clearly i should have read though the comments first, but the original tamper will not fit on this basket. i also have the normcore tamper that is 51.5mm that fits the original basket perfectly but will not go into the hugh. you will need to buy a regular 51mm tamper. the hugh basket itself does screw in nicely into my picopresso where the la pavoni basket did not - it made a screeching noise and did not hold pressure, leaking out the sides. while waiting for a 51mm tamper, i used a puck screen and finger-tamped the puck down - didn't produce optimal pressure but seems like there is no leaking at least.

Your video is very nice. I have a question: How many ml was the last Double Espresso you made and what was its temperature? What was the difference between the first espresso you made and the second espresso you made? Was there a difference in the basket? This is the first time I have seen so much output in a manual espresso machine. and also does it come with the large 51 ml basket you showed when purchasing this machine?
Does any of the IMS 51mm precision basket will do just fine?

Can you please share what make you choose Hugh over the La Pavoni post-millennium? I hesitate pulling trigger on the La Pavoni as some (like 30% of the reviews) reported the basket does not fit perfectly
La pavoni ims does fit the picopresso but you cant close it completly. Still working and its sealed tight. I wouldnt use the basket with a machine. Also i wonder if the hugh fits better or if its the same as the ims. ☮️
The B602TH25 fits perfectly.

Like your picopresso vids and the experiments … was initially researching on the Flair Pro 2 but decided to start with a smaller device… waiting for my Picopresso to be delivered along with IMS basket & Nomcore puck screeen

I usually do 18g of coffee for 72g of water, and 20g for 80g of water. Just wasn’t sure if it was different for the HUGH basket. I’m definitely gonna get one! Thanks!
What are those tiny water jets as you are pressing around 4:58 to 5:17? Is it actually the hot water leaking out due to pressure or is that still coffee?
It’s not the hot water leaking out, it’s actually the coffee due to pressure

Should the base of the bottom of the basket be flat or is it slightly convex? In my set, the bottom of the basket is slightly convex, and when it is installed on the table, it may wobble a little, is this normal or is it a design defect?

@@user-zu4cq2zd9b yup, I tried the Hugh basket as in this video, this 51mm Hugh basket got a slight bigger capacity to hold more powder and at the same time it can hold the puck screens together to make a perfect espresso extraction

Ya you are right, I have try the original Wacaco tamper and it’s not fit with the Hugh ims basket.

@@jimc4587 mate have you got the la pavoni? Some said the original tamper will be slightly smaller and not fit perfectly. Debating between Hugh and la pavoni and would love to hear your thoughts.

Many said that changing ims basket not really make big difference, maybe the stock basket is actually not that bad overall, btw i still don't understand why they didnt make the basket with straight wall in design. I bet you are just waiting for the pressure gauge to complete the setup 😄
Absolutely I agreed what you said! I personally think it doesn’t making big difference but I prefer the straight wall design. Since then I found myself love the brown sugar espresso so much.
I use the ims screen too and it makes a difference imo . But you dont have to buy the bplus puck screen imo. A cheap one does the job. The amount of holes is lower than on a straight wall basket so its easier to build up pressure. If you change to straight wall and more holes you have to grind finer to get the same pressure.
Give a try with muscovado dark sugar.
@@ninetendopesaitama2107Makes sense now since I have the same K4, with factory filter, I can not go finer using even 60 clicks (factory tamp also), let alone Kvy's 54 clicks. So yes, I am getting the IMS hugh. LOL.

@@carlosvertigo thanks for the compliment! Ya I do believe the basket affects how much extraction occurs depends on the basket’s holes and the perforation technology. It is one of the factor, meanwhile it also depends on the water temperature, grind size, pressure and the way we tamping the coffee.
