The only way to be absolutely sure is to have everything tailored specifically TO YOU in a consultation.
      All vegans must supplement with Vitamin B 12. How much depends on YOUR Vitamin B 12 status.
