Wonderful film, I watch it once or twice every year. Hal Needham also directed a film with Burt Reynolds called "THE CANNONBALL RUN" (1981) that is one of the most amazing ensemble comedies ever filmed. The cast will blow your mind -- also stars Dom DeLouise, Farrah Fawcett, Jack Elam, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Jackie Chan, Roger Moore, Peter Fonda, and many more well-known celebrities from back in the day. The only other ensemble comedy in the same league was Spielberg's "1941"(1979). Enjoyed the reaction, thank you!
I was in the Army stationed at Ft. Clayton, Panama and we didn't have cable in the company day room and only got the armed forces channel and they showed this movies like 10 times over the space of a few days and the soldiers absolutely loved it. I must have seen this movie 4 or 5 times and boy did I also love it and laughed my butt off. Plus people my age loved Sally Field from Gidget and the Flying Nun and we all loved Burt Reynolds who was a big movie star back then. :) . Oh my army enlistment was completed, I went through college ROTC received a degree and Officer's commission and when I finally came back in the army as an officer, a new 2LT and my first car was a brand new that year Trans AM. I guess this movie made an impression on a young soldier!
Very cool you did this review with your dad! I was 9 years old when my MOM took me to this movie in 1977. This move and Star Wars are the best movies I have ever seen! I have always loved Trans Ams and Kenworth's ever since!
Coors beer was not pasteurized (and had no preservatives added to it), meaning it had to be refrigerated constantly from bottling to consumption. Because of that, the fairly limited capacity of mobile refrigeration of the day, and the company's desire to ensure its product retained its quality all the way to the final consumer, it was only available on a regional scale in states relatively close to the brewery (which were all west of the Mississippi River). There are conflicting accounts as to whether it was truly _illegal_ to transport it east of the Mississippi, but at any rate Coors did not move to a nationwide distribution system until the mid 1980s. This movie did so much to boost sales of the Pontiac Trans Am that the president of General Motors pledged to send Reynolds not just one, but a brand new one every year for life. Unfortunately, said company president died five years later, and the new president decided that "for life" pertained to the former boss and not to Burt Reynolds. (If memory serves, Canonball Run was Jackie Chan's first Western film appearance. It's a very fun movie & definitely a spiritual brother to Smokey and the Bandit.) Final fact: It is literally impossible to listen to the theme song ("East Bound and Down") without smiling. ☺ 🚗🚓 🚚

Part of the reason this movie included so many driving stunts was to provide work for his friends that were stuntmen. Burt Reynolds and him went on to do several other movies together. Including one specifically about stuntmen called “Hooper” which also included Sally Field. They were an item in real life around that time. 18:35 That really was Burt Reynolds screaming, “Don’t hit the kids!” The car lost control a little bit because the grass was wet. The parents got a little freaked out by it but the kids thought it was a blast.

The issue with Coors beer east of Texas was they didn’t pasteurize the beer back then so the shelf life was short and had to be refrigerated. Places back east didn’t have licenses for the beer in their state hence it being illegal to transport for selling. The interesting thing though is they weren’t transporting the beer for commercial use. Big Enos wanted it for a personal party. Truckers hated this movie when it first came out due to the fact that people started getting CBs in their vehicles and bugging the truckers when they were working. If you looked at the speedometer they were going 110 kph. She didn’t read the mph. Jackie Gleason got them to add the character of Junior so he had someone to talk off of when he was in the car. A lot of his stuff was adlibbed. The actor that played the bike cop “Evel Knievel” was Sonny Shroyer who played Deputy Sheriff Enos Strate on the Dukes of Hazzard tv series.
When I was a kid during the summer we got $1.50 coupons from the paper and went every weekend to the movies ALL DAy every weekend. That summer my brother and I and a couple friends saw Smokey and the Bandit and original Bad News Bears like 35 times.
Definitely do The Cannonball Run, ha ha! With your dad, too. It would be Interesting to hear a bit more about all the famous people in it. Also, it has the best intro ever in a car movie!
18:39 you can see as they are going towards the team bench area, that the back wall is made of brick, but the next shot of them busting through it, it’s wood!
As recently as the 2006-2010, it was still pretty useful to have a CB radio. Enough truckers were still using them for you to learn about police and wreck locations, road conditions, etc
If you're a trucker, or anyone else who spends a lot of time on the freeway, CBs are still really useful. I've avoided a lot of tickets and accident scenes just by having one. They're worth their weight in gold.
@@bongodave13 I haven't had one in 10 years, but the real-time warnings about road conditions were worth it by themselves. Especially during hurricane season when there's blocked roads across my whole state
I was lucky enough to pick up a special edition dvd that had quite a bit of bonus content. One thing I remember Burt Reynolds saying is that his reaction to Big and Little Enis’s outfits was the most visceral he’d ever had. It was the first time he’d seen them in character 😁

Burt Rynolds and Jackie Gleason did the majority of their own driving. The scene where Jackie Gleasons car was clipped by the Semi, Jackie Gleason was driving. And we truckers do still widely use CB's. Mostly for traffic updates. and crowded truck stops, callas for help and the like. To get information from other drivers if you haven't been to certain area yet. Oh one more thing. Jerry Reed did drive the truck. Also the motorcycle cop played Enis on Dukes Of Hazard.
There is an annual (and thoroughly illegal) Bandit Run road race. Drivers race from Atlanta to Texarkana, buy Coors beer (just a sixpack will do) and return to Atlanta in the fastest time possible. One trick the racers do is buy out all the Coors in the store, so later racers have to drive farther to find some. 😄
There is also an illegal coast to coast Canonball annually as well. They set faster records every year or so, which is wild considering how long they are driving fast illegally.
I just bumped into your reaction. I'm so glad you did this with your dad so he can explain some of what was going on and what into movies of that era. I'm part of that era as well. I saw this in 1977 with my father and for months my brothers and me was going around quoting Jackie Gleason's Sheriff Justice quotes, much to our mother's disdain. MY personal favorite: "for some reason, you sounded a little TALLER on the radio" to Sheriff Branford, followed by "what the HELL is the world coming to?" As African-Americans, at that age, we understood the context of those statements, and it was the funny as sin. When it came out on VHS, I watched it so often I practically wore out the tape. Do more with your dad. In fact, "Cannonball Run" is another must-watch. He's right: it's a Who's Who of stars of that era. He didn't mention Roger Moore, who at that time was James Bond, taking over for Sean Connery.
Always loved this movie....saw it with mom in the theater when it came out in 77....I was 11 just picked it at random but when she heard Jackie Gleason was in it she wanted to see....she grew up watching him on the Honeymooners...she was shocked by his performance in this most of which he adlibbed
Actually, Sally Field began in the 60's on a tv show called Gidget and went on to star in the Flying Nun. People did not take her serious as an actress until she did a made for tv movie called Sybil, which was about a crazy girl with multiple personality disorder and won critical acclaim for it. During the shooting of this film here, she and Burt were in a relationship that lasted for about 7 years.

From 1965-1975 she was exclusively a television actress, and from 1976 to the present time, she's pretty much exclusively been a star of the big screen. Check her out in "Stay Hungry" (1976). Her two costars in that one are an equally young Jeff Bridges and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

When this came out I was selling cars at a Pontiac dealership. A couple came in and test drove this special edition Trans Am. When we sat down to negotiate, the husband went to the restroom. While he was gone the wife looked at me and said "he just hasn't been the same since he saw that Bandit movie". Easiest sale I ever made.
I remember going to the theater to see this laughing for days after. Jackie Gleason and the T.P. 🤣 and Fred the Bassett Hound 🤣 another funny movie is Cannonball Run 👍
LOL! Wow! This is such a dad pick. The movie that inspired everyone to put a CB radio in their car. We didn't have cell phones then, but we could get on the radio and yell, "Breaker, breaker good buddy. This is thegorn68 coming at ya! Ya got your ears on? Come back." You see, I still got the lingo down.
Back in the 80`s I dated a girl named Nora. She had the same black trans-am used in this movie. She let me drive it and I can say that it was fast!!! She took a new job down state so I lost her but she was a tiger! She was a great girl! I miss her a lot! That car was so powerful you don`t forget the experience. 400 horse power is a trip to experience! I remember her telling me to put the hammer down! It launched me back in the seat! It was unreal how easy it was to drive at 150 miles per hour. It actually scared me to go that fast! I was freaked out! I backed it off right after. The speedometer went up to 160! I almost exceeded the limit. She was as happy as could be that I pushed it. I miss her so much and wish she was still here with me. She was so much fun and so cool to be with. I would love to have one of those cars now but they go for hundreds of thousands of dollars at auctions. I feel privileged to have driven one. It is a fast mofo! That car was a legal race car that people could buy for ten thousand dollars back in the day. Now it is worth much more than that!

Just a quick comment here. I had never seen your channel, but what attracted me was 1) it was Smokey and the Bandit and 2) you were watching it with your dad. It was nice to see your dad explain things to you from the "70s that people your age would not know. I loved the interaction between the two of you This is one the great movies with a truckers/CB theme. I was in high school when this movie came out and was able to see it in the theater. During the "70s many people, including myself, was into the CB craze. There are even songs about it, the one coming to mind is The White Knight. If you get the chance to listen to it, make sure it's the long version of the song. Once again, a great reaction, and I'll be checking out some of your other videos.
My uncle got a Trans Am because of this movie. He had to get a yellow one because the black cars were unavailable. I was in Jr High and saw this in the theater, great flick. Your other options are good movies as well. You should eventually watch “Smokey And The Bandit 2” and “Cannonball Run.” FYI, Smokey comes from the hats many cops wear that look like Smokey The Bear’s, thus Smokey or Bear in CB-talk. Sadly Jerry Reed, Burt Reynolds and Jackie Gleason are no longer with us. RIP. When this was made, Burt Reynolds was voted the sexiest man alive. He did a famous centerfold in Playgirl magazine wearing just his hat.
Cool that you watched this with your Dad. I was still in elementary school when this came out and my parents were getting divorced. My Dad would take me to movies I was probably too young for and tell me not to tell my Mom. Smokey and the Bandit was one of them and I loved it, even as a kid. Thanks Dad!
Jerry Reed was a really nice guy, he played a fall festival concert I attended about 30 minutes from where I live in the late 80s. He was very friendly, down to earth. Just like any normal person.
I remember seeing this in the movie theater when it came out in 1977. Billy Bob Thornton said Southerners don’t consider this to be fiction; it’s a documentary.
One of my all time favorites, Jerry Reed (the Snowman and truck driver), was great also, same for Burt Reynolds, Jackie Gleason, and Sally Fields. Jerry was the singer for all the songs in the movie and songwriter.
This was a film that my dad and I enjoyed together especially every time it came on TV. I think I also saw it in the theater with him but I'm not really sure about that. I'm 54 and was 8 when this film hit theaters, the same year that Star Wars came out. This film's popularity is what allowed The Dukes of Hazzard to be made, which I also watched on TV with Dad, who has been gone since 2017, RIP. Trivia: the motorcycle cop that pulls Snowman over is played by the same actor that played Enos on Dukes of Hazzard. I like this idea of watching movies with family members. It reminds me of all the fun I had showing my son's favorite films from my past. My wife is from the Atlanta area so is familiar with a lot of the locations for this film, which was filmed all around Atlanta despite supposedly being a trip to Texas and back. In fact, the Coors warehouse was actually in Conyers, Georgia where my wife's stepdad worked and he is buried near where the bridge jump happened, which is now where a big subdivision is at now. Also, the town center that Bandit hid in was actually in McDonough, Georgia. I have a request: watch Hooper, which has the same former stunt coordinator director with Burt and Sally plus other recognizable stars from that era. It is about a movie stunt performer. Another good Burt movie is Stroker Ace with Burt as a Nascar driver that also stars Loni Anderson, Jim Nabors and Ned Beatty whom Burt was also in Deliverence with.
Sally Field was a child star long before this, starring in The Flying Nun (yes, it was a hit lol) from 1967-70, and appeared in many movies, but this was her first major motion picture role. She has carved quite the stellar career, and stayed clean.
A couple of movies that you and dad might enjoy, also has Burt Reynolds and Sally Fields is Hooper. He can probably point out several well known people that's in it. And a classic Jackie Gleason movie called The Toy.

I actually saw this before I saw Star Wars (they came out the same weekend, and well... you couldn't get in to see Star Wars because the lines were so long. And, honestly... I didn't know that Star Wars was going to be my favorite movie.) At any rate, this movie is fun. It's designed to be fun, and it is. Cars, and speeding, and pretty girls. (I'll tell you what, though... Sally Field... I grew up with Sally Field. She was originally Gidget on TV. And, then, she was the Flying Nun. So, very wholesome. I'm looking at her IMDB. She did a lot of stuff on TV and some movies, but the next thing I remember her in was Sybil, a made for TV psycho-drama about multiple personality disorder. Then this... I like Sally Field. I mean... I really, really like her! :) She's good, and I've always enjoyed her work. Of course, she always had a girl-next-door vibe.) Burt Reynolds? Manly man... Man Manly. Manly. Yeah... I never thought about how Pedro Pascal looks like him, but now I do. He has a fun cameo in Mel Brooks' Silent Movie. (Well worth the watch, if you're interested.) So... yeah... this was a fun movie. I found it funny and ironic that Dad said this film came from a time when they didn't care about making Part 2 and Part 3 and on and on, when this film has a Part 2 and a Part 3 - and Burt only cameos in Part 3 because Cletus becomes the Bandit! 🚓
Amazing. I can't wait for this. Love seeing generational interpretations. I was 6 when this came out but, back when I was 12 or so, this was one of those movies that would be on TV quite regularly. Definitely of its time...
Of the 7 movies in this franchise (3 theatrical, 4 made for TV) this one is by far the best made. But my personal favorite is one of the TV movies, called Beauty And The Bandit.
Cannonball run, smokey and the bandit, the blues brothers and smokey and the bandit 2 - the Original and the best when GTA/NFS Hot pursuit were in movie form and all done practically with real vehicles. Gotta love the good ol days 👍😎👍

I saw this movie, the sequel, Cannonball Run 1 & 2 all on the same day with my grandpa when I was little. That was the only time I watched any of them, but now that I've watched this reaction, now I want to watch all four again. This movie came out the year my dad was born, and he grew up with these movies thanks to my grandpa. I haven't watched any Burt Reynolds movies since my grandpa died. I forgot how much I love Burt Reynolds' laugh. 🏎🚓 And he did a bunch of movies with Dom Delouise. I can only think of four at the moment, "Cannonball Run," "Cannonball Run II," "Smokey and the Bandit II," and they did voices for "All Dogs Go to Heaven," but I know there were more. My Grandpa was a big fan of them both. I'd absolutely be down for more reactions with your family. Any of them! 😃
Sally Field has been acting since she was a teenager in the 60s. One of her shows was called Gidget another one was called the flying nun. Yes the flying nun. My sister and I loved that show.
Wow, a smokey and the bandit review in the modern era. Not complaining though, hope she enjoys it. This is one of the many trucking movies that spawned a whole culture in the 70's and 80's. There are many who have rebuilt both the car and the truck (twin stick garage seems to be the latest in Canada) in good detail. RIP Jerry Reed and Burt Reynolds...
The " Screaming Chicken " Trans Am sold 4 x the Camaro for the first time ever after this movie , the 6.6 Trans Am was the last hero car that made real power in the late 1970s , all the Trans Ams in the movie were Oldsmobile 403 ci Small Blocks , and T350 autos , and still smoked both back tyres every time !

CB stands for Citizens Band. These were very popular in the 70s. Originally they were used by truckers as a way to communicate with each other but eventually people started installing them in their cars as well.
Always loved the original Smokey and the Bandit myself, ever since I was first introduced to it as a kid. Every time I watch it, I end up humming/singing the songs for days afterward, and usually, when I watch this or any movie from the 70s, I find myself wanting to watch more movies from the 70s.🚓

A true classic. I met Burt at Bubba fest in pigeon forge Tennessee in 2018. He was really sick and unfortunately passed away a few weeks later.

When I was a kid during the summer we got $1.50 coupons from the paper and went every weekend to the movies ALL DAy every weekend. That summer my brother and I and a couple friends saw Smokey and the Bandit and original Bad News Bears like 35 times.

18:39 you can see as they are going towards the team bench area, that the back wall is made of brick, but the next shot of them busting through it, it’s wood!
As recently as the 2006-2010, it was still pretty useful to have a CB radio. Enough truckers were still using them for you to learn about police and wreck locations, road conditions, etc
Radios would be easier to use than cell phones, I would think even now.
@@kaiielle Most truckers still use CBs and they can still be purchased at most truck stops or big box stores. They are essential!
If you're a trucker, or anyone else who spends a lot of time on the freeway, CBs are still really useful. I've avoided a lot of tickets and accident scenes just by having one. They're worth their weight in gold.

I was lucky enough to pick up a special edition dvd that had quite a bit of bonus content. One thing I remember Burt Reynolds saying is that his reaction to Big and Little Enis’s outfits was the most visceral he’d ever had. It was the first time he’d seen them in character 😁

Burt Rynolds and Jackie Gleason did the majority of their own driving. The scene where Jackie Gleasons car was clipped by the Semi, Jackie Gleason was driving. And we truckers do still widely use CB's. Mostly for traffic updates. and crowded truck stops, callas for help and the like. To get information from other drivers if you haven't been to certain area yet. Oh one more thing. Jerry Reed did drive the truck. Also the motorcycle cop played Enis on Dukes Of Hazard.
There is an annual (and thoroughly illegal) Bandit Run road race. Drivers race from Atlanta to Texarkana, buy Coors beer (just a sixpack will do) and return to Atlanta in the fastest time possible. One trick the racers do is buy out all the Coors in the store, so later racers have to drive farther to find some. 😄
There is also an illegal coast to coast Canonball annually as well. They set faster records every year or so, which is wild considering how long they are driving fast illegally.
Writer/producer/director Hal Needham was a stunt man. Burt Reynolds was a stunt driver and did his own stunts.
I just bumped into your reaction. I'm so glad you did this with your dad so he can explain some of what was going on and what into movies of that era. I'm part of that era as well. I saw this in 1977 with my father and for months my brothers and me was going around quoting Jackie Gleason's Sheriff Justice quotes, much to our mother's disdain. MY personal favorite: "for some reason, you sounded a little TALLER on the radio" to Sheriff Branford, followed by "what the HELL is the world coming to?" As African-Americans, at that age, we understood the context of those statements, and it was the funny as sin. When it came out on VHS, I watched it so often I practically wore out the tape. Do more with your dad. In fact, "Cannonball Run" is another must-watch. He's right: it's a Who's Who of stars of that era. He didn't mention Roger Moore, who at that time was James Bond, taking over for Sean Connery.
Always loved this movie....saw it with mom in the theater when it came out in 77....I was 11 just picked it at random but when she heard Jackie Gleason was in it she wanted to see....she grew up watching him on the Honeymooners...she was shocked by his performance in this most of which he adlibbed
Actually, Sally Field began in the 60's on a tv show called Gidget and went on to star in the Flying Nun. People did not take her serious as an actress until she did a made for tv movie called Sybil, which was about a crazy girl with multiple personality disorder and won critical acclaim for it. During the shooting of this film here, she and Burt were in a relationship that lasted for about 7 years.
Sally Field was 30 when they filmed this. She looked like she was 20 until she was about 40.

From 1965-1975 she was exclusively a television actress, and from 1976 to the present time, she's pretty much exclusively been a star of the big screen. Check her out in "Stay Hungry" (1976). Her two costars in that one are an equally young Jeff Bridges and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

This has always been one of my favorite movies. And I definitely recommend "Cannonball run" over "Smokey and the Bandit 2".
Of course, a Classic Movie, The father & Daughter reaction was was absolutely remarkable, glad you both were able to enjoy it. Wish more family's were like this.

When this came out I was selling cars at a Pontiac dealership. A couple came in and test drove this special edition Trans Am. When we sat down to negotiate, the husband went to the restroom. While he was gone the wife looked at me and said "he just hasn't been the same since he saw that Bandit movie". Easiest sale I ever made.
I remember going to the theater to see this laughing for days after. Jackie Gleason and the T.P. 🤣 and Fred the Bassett Hound 🤣 another funny movie is Cannonball Run 👍

Back in the 80`s I dated a girl named Nora. She had the same black trans-am used in this movie. She let me drive it and I can say that it was fast!!! She took a new job down state so I lost her but she was a tiger! She was a great girl! I miss her a lot! That car was so powerful you don`t forget the experience. 400 horse power is a trip to experience! I remember her telling me to put the hammer down! It launched me back in the seat! It was unreal how easy it was to drive at 150 miles per hour. It actually scared me to go that fast! I was freaked out! I backed it off right after. The speedometer went up to 160! I almost exceeded the limit. She was as happy as could be that I pushed it. I miss her so much and wish she was still here with me. She was so much fun and so cool to be with. I would love to have one of those cars now but they go for hundreds of thousands of dollars at auctions. I feel privileged to have driven one. It is a fast mofo! That car was a legal race car that people could buy for ten thousand dollars back in the day. Now it is worth much more than that!

Burt Reynolds was a Stunt Man/Turned actor... so he did most of, if not all of his stunts.. including the driving! He could really drive like that!! :) 1 last thing... YES... This is one the great movies with a truckers/CB theme. I was in high school when this movie came out and was able to see it in the theater. During the "70s many people, including myself, was into the CB craze. There are even songs about it, the one coming to mind is The White Knight. If you get the chance to listen to it, make sure it's the long version of the song.

My uncle got a Trans Am because of this movie. He had to get a yellow one because the black cars were unavailable. I was in Jr High and saw this in the theater, great flick. Your other options are good movies as well. You should eventually watch “Smokey And The Bandit 2” and “Cannonball Run.”
FYI, Smokey comes from the hats many cops wear that look like Smokey The Bear’s, thus Smokey or Bear in CB-talk.
Sadly Jerry Reed, Burt Reynolds and Jackie Gleason are no longer with us. RIP. When this was made, Burt Reynolds was voted the sexiest man alive. He did a famous centerfold in Playgirl magazine wearing just his hat.
Cool that you watched this with your Dad. I was still in elementary school when this came out and my parents were getting divorced. My Dad would take me to movies I was probably too young for and tell me not to tell my Mom. Smokey and the Bandit was one of them and I loved it, even as a kid. Thanks Dad!
Jerry Reed was a really nice guy, he played a fall festival concert I attended about 30 minutes from where I live in the late 80s. He was very friendly, down to earth. Just like any normal person.
I remember seeing this in the movie theater when it came out in 1977. Billy Bob Thornton said Southerners don’t consider this to be fiction; it’s a documentary.
All of Jakie Gleason's ( sheriff Buford) were ad libbed. The director had so much respect for him he let Jakie have free reign.

One of my all time favorites, Jerry Reed (the Snowman and truck driver), was great also, same for Burt Reynolds, Jackie Gleason, and Sally Fields. Jerry was the singer for all the songs in the movie and songwriter.
This was a film that my dad and I enjoyed together especially every time it came on TV. I think I also saw it in the theater with him but I'm not really sure about that. I'm 54 and was 8 when this film hit theaters, the same year that Star Wars came out. This film's popularity is what allowed The Dukes of Hazzard to be made, which I also watched on TV with Dad, who has been gone since 2017, RIP. Trivia: the motorcycle cop that pulls Snowman over is played by the same actor that played Enos on Dukes of Hazzard. I like this idea of watching movies with family members. It reminds me of all the fun I had showing my son's favorite films from my past. My wife is from the Atlanta area so is familiar with a lot of the locations for this film, which was filmed all around Atlanta despite supposedly being a trip to Texas and back. In fact, the Coors warehouse was actually in Conyers, Georgia where my wife's stepdad worked and he is buried near where the bridge jump happened, which is now where a big subdivision is at now. Also, the town center that Bandit hid in was actually in McDonough, Georgia. I have a request: watch Hooper, which has the same former stunt coordinator director with Burt and Sally plus other recognizable stars from that era. It is about a movie stunt performer. Another good Burt movie is Stroker Ace with Burt as a Nascar driver that also stars Loni Anderson, Jim Nabors and Ned Beatty whom Burt was also in Deliverence with.
Sally Field was a child star long before this, starring in The Flying Nun (yes, it was a hit lol) from 1967-70, and appeared in many movies, but this was her first major motion picture role. She has carved quite the stellar career, and stayed clean.

Thank you for the watch. It's been a long time since I saw this. I saw it when it came out. I actually saw this before I saw Star Wars (they came out the same weekend, and well... you couldn't get in to see Star Wars because the lines were so long. And, honestly... I didn't know that Star Wars was going to be my favorite movie.) At any rate, this movie is fun. It's designed to be fun, and it is. Cars, and speeding, and pretty girls. (I'll tell you what, though... Sally Field... I grew up with Sally Field. She was originally Gidget on TV. And, then, she was the Flying Nun. So, very wholesome. I'm looking at her IMDB. She did a lot of stuff on TV and some movies, but the next thing I remember her in was Sybil, a made for TV psycho-drama about multiple personality disorder. Then this... I like Sally Field. I mean... I really, really like her! :) She's good, and I've always enjoyed her work. Of course, she always had a girl-next-door vibe.) Burt Reynolds? Manly man... Man Manly. Manly. Yeah... I never thought about how Pedro Pascal looks like him, but now I do. He has a fun cameo in Mel Brooks' Silent Movie. (Well worth the watch, if you're interested.) So... yeah... this was a fun movie. Thank you for sharing it with us. It was nice meeting your Dad. I'll look forward to meeting the rest of the family when they consent to being on the channel.

I found it funny and ironic that Dad said this film came from a time when they didn't care about making Part 2 and Part 3 and on and on, when this film has a Part 2 and a Part 3 - and Burt only cameos in Part 3 because Cletus becomes the Bandit! 🚓

Amazing. I can't wait for this. Love seeing generational interpretations. I was 6 when this came out but, back when I was 12 or so, this was one of those movies that would be on TV quite regularly. Definitely of its time...
Legendary Movie that is a must watch. Simple, Funny and an all star cast.
Of the 7 movies in this franchise (3 theatrical, 4 made for TV) this one is by far the best made. But my personal favorite is one of the TV movies, called Beauty And The Bandit.

Cannonball run, smokey and the bandit, the blues brothers and smokey and the bandit 2 - the Original and the best when GTA/NFS Hot pursuit were in movie form and all done practically with real vehicles. Gotta love the good ol days 👍😎👍

I saw this movie, the sequel, Cannonball Run 1 & 2 all on the same day with my grandpa when I was little. That was the only time I watched any of them, but now that I've watched this reaction, now I want to watch all four again. This movie came out the year my dad was born, and he grew up with these movies thanks to my grandpa. I haven't watched any Burt Reynolds movies since my grandpa died. I forgot how much I love Burt Reynolds' laugh. 🏎🚓 And he did a bunch of movies with Dom Delouise. I can only think of four at the moment, "Cannonball Run," "Cannonball Run II," "Smokey and the Bandit II," and they did voices for "All Dogs Go to Heaven," but I know there were more. My Grandpa was a big fan of them both.

Sally Field has been acting since she was a teenager in the 60s. One of her shows was called Gidget another one was called the flying nun. Yes the flying nun. My sister and I loved that show.
Wow, a smokey and the bandit review in the modern era. Not complaining though, hope she enjoys it. This is one of the many trucking movies that spawned a whole culture in the 70's and 80's. There are many who have rebuilt both the car and the truck (twin stick garage seems to be the latest in Canada) in good detail.

The " Screaming Chicken " Trans Am sold 4 x the Camaro for the first time ever after this movie , the 6.6 Trans Am was the last hero car that made real power in the late 1970s , all the Trans Ams in the movie were Oldsmobile 403 ci Small Blocks , and T350 autos , and still smoked both back tyres every time !

CB stands for Citizens Band. These were very popular in the 70s. Originally they were used by truckers as a way to communicate with each other but eventually people started installing them in their cars as well.
At the time, hauling Coor's East of the Mississippi was illegal because the Beer had to be kept cold.

Sally was 31 when she did the movie. The movie was filmed entirely in Ga. Back then Coors beer wasn’t sold east of the Mississippi like it is now.

Always loved the original Smokey and the Bandit myself, ever since I was first introduced to it as a kid. Every time I watch it, I end up humming/singing the songs for days afterward, and usually, when I watch this or any movie from the 70s, I find myself wanting to watch more movies from the 70s.🚓
