It’s very common for highly developed economies to have higher debt-to-GDP ratios. It’s normal and not necessarily bad. They can typically secure lots of debt at low interest rates. Besides, there’s a lot more that goes into credit/country risk.

Are you guys making this up all along or is there a script you're given ? Economic statistics are a few keystrokes away. It's trivial to find out what GDP growth figures are for France (0.9%), Germany (-0.3%), UK (0.1%), US (2.5%), Russia (3.6%), China (5.2%) etc. It's not as if its the 1990 and people just had to accept what "experts" said.

The issue is not whether or not Russia can win and hold any territories in Ukraine, the issue is how long can Russia do it. Russia before this war is a 2 trillion economy, the longer this war drag on, the longer Russia would have to pay for both immediate term and long term. The money needed to raise to keep a 500,000 standing army (it itself would have cost over half a trillion dollars a year with pay and benefits) and then money that need to replace the lost equipment, and in long term the loss of economic power from losing the prime male population to this war, the deaths, the seriously wounded, the missing and the exiled.
Putin is waging two wars here, one on the physical battlefield in Ukraine, the other in the economic arena with the entire collective West. It didn't matter if Ukraine is bankrupt, as long as the West keep supporting the war, it may ruin Ukraine future generation but no one in the West is directly involved so their economy will sustain this, Russia on the other hand would have to match how much money the West put into Ukraine, and that alone runs into hundreds of billions of dollars, and that's before their own expediture on keeping that large standing army for operation.
Russia needs the end game to achieve in the next 2 years, no one, not even the American can sustain a standing army that big and that long, this is as costly, if not more costly than when US get involved in Vietnam, only that Russia is not remotely as rich as the American.
A single Patriot battery plus missiles is somewhere in the 2B dollar range--just how do you expect a nation to just pass them off to the oligarchs of Ukraine for free?
