Renault Megane MK2 Headlight Bulb Change - VERY EASY 5 MINUTE BULB REPLACEMENT

- A big deal is often made of changing bulbs on a mk2 Renault Megane, but the only tool needed is a car jack, and access is actually quite good via the access holes in the wheel arches.
For me, the biggest problem is pushing the pin in the holds the lamp in place on the passenger side (UK).
I can't get ehough leverage to push it from the wheelarch, and there is no line of sight from top to push it with a chopstick or something like that.
Eventually I get it out, but that single part of getting the clip usually takes me around 20 minutes.
Same goes for re-attaching the rubber cover on the driver side part for the front sidelights and main beam.
My technique is to fold it out like a sock, put it in place, and then allow it to fold back over the circular hole.
Absolute pain though. Especially for someone like me who prefers to use high performance lamps, which absolutely DO blow more often.

So here I am watching this video and I just realised when I saw the reg it’s my car I bought it a few months ago lol
Lol I hope you get on with it better than I did! Fun until it breaks...which is often
I’ve owned a couple before and for some reason changing this bulb has been difficult to my last 225 and now the spring that holds the bulb in place has come out. Now a couple of faults are showing up, engine miss fire and something to do with the catalyst converter but regardless it’s a fun car to drive
@@b14nger Make sure you use premium fuel in it, it has the 98 RON Fastchip map on it, might be causing misfire if not

No word of a lie... she was also my car at one point! Do the rear windows still not work? I also had to fashion a temporary handbrake lever button from a piece of dowel and an old o ring as a 'temporary' solution but it worked so well I left it!
Great memories of driving to Borth, Wales in it, these cars are absolutely made for roads like that!
Sounds to me like this motor been through more hands than a crackheads push bike lol 😂😂😂
Doesn't work for the indicator light. Can loosen it, but it won't come out, from wheel arch, or from the bonnet. Have you got a solution for that.......!!!
An angle grinder will make short work of any annoying body panels in the way. You can then use a hammer and chisel to fit the bulb. Hope it helps 👍

What can I upgrade my headlight bulbs to
Hi All, Anybody has already tried to put instead of traditional halogen bulb, led bulb to low beam h7? Was the project image proper, could you please advice any product which is compatible? I have a 2008/12 Renault Megane II 1.4 16V. Thanks!
Had to remove the headlight on a BMW E60 to change bulbs so the germans are no better

video is crap. Just by looking at his indications I can tell thet the guy never replaced any Megane mk2 headlight bulb.
You didn't show shit. The most difficult bit are those clips holding the bulb in. I took the whole front panel off, so I could get the light assembly out, so I could see what am I dealing with. Took me half an hour to figure it out.
You did it wrong.
My lights don't have that clip that holds the bulb in, so it's practically impossible to change the bulbs without removing the headlight units since you have to jam a screwdriver into the socket. :( Thanks anyway.
I literally have the same problem the person who had the car before me had attempted to glue the bulb in lol
I can get my hand to it via top without moving battery but I can't seem to tug it out. Didn't realise access point underneath so am going to try that. Don't think I'll have dexterity though
Pay Halfords £8 let them have the hassle
Haha I tried that and even they said they can't do it
They are not obliged to do it. They'll just give you your money back
@@dandtdavies3999 no ones obligated to do anything, but they would look stupid if gave money back and said can’t do it 😂😂😂
@@ez3817 I must say, I take it all back. Popped into H as a last resort, plus explained car was tricky. Young bloke managed to get hand in and sort it. No battery removal etc. Great. He seemed to enjoy the challenge of various cars.
PS two other mechanics had failed to do it (without loss of face) without removing the battery, which I was reluctant to do as I don't have radio code. My car does not have access via wheel arch so might be slightly different model etc
Easy!....Its a sod of a job as you do it blind
Megane 3 is a doddle to do...
Dead easy. Driver side piece of piss. Passenger side, remove the battery.
What a bad headlights design
Terrible design decision by the French. Horrible job I’d rather pay the £60 that deal with this shit just to change a bulb.
It's common on most cars these days.
This job is a piece of pizz.
Stupid stupid design!! That is ridiculous
After owning a few Renaults now it's really not that bad. P.s. this is actually my old car.
What if.... You have xenons? Big N O. This is only trouble with theses sorts of videos it falls short and will have people getting caught or bitching to a mechanic. And that mechanic will give don't listen to anything online attitude. This is not doing anyone any favours
Pretty straight forward... if you have xenons then this video isn't for you.
@@skylined5534 best quote it at the start of the video in your dialogue as it is misleading, and your causing people to believe differently. You look like a bully with that reply mate
@Michael Bailey
You look like an idiot with your comment and reply to me *mate.*
dont buy 1 of these stupid crap cars
I know m8. But if I had the money I would buy the Volvo but I got this car for 120 euro. So here I’m with lamp change 🤷🏻♂️
@Sonic dildo
So what car do I buy then? Incidentally this is actually my old car and other than circumstances dictating what I did at the time I'd have another like a shot. The RS225 is a superb car.
