      Thank you. I may not always be able to show you something new but hopefully there is something of interest to you in the videos.

    Hi Robin, I've been perusing through your videos at will, and I must say, there is a lot of useful information and very well explained. Thank you. On a side note, watching another video, I realised that you are 'the' Robin Steve O'Nions mentions repeatedly on his videos! I had no idea! I've been following him for years! (never left a comment on his channel though!...the shame! LOL).
    In any case, thanks again! Cheers, Ray.

      I'm glad you find the videos helpful. And yes, that is me in Steve's videos. We've been friends for a long time, well before we started doing RUclips. We've been going on regular photo trips together for years.

    a very good tutorial as usual and inspirational, any chance of one with the same effects using affinity photo?

    • @RobinWhalley
      @RobinWhalley  Год назад

      This is quite difficult to do and make look realistic in Affinity Photo. This video, whilest about turning on lights using Affinity Photo uses a technique you can adapt: ruclips.net/video/yhpMu_wTCv4/видео.html Try watching this and then applying it to an image to create the light beam.

    Off topic but just curious to know if you still use ACDsee or have switched completely to the Adobe suite on MacOS? Thanks for your videos, I find them very useful.

    • @RobinWhalley

      I haven't used ACDSee for a long time although I like to revisit from time to time for videos. I then switched from that to iView initially but then to Lightroom. I started using Lightroom to manage my images around 2008 after Microsoft replaced iView with Expression Media. I have too much time invested over the years to switch my Library management away from Lightroom.

      @@RobinWhalley yup. Just thinking about the sheer effort of it is discouraging. I picked up ACDSEE to check if it (plus Backblaze) could replace LR subscription but finding it pretty tough to move out. Ok. Cheers!

    Thank you Robin, you just saved me a lot of trial and error. I had an idea that some combination of Radial and Linear Gradients were in the 'ingredients', but did not know the 'recipe'. Also. I never would have thought of using clever your 'single click' auto mask technique. I probably would struggled with intersecting a brush mask with a color range.
    Are you still shooting with M43 cameras? If so, any M43 content planned for future video (either post processing or shooting technique related)?

    • @RobinWhalley
      @RobinWhalley  Год назад

      Great to hear. Yes, I do still shoot with a M43 camera (Panasonic G9) but my main camera is a Fuji XT5. SOrry, I don't have anything specific planned in the way of M43 videos but I'm very happy to consider ideas.

      @@RobinWhalley Thank you for the reply. Perhaps you have already covered this subject, but any workflow and processing tips on maximizing the technical quality of M43 images are appreciated. I typically start by balancing the exposure and WB in Lr before sending the file to Topaz PhotoAI to address any noise and sharpness issues and then finish with local edits with masks in Lr, but I'm sure there are other approaches. Also, I know you don't do gear reviews, but as a fellow M43 landscape shooter a 'what's in my bag in 2023' would be interesting. Thanks for all the great content on your channel.
