Working on a black and grey American traditional sleeve myself, I only have one tattoo so far, but you inspire me to finish mine! Your sleeves are SICK!
@@collin833 I've got two tattoos now! Just got an American traditional dragon on my lower arm and it's awesome! Kind of wish it was faced a different direction but I still love it!
I'm brown (South Asian), but I was born in America. I love American traditional tattoo style. So aesthetically pleasing. I've mostly seen these type of tattoos on Caucasians. Would it be weird if I got one as a brown person? I mean I don't know the total history of traditional tattoos like if there's racism behind it?
No traditional tattoos look great on dark skin they are bold and they’ll last ! Nah, I'm Indian (born in the UK) and I'm quite fair and light skinned. I've got a few traditional dtyle tattoos amongst a bunch of others including Japanese and realism etc. Traditional isn't only limited to white people. It looks cool AF and the style has been around for 100 years or so. Go for it, pick some flash and get it done.
I’m black and do only line work and wood cut traditional tattoos. Trad on darker skin looks great and you can see em from a far due to the beautiful contrast with the bold lines. I think it’s the best style for legibility . Tried shading on my body and dot work. It’s not as legible on me but it also deals with undertone so many are different
Some artists don’t know how to tattoo traditional on POC skin so make sure you just find a knowledgeable artist who will do the best job to make sure the colours pop out! more artists are becoming aware of that stuff nowadays thankfully
Interesting video. It's strange to me that other countries have this style of traditional tattoo. Usually "american traditional" has a very limited color palette, it looks like some of yours have a little more color options in them. Not saying it's a good or bad thing just an observation.
Old school tattoos back in the day only really had three color options. Some artists still go by that but most spice it up a bit. Even sailor jerry was experimenting with purple and watering down the colors like they do in Japanese styles.
@@casonburns4840 please do not spread misinformation. It’s hard to say really! I think it’s best to wait until you’re certain on what you want or you could potentially get two small ones where you can hide them maybe upper thighs in colour and black and grey to see which one you’re leaning more to!
How about half and half? Like literally dedicate half your body to a style. Do half your body traditional and half your body realism. That's what I think I might do in the future, and if you photoshop on your skin just to see it looks pretty badass and it's unique. It's a mix of the past and the present. It looks so cool.
To me color like Neo traditional or surrealism gives a nice look, black and gray is okay but color gives more life to tattoos, I also have to point out that it hurts like a motherfucker but it’s worth it
Just stumbled apoon your video your puma/panther head with the dagger through it is sick! I have one but with a wolf head in the traditonal style on my forearm
Thank you very much, I don’t see a problem personally, people have entirely traditional body suits and then there’s people who have tattoos of all different styles! So long as you don’t think you’ll be bothered by it, other than that I wouldn’t worry!

@@crucialexecutioner69 IMO since everyone's got a different perception of pain, it really depends on the individual. OF COURSE it hurts on some level, you're getting stabbed with tiny needles. But if the pain is really low on your personal scala then you're gonna say that it doesn't. I always say that it feels like using an epilator. If you've never done that, try plucking out i. e. your arm hair with tweezers over and over again. It's a light pinch but to me the pain is totally fine. I wouldn't say it's painful on my scala. Sugar waxing my crotch is what I'd consider painful. But as I've said before, the perception of pain totally depends on the individual.
