Mad Mike Gone Mad with RX7 4 rotor Monster with Ryuji Miki tagging along with a 2Jz Supra in Formula Drift THAILAND 2009. This is what I call entertainment!
Mazda RX7 is the king of drift, not to mention that this roar is a wonderful symphony.
This 4 rotor RX-7 is definitely one of the best looking, best sounding drift cars ever made! Watched him stuff it into a wall at terminal island in Long Beach a couple of years ago...

Due to tears in my eyes caused by the beautiful engine sound. I didnt even notice he was driving with one hand out, basicly the whole run. Untill like, third time i watched it :D Gotta love Rotary's, and gotta love a kiwi who can use it like that :p

@Brokendreamcast no, the r26b does not have competition because it was banned to use in comps. the 20b is perfect for drifting and provides enough power to keep up with almost anything in competition...
and for mad mike, that things just sick
to both, mad mike is THE BEST at drifting, he knows what he is doing, he is hitting the car hard with full control, this was a demo run, not a regulation battle race or whatever, just two good drifters drifting the fuck out of the cars
He's not called Mad Mike for nothin'. Dude's awesomely insane.

i love how 2jz's sound with a huge turbo etc and there one of my dream cars, but this 4 rotor just puts it to shame! and i would take it over a supra any day then buy a supra down the road to add onto my collection with my evo :)

@Tj1056 it will probably be a lot more than that considering most 20b bp or pp rotaries cost that much to drop in and more than likely a custom e-shaft because the 4 rotor was never "produced" commercially. the only ones i can think of are this car, the scoot 4 rotor, and the 787b's
@Fallingup899 The fuel cell size is regulated, just like everything else. Theres good reason they use piston engines, it is so all the technology filters down to the consumer level. Tyres are a great example of this.
what camcorder are you using to record this? Also what computer and editing software are you using?

It doesn't, "weighs as much as a shoe" is what's called an "idiom", it's basically a figurative meaning such as "hard as nails", "light as a feather" or "fast as lightning". The point being was that due to the way rotary engines work a 2.6 quad rotor is technically equivalent to a 5.2 V12 but much lighter hence why it helped the RX7 own the Supra.

@Fallingup899 No they wouldn't have because it chews fuel waaay harder than any tuned v6/v8 currently used in F1.

@Fallingup899 Oh Im sure they can afford to fuel it, I just meant that you would be having pit stops far more often so that would cause the piston motors to beat you, you might lap them all initially, but then they pass you when you pit 25% more often.

Not surprising really, the R26B is an insane engine, effectively 5.2L and weighs as much as a shoe :)

ryuji miki is a past D1GP champ in japan. he tried drifting overseas, but the cars he's used have never really been good. that supra was heaps heavy. compare it to orido's 2010 drift supra and you'll see the difference. both drivers are good so thumb's up to both of em

omg the 4 rotor sounds amazing... I think Ill build me a 4 rotor but bridgeport with either a gt45/47/55/60r.... not sure yet tho haha... be something like $700 for the brideport housing... $500 for the plates... $500 for balanced milled lightweight rotors, $10,000 for E shaft... and then the rest of the stuff around another $1000-1,500, then about another $4000 for turbo kit and about $1000 in tuning haha... then to drop it in need a subframe another $2000 so like $25,000 have a fast track car
