For the story, i leave closed to the Mont Saint Michel (40Km), it’s a magic place, especially when you are going there in the winter, or really early in the morning. You can be alone, enjoying the place.
The sand around Mont Saint Michel moved, so if nothing was done, in few years Mont Saint Michel would have been ending in the middle of a field and not any more in the sea.
So they start some work to let the Mont Saint Michel in the sea, and 20 years later it’s now almost finished.
January 2015, we had some big tide in France, so it was one of the first time that the Mount was going to be an island again.
I ask all the drone permit to do it at the big tide, and few weeks later i got all the paper.
I was following closely the forecast, and at the beginning of the week it was just storm and rain… and finally two days before the “D “Day, the Weather forecast somehow became super nice, clear, no wind at all, super cold.
So the first morning i went there at 5am, walk all the way to the Mount, and wait at the bottom. The water came slowly, and the Mount became again an island, it was very intense, the sun came out, few people were there, and i had a strong feeling to be privileged. I start the drone, and enjoy as much as i could.
I never thought a place like this actually existed it’s like a fairytale
France man
It is actually the castle from tangled so it'a definitely a fairytale

Samuel Munoz unless it was welded to the top before the whole spire was put up...still a pretty good feat. It’s such a beautiful place I never knew existed!
So ... in the dark ages that obscurantist,
ignorant and superstitious civilization produced architectural jewels like that, Something that no modernist architect can even imagine how to start drawing.
The statue was built there in its place.

@@VidarrKerr Not ones made of stone.
It's funny isn't it, that with all the weatlh and knowledge we have today, we make buildings and cities that looks like ugly rectangular blocks of concrete or glass, that have to be demolished in half a centry, while some hundred, or a thousand years ago, you built things that lasted (with mantenience of course) and that were incredibly beautiful.
Happens when man is motivated by higher aspirations
Modern architecture can be really beautiful too. Also there are plenty of old buildings that are very ugly and only extraordinary because they're old. It's not about old vs. new. It's about efficiency vs. beauty.
not exactly
Today's buildings are based on Budgets and finances. We still have some iconic architects out there. Late Zaha Hadid, Norman Foster etc. Plus it is no longer easy to build such large castle without environmental impact. Trying to build these today would create major issues. It was easy when you were the king and wanted a bigger fancier castle. No one could stop you. No one had to approve budgets and no one to protest environmental impacts
@@sydj32 well I don't think I would call greed an higher aspiration.
Vive la France 🇨🇵
I've been to Mont Saint-Michel several times as a kid and I can just tell you: this place is just unreal. My mind was blown every single time. That said, it is some of the technically less intricate monuments I've seen in France. I can just recommend you to visit the cathedrals of Chartres, Reims, Amiens, Beauvais and Metz. These experiences have changed my life forever. If you have been to northern France and didn't come back being in awe of what people in the middle ages accomplished, something is utterly wrong with you.
Oooh
I don't think the beauty here is because of the complexities of man-made art and architecture. I think the beauty here is more about the contrast of a single man-made structure painted against the background of pure and empty nature. A single point of something in the infinite nothing. A metaphor for our planet in the vast emptiness of space; a single point of life.
I sometimes wonder if angels did not aid in building these marvels. They have been noted to have helped in certain projects. God alone knows which ones.
@@museluvr An archangel certainly did aid for this one !
Hadn't Saint Michel appeared to Saint Aubert and ordered him to build the Mount, there wouldn't be an Abbey there.

Thank you for your professional testimony. I agree: i have plaid this video maybe 10 times in a row and i forward it to my friends ! And i'm frenchman, from Normandy. I have been there several times as a kid with my parents. This place still my number one in France. It is a magical and spiritual place. When you are there, you feel energies from those Middle-age builders, loving God so much that they could spend all their money and their lives to engrave the Glory of God in stones... This place is Blessed
This place is a real time machine. All the buildings just brings you back in the Medieval times.
And it's epic.
Beautifully shot and edited! That spire on the top would've never been really seen before in that detail.

This is from an age that engineers and architects had the inspiration of god and they were sure that their work will last for centuries for future generations as a legacy.
Sadly there aren’t anymore such passion and inspiration, now is the generation of tiktok.
I'm living an hour away from this beauty and I never get tired of it.
Everytime I go to see the Mont I kinda get emotional. It's a timeless masterpiece of art.
Like being in a Time Machine! Is the cost of living within those area’s expensive?

Hodge Hill Girls School. BIRMINGHAM. UK. “Mont San Michel”.
I once visited this beautiful place, having never heard of it. I found myself at this incredible location due to a series of events that took place during the month of June, 1983.
A friend and I had recently celebrated our 18th birthdays, and we booked a camping holiday near to the French, Brittany town of Cancale.
The day of departure from BIRMINGHAM coach station, saw us aboard a double decker coach. We sat aloft. On the journey out of the city, a housing estate captured my interest. The estate lay to the right of the motorway, I saw a working man´s club, petrol station, small shopping precinct and a large secondary school perched on the hill overlooking the estate. I also noticed particular homes and their neat front gardens.
We arrived at the camp site, located on the outskirts of Cancale. We soon discover that there was a group of school girls on an end of term cultural trip, also at the camp site. They told us they were from Hodge Hill Girls School, Hodge Hill, BIRMINGHAM. They had arrived in two mini vans, so I guess there may have been approximately 20 in their party.
The girls were aged 15 and 16. Instincts kicked in, and so did the only game in town.
My friend and I somehow got invited by the teachers, to accompany them all on a day trip. We must have appeared to be reasonably safe and respectable. We travelled at the very rear of one of the decrepit mini buses in a couple of spare seats. We had no idea at this point where we were heading. We supplied the teachers with Tape Cassettes, and were soon travelling through French country side listening music of the band of the day “Japan”.
We eventually arrived at Mont San Michel, and we began our pilgrimage against gravity. We slowly meandered up through the cobbled streets, taking in nearly all of the gift shops, until we eventually arrived at the summit, in the company of our new friends. Lunch time came around, and we all ate in the grounds immediate to the Abbey. The views was spectacular. The company was very lovely and 1983 school girl esc.
I can still visualize where we sat to eat, and with whom we sat. I sensed that something very synchronistic was taking place.
The holiday ended, and my friend and I returned home. Part two of this story commenced after receiving a phone call, from one of those delightful young ladies. I would later learn that the housing estate that had caught my attention was home to most of the girls and the secondary school on the hill was their school.
I have tears in my eyes.
Isn't the tide around here just wicked fast? Anyway, this is one of the most hauntingly beautiful fortresses/churches anywhere on Earth. A place I want to see some day.
Yes, it's fast. There used to be a parking lot just next to the Mont. Tides would come in and floods cars within minutes.

Alien pyramid technology
It's the Aliens man...with flying saucers and shit
It is not a simple Angel, It's a site of Pilgrimage for warriors all around the world since the crusades as it's a place in the name of Archange Saint Michel. Leader of the celestial militia of the angels of Good, he is mainly represented at the end of time (Apocalypse / foundation of the Kingdom of God) as a winged knight sauroctonus, who defeats the Devil during the war of the angels, and with the scales of the weighing of souls on the Judgment Day, judge and guide of the salvation of souls for Hell or Paradise (symbolic allegory of the final victory of Good over Evil).
