- Today I have returned to one of my old stomping grounds to see if there are any fish still living in this roadside ditch. This place used to kick out some really quality sized fish and I actually caught my PB Spotted Bass from it! It's very cold out but let's see if we can find a hot bite! Did I notice you using a Lifted jighead????? I used to use them religiously!!! Now I use Tackle Tactics and I'm glad I did!!!! They make em the way I like it. Going out in the morning. Tomorrow is supposed to be really warm
When hwy.90 was being put through from Patterson to Lafayette, they dug barpits perpendicular to the road to build it up. It didn't take long, plenty of fish and good size. A cotton mouth was easing its' way through the cat tails, all of a sudden the water exploded. Seriously, water went up at least 10'. I never seen such a massive action before or after that. Which there were 5# mudfish. Put it this way, after the huge burst, most the water settled, then droplets came down like rain. Big thing is, an at least 2' cottonmouth was slowly strolling the cat tails real peaceful like, everything was calm. Then a huge eruption, as said biggest I ever saw to date. There was a snake and then not a snake, it was gone.
The newspaper in Ruston, Louisiana told of a fellow cleaning a bass, where he was bit by a cotton mouth that the bass had in his belly..
Fish and snakes eat each other. Another out of the ordinary, about a 2' cottonmouth carrying at least a 1-1/2# catfish about 6" above the water. Truthfully more like 2#'s, where my dad exclaimed, would you look at that? It was a sight to see. I mean it really was, where it's one if I were told I'd be thinking of those that always build a story up, but I was there. How could that cottonmouth carry such a larger fish 6" above the water, I have no idea. Where did the snake breathe helium??? Where my dad said probably 3 or 4 times, maybe more in an excited tone, Would you look at that. Again, it was a sight to see.
Which there's good fishing on barpits dug out to build up roads and such. Nice thing about these in S. La., they were perpendicular and went straight in, leaving all the surrounded trees, so there was a nice shade covering it as well as extending to the bank. Makes it a little more comfortable in the summer heat.

It should be just the cole channel because jay is irrelevant nowa days, i understand that shes with the kids but it seems that its only cole fishing and its getting rather boring . I know im gonna hear gripe for my comment but it is what it is.
