For me "The Noonwitch" by Dvorak is missing. It has a dark poem behind it, and if you know about the story and think about it while listening it's terrifying...
ooh yes ! very interesting video ! Mazeppa is my preferate symphonic poem by Liszt. I love all the symphonic poems by Strauss : "eine Alpen Symphonie", "ein Heldenleben" and "Zarathoustra" are without a doubt in my top 10 !! :-) ( I love deeply "eine alpen Symphonie" as I m very fond of Bavaria, Austria, Munich, Salzburg, Berchtesgaden, Konigssee ...) thanks ! you have not forgotten Sibelius !! :-) I love of course "Finlandia" but also "Karelia" "Pohjola's daughter" "the return of Lemminkainen" and others ! I like ""the Hebrides" but I prefer "la fée Mélusine" (in french ! :-)) ) by Mendelssohn. do you consider "pavane for a dead princess" by Ravel as a symphonic poem ? because it s one of my preferate pieces ... it moves me highly each time I m listening... it s very amazing : you ve forgotten "Sheherazade" in your top 10 ? ;-) it s in mine ;-) of course I have to keep "ma vlast" (Moldau is the most famous :-) ) ... perhaps it s surprising : I register in my top 10 a piece which is for me a real "symphonic poem" : "Tales from the viennese woods" by Johann Strauss son ;-) I love so much Vienna and the nice places around like Baden (where Beethoven spent many summers) do you know the beautiful places in Austria and Bavaria (where a lot of composers were living) ? :-)

Wonderful selection as always. Do you like Les Préludes by Liszt?
Thank you, Grant. Yes, I love Les Préludes and actually debated between Mazeppa and Les Préludes for the list.
Melodious Heart it’s a toss up really!
@@grantwoolard It is, indeed!
