    Hi Dan, I really like this. The final piece is wonderful but I also really like the effect at around 13.30, with all the stencils inserted in the 12 squares before you start applying the oil paint. Like someone else has already said, I think the images reflect my mood today. Thanks a million for posting this. Hugs for the 'Driftwood Dog!'

    • @DanTirels
      @DanTirels  3 года назад +2

      Thanks Martin, I wasn't sure how this one would turn out but it is a composition that I had planned to work on for a while, kind of reflects the current mood in the UK as we are now under lockdown once again (England is anyway) It is a technique that is great to experiment with because once you have cut the stencils you can explore other colours. Maybe as the mood is lifted I will reflect that in another work. Buzz is thriving in his new home, he's turned into a happy fun character just like his much missed big bro Ben.

    Dan, you might want to check your Xacto knife blade. You're exerting way too much pressure on those cardboard cutouts. I mean, yes, they are covered with packing tape, but still, a new sharp blade would cut through the tape and cardboard more easily I should think.

    • @DanTirels

    Once again excellent videos! I am totally new to monoprinting so I am really appreciating your channel.. Can you tell me approximately how long did it take you to complete this work of art? Sometimes we as viewers watch a video and results seem to become instantaneous. I know the is not the case with this one. Each square is an artwork in and of itself. Excellent way to tell a story.

    • @DanTirels
      @DanTirels  2 года назад +1

      There is a lot of editing involved in some of the videos, sometimes I complete them over a couple of days. I try not to film time lapse sequences as I think it is best to show the whole process in detail. I would estimate that the total production for this demo would be 7 hours. This would include sketching the idea and cutting the stencils, making the frame would be another hour. Editing the finished film can take over 2 hours.

    • @DanTirels
      @DanTirels  3 года назад +1

      I always like to make use of scrap materials or use anything that I have around. The stencils are cut from card that has parcel tape on both sides, they can be used many times, just wipe clean and use again. One of my demos shows how to do this.

    This would have been great if I can hear something.!!

      I try to avoid speaking as many people have found it distracting and as I only speak in English it would not work for those many viewers for whom this is not their first language. I am always happy to answer any questions but hope the demo videos are instructive and easy to follow.

    really not so “abstract”. You have captured something essential in each one. I have now watched about four of your videos, all tonight, or, that is, well into the early morning. Inspiring and sensitive work. Take good care of yourself.
    PS. what were your colours? It’s beautiful, deep work. 2023 edit: found the colours in the show notes.
