The final steps of our sailboat window build. Backfilling with sikaflex and painting the hull.

  • The windows are glued into the hull and now it's time to use even more sikaflex to backfill the seams. Those windows are going to be sooo watertight (hopefully). The next step after backfilling with sika is adding the beautiful stainless steel outer frames. This turns out to be more difficult than thought, as we need to increase the diameter of the holes we drilled. We somehow managed to destroy three drill bits in the process until we understand how to correctly drill stainless steel. Well, we live and we learn.
The final step of the windows is of course the hull painting. You remember that we fared the hull and packed the polyester faring in epoxy paint. So now it is time to paint over with toplac in the same colour as the hull. With the tip and roll technique this works out absolutely fantastic.
    Super stoked with the results!

Now I know what you were doing that sunday afternoon. It was really fun meeting you at the boat yard. Is there a way to contact you via email? Nice bow design by the way.

Thanks! Yeah the bow design is only temporary for now, but we would love to do something similar for the finished paint job!
Currently there is no way to contact us via email, but it is a good point and we will try to make something available soon!
      Cheers!
