- Back in my 20s, I could sleep on a concrete floor. Now I have a very intense pillow system. Here's what you have to look forward to, kids. #marriedlife #parody #thisis40

When my husband was still alive, he would take this large firm pillow and replace himself with it when he got up for work like Indiana Jones with the bag of sand replacing the gold statue! I always sleep with my arm and leg on him, so he made me feel like he was still there with that pillow. We called it the Faux Joe. Gosh, I miss that man!
I’m very sorry for your loss
That is so sweet that he did that.
I can tell how much you miss him from that story. Any guy that would replace his body with a firm pillow EVERY morning because it brought his wife comfort as she slept, is a special guy. I can see why you'd miss him. That story was very special. 😊
What a sweet man he must have been. So sorry for your loss. xo
I'm so sorry for your loss!!! The little things are what we remember the most about our loved ones who have passed, I can tell by your comment that he loved you very much❤
“She calls me a night owl, I’m asleep by 10:30.” If that isn’t growing older, I don’t know what is!
Growing older: It's also when you can't eat after 5.
Kudos to Penn for hitting those high notes. Everyone should have seperate beds, haha
My husband thinks I’m insane because I have a hand pillow…thank you for spreading the word in support of pillow people like me!
My mom said she had a hand pillow too!! 😂 Some people just have needs, gotta do what you gotta do! 👍
On top or bottom? I mean, ik what a pillow is for, but I often pull one of them OVER my hand like a tiny, severely fluffy blanket.
I don't understand how you identify with EVERY part of my life so perfectly!
This must be why some married people sleep in separate beds/ rooms. You still love each other you just need your undisturbed sleep
Not many people can nail this song.
You did an awesome job!
I love how you can laugh at things in your relationship. Obviously the deep love between you overcomes any & all personality quirks
SAME KIM! I added pillows when I was pregnant 14 years ago and they never went away. When we bought our last bed hubby asked if we should just go to 2 beds 🤣
I mean.. Why the heck not? Just think about the extra spice that would add to a visit LOL
@@cspat1 Separate bedrooms
@@DA-wp2zu oops
Omg Kim and Penn this is so me with one exception, I am a major sleep walker, I do everything when I'm sleep walking and my husband tells me one of my favorite things to do is walk to his side of the bed, stand over him and snatch his one pillow right from under his head while he is sleeping and add it to my side of the bed!!! Lol!!! Love you guys 🤗
Does he call you scary?
He says is scares the you know what out of him, and then he calls me Samara from the movie, the ring!!! Lol!!!
Lol!
@@Sweet_Melissa22 he could of made jokes about Mel b being scary spice so he can't be a bad hubby.
@@paulwalton1222 lol!!!
Since my husband had to start using a CPAP and I'm a HSP, very light sleeper, overthinker, etc. we decided separate bedrooms was the way to go. Hasn't affected our marriage at all. In fact, doing this has probably saved it. 😄 Highly recommend.
We started sleeping in separate rooms 10 years ago. Neither of us were getting enough sleep. Now we are remodeling our home and I will finally get my own room and won't have to sleep in my kid's room. Thanks Hurricane Laura!
Have been in separate rooms for years..she would go up early and read until I came up..snore and wake up alone later..so I told her to stay comfy and i went to the spare room
It works
Yep he sleeps in the East wing, I sleep in the West wing. 10 years now. I'm dark, cold air fan and no t.v. room, he's balmy with T.V. on football, news whatever until after midnight
I have my multitude of pillows as well. I also learned that separate blankets for each of us helps with the middle cold spot and fighting over the blankets. Now we each have the kind of blanket we like best. Also have separate top sheet. That is how they do it in Europe.
Thank you Kim you have made me feel unashamed of my mountain of barrier pillows ❤
I love how much fun you guys seem to be having when filming this. It makes me smile even more than the song.
I absolutely love how Penn looks like he's going to bust out laughing at the beginning of each chorus! 😂 I relate way too much to Kim here, and am thinking I should post this if I decide to go on a dating app. I mean, I like to cuddle, but I'm SERIOUS about my sleep. (I need a minimum of 3 pillows. One firm, one squishy, and one flat. That's pretty much my only high maintenance quality. 😊😂) You guys knocked this one out of the park! 🎉
yeah that makes me nervous about dating again - "Um thanks, can you go sleep on the couch?"
Feeling this!! My husband has his phone on the lowest possible light setting and it still wakes me up, I have 4 strategically placed pillows, but thinking of upgrading the quality 😆 good quality sleep has become like the holy grail! This video cheered me up today, thanks 😊
Penn and Kim both look like they enjoyed making this video. Both so fun, and relatable!
Oh yeah! I’m up to 4 pillows in my 40s… I think I’ll just add one every decade😁 Thanks for this hilarious and VERY true video!💕
Yes, lots of pillows in the 40s now, especially between the knees. Started with pregnancy 15 years ago and gone up from there! Harder to get comfortable. Yoga and stretching helps but still need at least 3 or 4!
So relatable. I have to have three. One to prop my bad foot up, one for my head, and a small squishy pillow to hug at night. Also DANG YOU NAILED THOSE HIGH NOTES! Well done!😊
That's a lot of " pillows " talk.
Your family is very clever 😊
Can't wait to see what you stir up next
I used to watch this every night because for some odd reason it helped me sleep. And now that I’m watching it again after taking a break, it’s safe to say.. that’s the first time I laughed at the “and I’m TeRrIfiEd of ever making a sound” 🤣🤣
If F.O.M.S. Is her favorite video, this has to be her second favorite!
you know me well
@@theholdernessfamily @Shane -- that is EXACTLY what I thought, the moment I saw this video! Also, Kim and Penn, I just texted this video to my husband to show him "I"m not the only one" who builds a pillow fort and that yes, you are a night owl if you are on your bright devices at 10:30 (even 10, or, um 9:30)
I don't know why but this is one of the best parodies ever! I'm literally crying, it was so beautiful! Thank you! ❤️- Erica
You could have filmed this exact number at our house!! (only we are A LOT older!) Currently I sleep with 7 so you have me beat! My hubby of 46 years has been dealing with me and my pillows and my sleep habits for the entire marriage! Thanks for the very humorous (and truthful) video!! love it!!
So good…as always. And I love the loving chat afterwards!
I'm a nurse who has worked labor and delivery and hospice. In both cases, I have always pillowed my patients with like a 4 pillow minimum. Comfort is key
This is 100% accurate in my life, my husband makes fun of all my pillows on the regular. He knows he can’t use any of my pillows because they all have an important role to play in my sleep. 😋😉❤️
The older that I get, the more pillows I need. It started 30 years ago when I was pregnant with my first child. I needed extra pillows to support my huge belly, now it is all of my other aching body parts haha.
I highly recommend one of the U-shaped pregnancy pillows. It’s like sleeping in a little nest of pillows. And you don’t accidentally knock pillows off during the night.
I watched this and said SEE!! (To my hubby), I'm not the only one! So loved this and you guys are so cute and funny
That was greatness lol. Adele would love this! Hope she sees it. 😁😂
This is SO US! 🤣😂🤣😂🤣 I hate any light or sound when I am trying to sleep! I have even taken up wearing earplugs to try to drown out his snoring...
On a different note 🎵 We LOVE that you won the Amazing Race! You two are so fun, and am so proud of how you supported each other and built each other up during the whole race! You deserved to win!❤️😊💕👏👏🎊🎉 was so excited when I saw you in the beginning of the race, have loved your videos...good job! 💕
Keep making us laugh! 😂🤣
Kim you and Penn must have written this song for me- I can’t wait to show this to my husband
This reminded me I need to buy more pillows. Fantastic parody!
“How boring life would be if we married someone that is exactly the same as me.” Me.
I laughed so hard because it struck true for me. Especially the part of trying to kiss good night. Thanks for always making me smile.
Me: I miss the classic MTV with all the music videos.
Penn: Hold my video recorder!
‘I am a night owl who is asleep by 10:30!’ Made me laugh so hard! Greetings from a night owl still awake at 2 am local time!
I had nearly 7 pillows in bed. I am down to three. It is the funny comment of the feet touching! It helps to know others have gone through this! LOL!
I totally have a pillow system. Also I sleep in a giant bed alone that's full of fluffy pillows and blankets and plush and I can just hide and sleep. It's my favorite part of the day.
Yes!! Especially with the best sheets I've ever sleep in: MyPillow™ GIZA dream sheets😊😊. They're Perfect
It's the opposite for me & my husband. He's gotta have at least 4 pillows. In bed by 11 pm, semi dark room & light sleeper. As for me, I'm the night owl. Go to bed around daylight. I'm a stomach sleeper, so no pillow. Can sleep at any time of the day & I sleep like the dead. 😂
And I thought I was the only one! Eleven pillows and hubby sleeps in his own room at the other end of the house. The kitchen is just off the master bedroom so he's not allowed to be in there after 10 pm. But then we are in our late 60's. Love this video! LOL
We have separate rooms because of his snoring... saved my sanity! Only was for me to get any sleep 😪😌
@@MaryMary-pr4iu Me too. Started 10 years ago when I was pregnant with my 2nd. We are remodeling our home and soon I will have my own room! Can't wait!
Hilarious! You two bring so much joy to so many. God bless you, friends.
This is my wife encapsulated and I laughed so hard. I am definitely sharing this one with her!
Great - now I am going to have a song about pillows stuck in my head all day long.. just great.. really great. Okay - time to watch this again.. but really great.. just great.
OMG! I thought I was weird for having a ‘sound barrier’ pillow because my husband SNORES. Yeah! I’m not alone!
My husband and I each have three pillows, plus 2 travel pillows that go to whomever grabs them first. We have a California King size bed so there's plenty of room. Yes, my pillow craze started with support for injury, then pregnancy, then age. Husband's started with after-surgery support. Nothing wrong with pillows!
I'm glad my wife doesn't pillow barrier me, but I generally get told not to snuggle!
Can I borrow you some time?
This is so hilarious and well done! My hubby showed me this video because it describes him and his 7 pillows perfectly!!
My husband sent this to me....I feel attacked 😆 I love my pregnancy pillow with both side pillows. Has the same effect...you are met with comfort no matter the side 🤣🤣
I have six pillows--two for my head--one to plunk my laptop on-one for my neck and another for between my knees. The sixth pillow if for my cat who likes to sleep next to my head. She has her own sets of pillowcases--mostly vintage that I buy on Etsy or eBay. Okay, I'll leave the room now.
My kitty has her own too! Although, she hasn't used it in like, 5 years, but I keep it for her just in case! 💖
This is us! 😂 My husband complains about my ridiculous amount of pillows, I also have insomnia and anxiety. And if I get woken up, which is EXTREMELY easy because I'm such a light sleeper, then I'm up and can't go back to sleep. Which is actually why I am up watching this video right now 😅 the only difference is I'm the night owl, not him and instead of snoring, my husband talks in his sleep.
Hubs and I have the same pillow barrier if one of us is awake on a device! How funny!
I have one pillow for my knees, and I gave up on a pillow for my head and neck. Bought tons, some very expensive ones too. None of them were comfortable. I now use a wadded up fleece blanket. I can poke it and squish it into whatever position I need it to be in. The cat likes the excess blanket that sticks out because she curls up in that every night and sleeps by my head.
This song makes me respect your voice. They're all good, but this is exeptional!
Lol! So me. I used to just sleep with one. Now in my 40's, I need 4 or 5 pillows to be comfortable. One under my head, one behind me, and two in front of me so I can rest my arm on one and hand on another. And occasionally one between my knees or under my knees! The system is very specific! 😂
I’ve never been able to relate to a video more than this one. It’s like I turned 40 and put up a pillow wall🤣
Y’all make me pee my pants laughing! 😂😂😂 (Yep! I guess according to your daughter I’m old since I still use the laughing emoji! No 💀 for me!) My long time boyfriend and I completely relate to you twos relationship. Minus the kids! (Wish we had some just not in the cards.) This pillow parody to Adele just hit way to close to home! 😂 Blake teases me about how much I love pillows! Pillows all the time! 😂 You guys are greatness! Keep up the good work! 😁
“She calls me a night owl ... I’m asleep by 10:30. Is that normal?” 😂😂🤭🤭😂😂
I thought it was just my wife! Lol
I love how Kim is wearing her FOMS shirt. So appropriate! Lol
Omg, are you videotaping my husband and I!
This is soooooo true! Spot on 👍 hysterical 😂
We love Fridays because you release new videos, guys! You are incredible ❤ Much love from the Netherlands ❤ 🙏 🌏 🇳🇱
Thanks for being here with us!
I only need one pillow, my husband uses two and I’ll frequently wake up to one of his pillows making a barrier between us or poking me in the eye.
Pillows are a thing at our house too. You all are great! Keep those videos coming!
Good to know I am not the only person! Pillow over my eyes is my JAM…my JIMMY JAM!
So funny! You guys are hilarious, thanks for bringing the laughter. I do have to say that SLEEP HEADPHONES are a lifesaver for those of us with snoring spouses-SERIOUSLY!!
My husband is with all the pillows! And he's the night owl with his laptop and he snores. Ha ha
I bought a white noise machine from Amazon where you can choose from about 40 sounds. It has a more random pattern and if it detects noise, its volume increases slightly to drown it out. I am addicted. I travel with the thing. If my kids come in the room in the middle of the night, they don't even have to say anything to wake me up, just stare for a bit. Light sleepers gotta do what they gotta do to get some sleep! My husband on the other hand can sleep through anything. Once I almost rolled him out of bed trying to get him to stop snoring and he never knew it. Awesome pillow fort. 😄
OMG my husband showed this to me! It's so me!!!! I often felt like i was the only one. I have a bad back, bag hips, had shoulder surgery and i have to have tons of pillows now. This is exactly how it is in our bed! LOL> glad i'm not the only one so thanks for sharing such a cute but true video :)
It's amazing how you can transform tunes to be so humourous!!
This is my life! If I don’t fall asleep by 9 I will be awake until 4am. You keep those pillows Kim❣️
I love this song, it’s to funny. 😂
But I can totally relate, I cannot sleep with my body pillow which I have between my arms and legs. F.O.M.S
Yes, Kim described me! I think I even have one of the same pillows. Thank you for taking away my pillow shame!🤣🤣🤣
I usually just sleep with my back to my husband if he's up late on his laptop. However the rule is that after midnight he has to either go to sleep or leave the room! Usually by then he's also sleeping but on occasion if he's super into his project he'll leave and work at his desk.
Yup - totally have a bank of pillows. However - with hot flashes - isocool pillows have been amazing.
Went all the way and got the Eight Sleep. Cooling pillows are one thing; a water-cooled bed is GAME CHANGING.
Wait...water cooling bed??? Can you tell me more? Recommend a specific brand?

Yes, I have a pillow on each side, one under my head and one on my stomach All the same reasons! God bless you guys are amazing
I haven’t watch this for a while and you guys are still doing good keep up the good work
I am so the same with my pillows! Same places, same number same reasons why! 😂
This is my husband and I perfectly!!! I have so many pillows that protect me !! Love this
And the pillows have IDs. The one for the legs/stomach cannot be switched with one of the others. The order is very important. And if you forget one of them when going to a hotel... The horror!! There will be no sleeping tonight! Nor any other night until the pillows are restored! Y'all are great. I died laughing watching this. But seriously, it is a thing. That's why my wife and I exchanged our queen bed years ago for a king. Had to make room for the pillows. I think women have an extra sense that lies dormant until they have children. This extra sense enhances all other senses, but especially smell (in case the house is on fire and her children are going to become charcoal briquettes) and hearing (because inevitably one of the children is going to try dying and the faintest sound of that dying attempt must be heard at subsonic frequencies while sound asleep and while the husband is snoring like a freight train. This extraordinary ability, unfortunately, remains throughout her life, even when her children are grown and gone, because she must be able to hear their cries 2200 miles away just in case they need her. Consequently, she must build a haven of comfort around her to combat this sense just so she can get a few minutes of sleep. My wife is awesome. She has many, many pillows.
My husband is the one with three different pillows to my one but my weighted blanket serves as my barrier lol
I have had four pillows I use since I was a teen. Two flattish pillows for my head. A fluffy arm pillow that I also used to rest my head, and one super flat pillow for my legs. It difficult to sleep with any missing
I’m dying!! 😂 I sleep with so many pillows! My poor guy!
I actually just read a study that four pillows is the ideal for a side sleeper😂. Sorry, Penn. Sleep is very very important. And even the light from well, anything. The lights from the TV, not even when it’s on, mind you, a sliver of light, anything, so Kim, I know exactly what you are talking about. Snoring? Murder in my heart. We’ve been married for 40 years.
Thank you so much. Looks like you two had a great time with this one. Kim loves soo many pillows and Penn loves Kim . Thank you for explaining why sometimes the great pillow monster throws up in people's rooms. 🎊🎉🤗🤗
Totally! I am constantly shocked how a family in another country thousands of miles from us (we are in Toronto) actually has the exact same culture and family stuff…right down to the pillows! And if I don’t have my pillows…I need the gravol. From one light sleeper to another, I’m glad to know I’m not alone (and you are so cool too!;)
I’ve never felt so understood before. Yes Kim! Pillows to the left and pillows to the right. I can’t sleep without them and if we travel I get nervous there won’t be enough pillows.
Early Arthritis, Weather Change and Humidity/Wind Chill are MORE than enough of a reason.
This was so amazing my mom does this.
My DH is the one with all the pillows who builds the fort! lol
I'm the night owl, but require more pillows than I used to, especially my leg pillow. I am cold natured going to sleep, but usually wake up hot. My partner is an early riser, and he will do a "pillow swap" for me to refresh my leg pillow with a cool one when he get gets up 🥰 feels great!
That shirt says " FOMS - Fear Of Missing Sleep" 😄
Yep... the hubs sent me this laughing at how true it is for me. I'm sure he's going to be singing this song as we go to bed tonight!
OMG! That is our bed. I have at least 3 pillows just for me and I don’t want any light. Great video as usual.
Another great video! Have you tried a weighted blanket? Like an all-night hug that doesn't move, snore, or overheat!
Oh yes, I love my weighted blanket too.
I have one gel pillow that can basically be formed into any shape, but mainly it is formed in a mound for my neck and a divot under my ear to remove pressure :) I need hubby snuggled!
Best song of the whole year..
I feel the sound and light thing so hard! I'm a light sleeper, and anything And everything wakes me up.
Lol, I so relate. I have 2 pillows under my head (at least) and 1 in each side - my "body guards", except when my hubby is with me.
I can so relate to this! In fact, I now use a comforter folded up as a pillow because for several years I couldn't find a pillow that didn't hurt my neck. The comforter is perfect and very adjustable, plus I fold it so I have the top layer to cover my eyes at night. Then I have a pillow to support my tummy, one for the legs, one for my arm when I'm on my side, and another between my hubby and I that I shove behind him to keep him on his side so he doesn't snore. And DO NOT wake me up in the middle of the night! It takes 3-4 hours to get back to sleep. Getting old sucks.
