A friend in high school threw me a wedding shower at her home. Her family had a grandfather clock in the foyer. They took it right before the Nazis took over Germany. It was museum quality. HUGE!!!! It had multiple dials, ships, constellations, ect. I was spellbound looking at it. I’m 70. I still remember it. ❤❤❤❤
I absolutely love the consignment and thrift store tours when you are in Germany! All the treasures are so beautiful! The V-B Iris pattern looks so modern considering its age.
The furniture! I'd break out in a rash and worse seeing those magnificent pieces at such surprising prices and not being able to take them ALL home with me. Thank you for taking us to a veritable wonderland for those who appreciate exquisite china, crystal, glass and fine treasures.
Always a delight to watch your videos. I left Germany when I was 21 and since my parents passed away I have not been back. So you are filling the void, taking us to the right places. Vielen Dank!
As a LLadro collector, thank you for showing the piece you found today. I've found my pieces in thrift and antique shops, flea markets and most recently I successfully bid on several lots in an online auction. I've never paid very high prices and have saved/rescued pieces from sellers who really aren't aware of what they are. To think that my collection started about 3 years ago with a small hissing goose to now almost needing another display cabinet! I look forward to your videos! S.
Two of my favorite things: Nativity pieces and Lladro! Wow! I collect Nativities when I can find them at my local thrift, and I am not opposed to purchasing an occasional "odd" piece. I hope one day to have gathered enough "orphans" to put together a miss matched Nativity display. (Edit; otherwise, those beautiful "orphan" pieces might end up in the landfill!)
I absolutely love sharing tablescapes. YT does not share my videos when I create tablesettings. I try and incorporate seasonal settings when shopping antique and resale.
What a lovely store with exquisite items. You are so blessed to be able to shop this store. That light green cut to clear vase is gorgeous and would look perfect with my mom's dishes. I really enjoy seeing all these gorgeous items when you take us along with you on your shopping trips. Thank you so much and I hope you had a wonderful time in Germany.
Thank you for taking us on a “foreign” shopping trip. I have never traveled, and only been on a plane twice, both times involving going to hospitals. It is so refreshing to see so many beautiful things.
Wonderful store; thank you for taking us along! I loved the two beautiful cabinets you showed us. Europeans made such beautiful furniture. I'm usually not one for chenoiserie but the Ming chenoiserie was stunning - I would buy those pieces in a heartbeat! Loved the cut glass piece too. Great video Lady Mary Beth!
Danke
So proud you showed an Elsassian plate ❤ wie zu Hause ! Beautiful pieces. Such French items in that shop . Thanks for sharing. Dominique die Elsasserin
Ohhhhh! I have fallen in love with that shop, and with the Iris pattern. You can tell just by the design in the plate that it is old. I am hoping you have a set of the Iris pattern, it is so beautifully organic and natural looking. Thank you so much for sharing all of this with us.
I was very fortunate to inherit a mid century mantel clock from my aunt. Luckily before she passed she located the winding key for it. It has a beautiful chime. I also wore one of her aurora borealis glass cut necklaces to church today.
You're German is impeccable. My college German professor had spent the summer before my freshman year in West Germany at the time and one evening someone thought she actress German instead of American. She was so proud of the compliment.
Hey Lady Mary Beth I hope this is a fun story for you the Sheffield bone handled knives I have six of them and they were my mother's and they were her great aunts she was a furrier for the Royals in England
Dear Lady Mary Beth: sorry I missed you again. Just came back from Barcelona and Rammstein. As we chatted before, I hope for us to meet in Metz someday! ❤ Tschüss; Cindy PS: The video was wonderful as always. Thank you!
It is amazing the old Brown transferware has survived. Not sure if older than German Empire but considering the destruction of the country in 1939-45 war that it wasn't destroyed.
My brother-in-law traveled all over the world for much of his business career. Whenever I asked him about my sister traveling with him and perhaps bring some furniture home if she discovered something she wanted he would emphasize how VERY expensive it was to ship large pieces to the states from anywhere. She has had beautiful homes both architecturally and tasteful interior decor all her married life so sh3 never felt she lacked anything. When you highlight stunning pieces I can’t help but wonder if the situation regarding the costs of shipping is worse now or perhaps improved since so many years ago. In recent years I have met young military couples stationed in Germany who bought many lovely pieces of furniture and shipped them home when they come home stateside. Evidently the costs for military personnel is one of the important perks they have for serving overseas. There are so many amazing pieces, how could anyone afford to ship them?
Do you mean the prices? I mention several items with US dollar equivalent. Add about 10% to the Euros for an approximate currency conversion. 100 Euros is about $110. Prices are good!
Surprisingly, I do not find RS Prussia in our area. Could be because the factory was further East. The Saarland has the local Villeroy & Boch and Bavarian china is also plentiful.
I noticed the prices were listed with a comma instead of a period sign . I took most prices to be in the thousands instead of a few dollars. Was I wrong?

Made in 1926, the pattern was witness to a dark history.

Hi Mary Beth , that cabinet with the porcelain lamps inside, was very beautiful. Amazing. Was it English?
It's probably a French cabinet. This shop is a short drive to France and I doubt someone would have imported from England.

Ugh Germany, knew something was up.
Well, that intro was easy for you to say! 😅

A comma is used where we would use a period. For example, €5,20 is five Euros and 20 cents, just under U.S $6.00. Prices were good here.
In the future, could you please translate the euros to dollars?!
I mentioned several items in dollars. Add 10% and it’s about equal to U.S. dollars.
