Thomas: I hope that you understand that (this is coming from a native Utahn) that your story does NOT have to match mine as a life-long member with pioneer heritage, etc. You and I are both converts, if that makes sense. I'm converted to the gospel, too. And as a church member, your heritage now includes those early pioneers. Don't dwell on the differences, dwell on the things that allow us all to be unified. Listening to you talk about the gospel, I want to tell you that you are DEFINITELY on par with other church members (your testimony and knowledge blends you in perfectly) and you don't have to worry about that. You hit the ground running! Total respect!

Thank God being a member of the church does not require someone to move to Utah!!

As a lifelong member of the church, I LOVE to hear experiences of converts. Thomas, thanks for sharing! And thank you for having faith to follow Jesus Christ and to enter into that covenant!
I'm glad you have tangible reminders of why you decided to be baptized, and you can re-live and remember those spiritual experiences. Converts like you are an inspiration to me! Onward on your journey on the covenant path!

It's refreshing to hear that someone has read about most of the 'anti-mormon' minutia and realized that it's not what a testimony is built on. That it is about Christ.
Amazing that he went and found out before even talking seriously to anyone, missionaries, other members, etc. It appears that he was lead every step of the way in finding the truth and joining for the right reason. Jesus Christ.
    Ditto...welcome to the fold.

    Loved your story!
Isn’t it such a blessing that we can gather information, critically think, study it out in our minds, but ultimately rely on the Holy Spirit to testify to our souls of truth? We don’t have to rely on man.
It is impossible to invalidate the power when the Holy Spirit leaves an imprint in your soul, and the joy and peace that expands the mind and soul with light.
God is so good to the humble sincere seekers of His truth.

Is this not the religion teaches polygamy and force people to pay 10 percent of earnings and drive people to be controlled by the leadership??? Sorry for young people like you. When Jesus died on the cross He saved us all from confirming to any worldly authority because there was no other prophet came after Jesus and saved our souls from that bondage. Jesus sent us the Holy Spirit as our Helper, Our Counselor, and to know Him we can pray and ask in Spirit. No human can grant you salvation, but Jesus. This is not the way- You are too wonderful children, but read the Bible. (not the Moment bible)

You might be talking about other religion, these guys are member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and nothing of what you asking is happening in this church, please get your information directly from the source. God bless you

Most of your questions are twisted stories told by people. You should speak to missionaries if you truly desire to know truth. From your comments I can see you are someone who desire to know what’s true and suggest you seek out the the whole story. There’s so much more knowledge of God and Jesus Christ than in today’s so called Tratitional Christianity. I’m getting older and still excited about my close relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ and all he has provided for us to learn and prepare for what’s to come! God bless

No. It's the Christian Church that teaches monogamy as the usual standard but does also have a doctrinal explanation for all that polygamy in the Bible. No, this is not a religion that forces you to pay 10 percent, this is the Church that teaches the same principle that Malachi from the Bible taught, that everything we have truly belongs to God, and we ought to give some of it back to him. No, this is not a religion that drives people to be controlled by leadership, this is a Church that follows the principle of Ephesians, which is a book in the Bible that says to build our foundation on apostles and prophets as well as Jesus. Why both and not just Jesus? Because Ephesians says Jesus is the one who gave us apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists, and so on.
This is a Christian Church that actually teaches people to rely on the Holy Spirit as their witness of what is true. Not the prophet, not the missionaries, certainly not my silly comment. We teach them to trust God himself to tell them what is true through his spirit, which means they can test it on anything. You can read the Bible and know it's true. You can read the Book of Mormon and pray and ask in spirit to know it's true. Then your faith is really from the Holy Ghost and not from your Pastor's Sunday Bible sermons that tell you not to trust yourself, just trust me, the Pastor. Don't read the Book of Mormon and check for yourself, just trust me when I call it evil. And that's exactly what you just did. Are you certain your faith is coming from praying and asking the Holy Spirit for answers?

Mal, I love your love for Jesus Christ as well as your concern for Daniel. I am also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints like him. I can tell you that I love the Church because of how it helps me to enrich my own very personal relationship with Jesus. I have been both with and without the Church and am so thankful to be in the Church. Part of what you are saying is right; there can be a temptation for some at times to focus too much on the Church instead of on Christ in the Church. I think that many of the things you said reflect a simple misunderstanding of what members of this Church believe. Above all and before anything we believe Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, the Redeemer of our souls, our Friend.
Please remember that it was priesthood holders with the spirit of prophecy and revelation in the Church who wrote down their testimonies, instructions, encouragement, and teachings, some paying the price with their own blood that even allows us to have a Bible in the first place. Without the Church, without Apostles, without men with authority (not worldly authority but Godly authority in the world) we would never have even had the chance to learn of Jesus and His mission and His teachings. With much love for you and all who love the Lord Jesus Christ, please have a good day.
