What I noticed about Gen 9 designs is the artist really decided to make weird frightening "monsters" and some cute mons. Many will say "they do not look like Pokemon" but many seem to forget that Pokemon are monsters..."pocket monsters". Flamigo though it's just a flamingo, in the wild it is not an amigo. The damn thing chases you and its squawk is terrifying.

But the appeal of pokemon over the other monsters has always been they look more realistic than digimons and the others

One thing I will say about Arbolivia is that when it’s in battle, it holds its long leafy arms over its head to form a leafy circle around it, and I think it looks great

When you do end up getting a Kingambit (Bisharp evo), you’ll see the thing it sits on doesn’t float, but instead is used to zoom around whilst Kingambit screams in either joy or unparalleled terror. It genuinely made the effort of evolving it worth it, I ended up laughing for ages whilst it had the zoomies 😂

I tryed hard not to be spoiled on the new game so the new Tentacool got me without warning and I laughed my ass off. I could sit here and watch this things running around all day, it just looks so stupid 😂

The Salamence Paradox form makes me happy that they kinda acknowledged Mega evolution, I miss my flying Crossaint

Honestly I love Meowscarada! It could have looked a lot worse, but I still think it's a well designed starter overall.
And no, I do not care that it turned from a cute cat into bipedal humanoid cat, frankly that starter trend has never bothered me in the slightest

I've grown attached to mine after having a made-up dramatic story. Plus, I named her after my cat, it was nice.

I think flogarato and grovyle are the best starter middle evolutions and meowscarada is one of my favourite starters

Yup. Bipedal mons were there from gen 1 and they were hit. Everyone loved them. A couple of them were a miss recently and now suddenly everyone hates the entire bipedal thing.
The bipedal starter hate is completely unjustified cause everyone was upset that incineroar was a bipedal final stage however its entire gimic is that its a heel turn wrestler so it being bipedal makes sense
@@lordmewthree7989 People whine about fire/fighting being overplayed but 4 water and 4 grass starters didn't even change their types till the end. We also had 4 cases of a quad poké changing to a bipedal (Tepig, Fenniken, Litten, weed cat) which is absolutely nothing considering that aside from Snivy losing all its limbs and Oshawott going quad, they stayed whatever they were.
I like memeing stuff, but the poké fandom really has the bad habit of taking things that aren't problems but funny "haha 3 gens of fire fighting" and then completely overexaggerating and acting like it's some design issue with them.
The bipedal thing also seems to be mostly rooted in some weird hatred of Incineroar by a part of the fanbase and basically nothing else.
Unpopular opinion: I love Dudunsparce, it has such a funny concept behind its somewhat underwhelming design. It has an awesome STAB move Hyper Drill which works through Protect!

It's underwhelming but I'm interpreting it as a build up. I have a feeling when it'll get a final evo at some point that'll be absolutely awesome.
Gamefreak knew how much he needed an evo and I think deliberately made it underwhelming as a nod to the community but probably to also build up to a grand finale.

Maybe but this is not how u do justice to a Pokemon who needed an evolution. Sirfetch'd, Kingambit, Farigiraf, Annihalape, Obstagoon and Cursola were far better in execution than this lackluster evo

Honestly, Dudunsparce is awesome. Like, when it comes to Dunsparce's appearance, there wasn't anything that really needed improving, it was always just the stats. And judging by how Dudunsparce looks, I feel like GameFreak must agree with me on that!
Dunsparce is perfection and therefore cannot be improved.

Spidops might be based off of an Ogre-Faced Spider, so the whole odd look it's got going on kinda suits it well.

I personally loved Meowscarada. I mean it has a scarf that pretty much made it perfect for me, I love scarfs.
I love it, does it suck it stood up? Sure, but still a fun pokemon

Seriously though why do people hate that a Pokemon stands up so much. That is something i will never understand when a lot of the most popular Pokemon including the ones that people feel identified with stand on two legs. Its the most ridiculous complaint ive ever withnessed on any game ive played. That is like if a Digimon fan said Renamon is a dumb piece of shit because it stands up, like wtf.
Ok, John, you know more about competitive which uses double battles. Try using Dondozo and Tatsugiri in a double battle together, it gets crazy. Also, there’s three different Tatsugiri that interact with Dondozo differently and I think they’re gonna be pretty decent in competitive at the very least
Personally I love Glimmet. Also the poison and fire type Pokémon of this generation were great
I just noticed that Maraidon is Pokemon number 999. Gen 10's grass starter will probably be really memorable then
Actually.... we reache the pokemon #1010 ... Miraidon is not the last in the pokedex... Tinkatink is the #1000-#1002, then Charcadet's line (#1003-#1005), then the grass Tentacool (which he forgot to mention)(#1006-#1007) and the last mons are Kingambit (#1008), Clodsire (#1009) and Anihilape (#1010)

As someone who's been a Dunsparce stan since Silver, I actually love Dudunsparce. I was always worried that I love Dunsparce too much that I wouldn't like his eventual evolution, but the fact they just took Dunsparce and made it MORE Dunsparce is absolutely perfect for his evo, imho.

Here’s a tip: if you want Armarouge/Ceruledge early, you can get past the fire team star segment of the game to reach the city you get the evolution item, you can also do this before upgrading The legendary. Just go along the river next to the pokécentre (probably spelled that wrong) until you see a shallow portion in the other side, then get to the very edge of the ground and jump, if you time it right, you can get past the team star barrier without defeating the fire leader. Then head up to the city (I forgot the name) not the first one you see though, go through that city to the next one, there is a man who will trade you the armour you need to evolve your charcedet (depending on version) you need to give him 10 bronzor fragments in scarlet and 10 sinistea fragments in violet. then talk to him, trade, then use the armour to get your own Armarouge or Ceruledge. Hope this helped!

So palafin a reference to superman, his design, his ability change forms by being switch out like how clark kent goes away and changes to superman, and the level that he evolves is actually a reference to "detective comics n°38" which was supermans first appereance

Legendary names are Ko and Mi followed by 'raidon' pronounced "Ride-On". The joke is that you ride on the Pokemon, so the last part of their name is literally just that
As a japanese person, this made me chuckle.
It's probably intended, but their names are literally "korai" (ancient) "don" (dinosaur suffix) and "Mirai" (future) "don" (again, dinosaur suffix), and I just took it as that and never noticed that they probably intentionally also put ride/ride on/etc. into the name for english audiences since they nearly never translate legendary names.
Houndstone really has saved my backside in the game more than few times with its signature move... Especially with the Ground Giant.
Also to evolve Gimmeghoul you need 999 Gimmighoul Coins. ...So... Hope you like hunting down Gimmighouls.
Not me being completely disappointed with the starter evolutions, to meowscarda now becoming one of my ultimate favorite starters.
Dandozo is like the 3rd evolution of whishcash.
I saw Dondozo more like a cross between a catfish and Pufferfish (deflated) but could definitely see it is as an Evo for Whiscash

This is the best generation of new pokemon in a LONG while, but the developers seriously trolled us with the dunsparce evolution.
Grafaiai is such a dope Pokemon! You have no idea! It has so much going for it like the hoodie like design on its fur, the face looking like goggles and a safety mask and the typing is so fun!

Can someone explain to me why a Shrew evolves into a Lemur, tho? Like, Remoraid and Octillery had the gun-cannon theme going more emphasized by their beta designs, but I just deadass am confused by a shrew with a mask evolving into a gangster tagger lemur.

Meowscarada is awesome! It's a smug cat phantom thief! I named mine Morgana. Plus, it's stats, Hidden Ability, and signature move make it by far my favorite of the starters.

Frankly, as far as the starters final evos, Meowscarada is the best one. It’s the fastest and it has the best signature move.
Sprigatito is NOT bad. Thats just not a bad design.
I think paldan Wooper's evolution is supposed to be a nod to Beta Wooper's design.

That Volcarona mecha form reminds me of the Ouroboros Albert Model W final boss fight in Rockman ZX Advent.
One thing I love about PM7 is he talks about the good of scarlet and violet, I feel his audience is toward younger people but I still feel he keeps it real and true to who he is as someone who is 24, but back to SV, yes it has flaws most specifically certain graphics / glitches, but it’s great seeing a RUclipsr talking good about SV rather than poketubers who only talk about the same 2-3 flaws with the game.
I'm so with you on Annihilape, pretty much my favorite pokemon now.
I love Annihilape. His stats are also very good and his design is awesome.
Fun fact about Dolphin's evo. It has two forms. The form you normally see it in is not the Super Hero form, but, rather, it's a form that, at first glance, looks like the pre-evolution, but, it has a heart on it's chest. It has the ability "Zero to Hero", and during combat, when you SWITCH IT OUT, it will transform, meaning once you send it back in, it will be in it's hero form AND have those high stats, otherwise it's stats in its "Zero" form are more like it's pre-evolution. Kinda like how in the old days, Superman, as Clark Kent, would be on scene of something going down, and would duck into a phone booth to change clothes, the idea of switching the dolphin out to change into it's Superhero costume basically calls back to things like that. It's also a Citizen (get it? Finizen, Citizen?) that becomes a hero through the power of friendship (not joking, you have to be in a union circle for it to evolve once it hits a certain level, otherwise, it will NEVER evolve), it's name also seems to show this, as it is everyone's PAL (with a fin).
Love the German name, Delfinator. lol
The idea of changing form comes from boto, a dolphin from south america that changes to a human form to chase women.

Idk, maybe it’s because I don’t really like the color red (did as a kid and now I really don’t) or the fact that I feel like he’s overhyped, but I don’t really like fuecoco and it’s line that much. He’s honestly my least favorite starter out of the three. There’s honestly so much worse than him in the fire starters, (and the fact that naturally I don’t really like the fire starters)
I’d honestly put Sprigatito on the top. Perhaps he stands on two legs but I’ve never seen something wrong with that. Pokémon aren’t supposed to JUST look like cute animals.
But yeah, I prefer Sprigatito, than Quaxly, then fuecoco. Idk. Fuecoco is just not my thing I guess
I was hoping for Sprigatito to stay on four legs but then Meowscarada happened and I LOVE it. Honestly Floragato is probably the best middle evolution of any starter for me. Meowscarada is incredible and anyone who says otherwise is a butthead.

I didn't like Meowscarada at first but I really grew to love it during my playthrough. Easily my favorite new starter
The fish legendary has a really nice looking blue shiny form. I hope they do events to distribute shiny ruins Pokémon because I would love to have one

Kyurem has existed since 2010 brodi, but yes Grass/Fire, Poison/Steel, Fairy/Fighting and Ground/Fighting are all awesome combos I'm glad we have

For me, Ceruledge and Armorouge are easily one of the best designed Pokémon EVER!!! Like seriously I don’t care if “ThEY DOn’T LoOK LiKe PokEMon” cause 1. They look awesome and 2. They’re both really good in battle.

I love Tandemaus and Maushold because it's so simplistic that it works. The designers must have heard how people call some of their designs boring, or simple and went all out with one of the most simplistic Pokémon designs ever; two nearly identical mice that looks like they were designed by an 8-year-old.
I also love how they'll evolve on their own, like it won't even show the evolution screen if it isn't first in your party, it will just become a Maushold when it gets to the right level. It's a nice nod to Pokémon breeding where the breeders just say that they find eggs with your Pokémon, and they don't know how it happened. Maushold basically implies Tandemause got jiggy with it in your party.

I picked Fuecoco as my starter (named him Jalapeno), and honestly, I didn't like the middle evolution at first. My initial reaction was "God dammit, it's getting the Tepig treatment. Shit!" (I hate Pignite and Emboar very much). However, the longer I stared at it, the more it grew on me. Now, my boy Jalapeno is fully evolved, and I love him so much. He's the favorite child of my team (a very close second is Cookie the Dachsbun, she's my good girl), and he kinda acts like my trump card. The amount of times I've been in a tough spot and sent Jalapeno out, only for him to handle the situation with ease, is amazing. I love my fire croc so much.
I hate you Pignite and Emboar haters.

This gen has such a good selection of Pokemon, I love almost all of these mons and I'm so excited to use all of them!

Wow I really love a majority of these designs. The only ones I didn't care for was the triple mice thing, couple of the robots and the Dunsparce evolution. (Disapointed) A big step up from last generations designs.

Dachsbun was the perfect opportunity to be the first Fire-Fairy type Pokémon.

I actually kinda like meowscarada design, idk why but it remind me less of Delphox but more of decidueye.
I personally think you will change your opinion on half these mons when you will have them in game. Meowscarada is by far the most interesting starter, giving Persona 5 Joker vibes all over.

@@yukitaro6155 I love Meowscarada, but I'm not exactly sure if it's the best in terms of types. Speaking just numbers, Skeledirge has 5 weaknesses to 7 resistances + 2 immunities, compared to Meowscarada's 7 weaknesses to 6 resistances + 1 immunity

How to evolve Gimmighoul into Gholdengoh:
You know those roaming form Gimmighoul that you can interact with and get their coins? You need 999 of those coins, and then once you have the needed number of coins, upon leveling up your Gimmighoul will evolve into Gholdengoh.

I love everything about the Fuecoco line.
The hat on Crocalor is not made of fire entirely, but marigolds that surround a fire egg.
Skeledirge's name comes from skeleton of course, and dirge, which is a lament of the dead. The firebird on his nose is FROM the fire egg that was on Crocalor's head, and gained a soul upon Crocalor evolving. Skeledirge's mouth is not encased in flames, but marigolds as well, which are often seen as a guide for spirits to find their families' offrendas. IT'S. SO. SPANISH. Like. Just. EVERYTHING ABOUT IT. Even the name dirge comes from more religious based background, but why is religion so big in both Mexico and Spain? Because of the Spanish Inquisition. I love it.
Could the bird also be a Alebrije? A folklore creature that acts as guides and come in many different animals?
@@crcoghill I think the entire design could be based on an alebrije but the bird itself is based on Plover birds who have a symbiotic relationship with Egyptian Crocodiles

I caught a shiny Jumpluff in Scarlet 20 min ago.
I love the names of the Nacl line, especially the first one. You can basically call Nacl... Salt. Thus we now have a pokemon called "Salti"
Besides Sprigatito line, Tinkaton is my favorite pokemon in gen 9. It is so amazing to watch battle :3

Wait...They actually made a chili-Pokemon for grass & fire? I honestly didn't expect that. I knew that it was a popular theory among the fans, but I didn't expect Gamefreak to actually put one into the games. So far, the designs don't seem to be bad. Some are still boring, but you have those in every generation. At least it seems to be better than gen 8, although that's not saying much, because it's my least favourite generation in terms of Pokemon-designs.
KO-RAY-DON?! Do you pronounce Pikachu's evolution as Ray-chu? No! It's RYE-chu, so it's Ko-rye-don and Mi-rye-don. Both pretty much end with Rhydon. Yet you still say 'Fan-fy' instead of Fan-py...
