Thank you, thank you, thank you! Cannot thank you enough and your personality and passion are EVERYTHING!!!
I am so glad I found this. I have a silk fetish. It's my favorite.
Hi there, great video. I’ve been doing some research and im finding it a bit difficult to deciding what silk is best to make luxury scarves with. Or where in the world to find genuine suppliers. Help please.!! Anything helps.
where can i purchase some silk PJs & Robe please
Helloooo friend! I have a little question I was hoping you might be able to help me with… I recently purchased a vintage Celine double breasted blazer trench/Dress and it has a 6:2 button design… I noticed that the 2 functioning buttons on the blazer dress seem a bit asymmetrical meaning when buttoned they do not 100% align horizontally… it sort of annoys me since I’m a bit OCD with symmetry in lines, architect, designs ect… I was wondering if this is supposed to be this way, or if the manufacturer was lazy or blind and did not properly align the buttons 😂😅 I’m contemplating whether to have my seamstress remove the buttons to symmetrically align them perfectly. Also part two of my inquiry - this blazer / dress has high peak lapels, there appears to be three single stitches holding the peaks of the lapels together, the stitching doesn’t seem meant to be very sturdy (my assumption as one of the stitches has come undone) I was wondering if those three little stitches on the lapels are meant only for keeping wrinkles out of them for keeping shape during the storage and shipping prior to the sale of the garment.
I was wondering if I am supposed to unstitch those three little stitches (the way you’d un stitch a closed functioning pocket) or if it’s meant to hold the high peaks of the lapels together?
Should I repair the single stitch which has come undone on the one peak of the lapel?
Lol maybe an odd question but I was hoping you’d have some expert advice for me! 💜😊
I will never walk into a fabric store again and ask for just "silk"....OMG....so much variety. Took 3 pages of notes.
hey Zoe ,I'm from India and you are my role model. It's hard for a guy to study fashion in India and I had many doubts . But you and your videos have been quite a support system for me . Thank-you for everything your doing and I hope you get much more subscribers and viewers in the ahead future.
You're welcome and thanks, I hope so too!

Guess who doesn't know anything about fabrics? Loving these series!
had to come back to brush up
Me too!
🙋🏻♀️
I can listen and listen again ..love it. Thank you
I'm getting my MFA in costume design right now, and I'm pretty sure this video taught me more in 30 minutes than I've learned about silk all semester! I've learned the hard way that a fabric can make or break a design, so thank you for ALL of your videos, but especially this one.
>>fabric can make or break a design
TOO TRUEYou're welcome and good luck with your studies!
Amy Poe Good teachers are hard to find and Zoe is excellent.
I was able to get a used bridal dress from a woman who did not want it any more after 25 years in her closet. It's 100% silk, minor tiny stains, and after this vid, I believe it is shantung... ! :) I don't know what I'll create out of it yet, I'm just so overwhelmed I actually got this lot of high quality fabric only by writing to a person and opening my door! It is a champagne color... excited! :)
Hi Zoe, I'm not in the fashion industry but started looking for videos on information regarding fabric and textiles for home sewing. I found you and enjoy watching your videos and I have learned so much.
Awesome!
Same! Looking for more information on buying clothes and upholstery actually. This video was very entertaining and informative!
What an amazing video, I’ve learnt so much , I’ve watched it twice and saved to watch again. I’m 64 and hand quilting a double bed patchwork quilt while watching. I did not know these things about silk. It’s like stepping into a different world .x
Hey hey party people, I hope this video helps you figure out what fabrics to buy for your next project! Titles and author names of books are in the description box. As usual, I'll be around for an hour after the video so hit me with all your questions!
Zoe Hong
Question:

I am just getting started in sewing, and this was so helpful! I was about to get a ton of swatches but your video helped narrow down which ones I should explore more and which ones to skip. Thank you!
This has been so HELPFUL! Thank you so much! Im getting into making my own clothes but didnt know how to order what I wanted online-till now! Your fun to listen to also. Thank you Thank you!
Excellent comprehensive video on fabrics! Thanks for the close-up views explaining all the weaves!
thank you SO much for making this video!! I live in a rural area with little variety in the fabric stores, so seeing this, and hearing you describe everything is so immensely helpful. I learned a lot!!
Thank you so much for going into depth about the fabrics and sharing examples of how to use them.
this is a brilliant educational on silk fiber and fabric! i have been in this business for many years and enjoyed tremendously your wonderful, fun narration - fantastic job!
Zoe, thank you taking the time to show all the swatches and explain them individually as well as comparing fabrics side by side to visually show the difference. So informative and helpful. I learned so much.
You're welcome!
Hi
I just found yr channel and love it . I am a beginner at sewing however I want to learn about fabrics as most sales reps in stores just want to sell and do not listen to client's wishes or advise the correct fabric client needs for her project . I like the fact u cater for design students but also keep in mind the basic home sewer as we all like to learn and improve our knowledge and hopefully the result of our project!
U r so professional and knowledgeable thanks so much dear for sharing . I have subscribed and will follow u !!

This helped me alot. I'm new to fabrics and refuse to waste money buying and being disappointed. I've stuck to cottons, wools and linen fabrics until now. Your explanations were so helpful. Thank you
Amazing Zoe! Thank you so much and sorry it took me all day to watch the full video, but I kept pausing so I could go stuff a shopping cart on Mood’s website. ❤️ Now that I know more about what to look for… .
You’re the greatest, Zoe.
Zoe, I actually say HEY PARTY PEOPLE at work now 😂 I am a fabric fanatic I named my dog Chiffon... thanks for the great video
hahahahahahahahaha
You are such an inspiration! I love your videos, they are so informative. I am a new learner with no edu background in this field and I've learnt so much from you! thanks a lot for this.
You're welcome!
Thank you ZOE for everything i 've learnt from you is just so so helpful AND your voice is amazingg!!
so very helpful. Thankyou so much x you know when you are holding something. it feels special but it is just a guess. knowing what to look for and explaining as you do. fantastic. Thankyou.
Your entire playlist is toooooo helpfullll
Zoe you’re the best teacher 💕 I’ve been learning so much
love you zoe! over the past several days i've become quite a fan of your channel. keep up the good work
thanks!
Honestly one of the best fashion videos on RUclips period.
Im a garment tech student and this helped me differentiate fiber and fabrics and different silk fabrics.
I just love everything about this video🤍thank you so much you are like my favorite teacher!
I can't believe it! What I just watched? My favorite type of video - textile geekiness. I felt like I was watching new book from De Oost Bespoke Tailoring on yt. You both have some kind of wierd humor mixed with professional advice. I strongly recommend everyone to watch books with all kind of woolens and luxury wool blends in his playlist "Fabrics - Suiting - Cloth". This guy flips over swatches and talks about which is for what type of client.
Incredibly informative video. More of this. Thank you❤
Hi Zoe
Just found yr channel , u r great .
I am a beginner at sewing but I want to learn about fabrics as not all sales reps listen and respect clients wishes , they just want to sell . U r so knowledgeable I love the fact u also cater for basic sewers who want to learn . Pls always bear this in mind as many want to learn and improve their knowledge to help them make good choices and eventually get better results in their projects.
Well done dear I have subscribed and will follow U !!

I stumbled upon your videos specifically because I was looking for help with slippery fabrics like silks, so I'm very much anticipating the next "how to work with silks" vid!!
This is invaluable information! I'm adding this to my favorites so I can go back and refer to it when I need to. Thank you!
You're welcome!

Zoe I cannot tell you enough how awesome you are! I just started sourcing fabrics and I had no idea what some of these "categories" were on the distributors websites. You saved the day!!! I watch all your vids because you are simply a joy to watch!

14:05-16:23 has excellent side by sides for illustrating the difference of real silk vs synthetic. Handy for silk pillowcase shopping!

This was a joy to watch...
I am a silk painter... but now

wearable art... I just don't know the BEST Silk

Awwww Thank YOU so much Zoe...
I used to design and sew Long Riding Coats
like they wore on "The Young Guns" movie... 1988
Jon Bon Jovi came to Carlsbad, New Mexico where I
live and I crashed his party (YES... I did!!!) quietly, and asked
if I could design him a "Duster" coat... he agreed..
The next day a close friend of mine that worked at the newspaper wrote,
"Clothing Designer, "Desperado Original Arts" is going to new hights,
designing a duster for Jon Bon Jovi"...
OMGosh... did I get orders after that...
I had hand painted on the duster also.. Do you know how hard it is to do acrylics
on DUCK (canvas) fabric, which is water resistant... LOL ... But that was back in the day...
So much fun.. but I have had a "Taste" of design/creation/art....
Painting on Silk, is sooooooo much easier than water resistant Duck fabric... ;)
Thank you again for this GREAT Video.... I love watching and listening you describe in detail
about each fabric... You make it so interesting... and fun...
Thanks for sharing that story! What a trip!
@@zoehongteaches
RIGHT!!!!
I think that this another reason why I Love watching YOU do what you do...
You are the REAL Deal... You don't "ACT" like you're better than other people
just because you are very smart and have great knowledge of this material
(pun intended) ... lol
You make each person that watches your video... FEEL they too
can become an Artist... Designer.. etc... You have fun... play, make mistakes,
laugh at oneself... do it over... "Don't cry over spilt Ink"...
Zoe, you are such a joy and breath of fresh air...
Thank YOU so much for putting all the work you do into these
great videos... ;)
Thank you for all that information. It is great
Thanks
you talk in joy , i love it
OMG continue to be amazing
I didn’t see the full video but your really deserve a like for you funny and cutie reaction of how you liked the fabric 😆🥰

Thank you so much for the information! Great job! I got fooled when I bought silk from Lily silk definitely is polyester silk but charging silk prices.
thank you very much for this informative video.! thoiugh i'm german speaking and my english is okay it was very well to understand without subtitles. i will mark your entire playlist for futur if i ever need further help. :)
So informative. Thanks!!
Love ur explainations really helpful
Just the type of info I was needing! Trying to understand silk fabrics.
You, obviously, love fabrics and that makes your video more interesting. I too love the silky charmeuse.
Thank you for all this info and for sharing your passion. ❤️
Thank you I learned so much.
Love it so much
After working in a fabric shop for 3 years its only now that i understand fabrics better after watching this video..
This is so awesome! I came looking for an ID on some thrifted fabric that proved to be silk with a burn test, but was too soft to be taffeta. While I'm still not sure what it is (it shifts from dark brown to rust red and while it does faintly shimmer, is pretty matte) your video did explain what shantung was, and now I know that I've gotten a few cuts of that while thrifting, too! Thank you so much for this video! I wish I lived in an area that had fabric stores other than Joanns, I'd gladly go do that homework!
Sorry for reviving a year-old comment, but is that a Jester cosplay I see? I’m literally here trying to learn about fabrics because I want to hand-sew my own cosplay for the first time, and it’s a Jester costume! :D
@@GreatGoatRebellion it is! Hello, fellow Jester cosplayer!!! Are you planning to do L1 Jester, or L10? This is so exciting!!!
