Love the new 5FTs. Work mates always forget for 3 or 4 weeks, so can convince them to get back into it. Will help build up to BGWs/DGWs (making the wildcard less powerful) and therefore i see us all using the WC a different times, which i like. Im all for it
The only reason the 5 transfers have been brought in to stop people dropping off during the season. It really depletes the importance of the other chips, that's why they've added a chip.
I think 'depleting' the power of a WC is a good thing. Usually we'd all end up using the WC in the same GW... 5FTs allows us to use the WC on more subtle/minor fixture swings. Variation of WC will be a good thing IMHO
@@bannnnner problem is that those that are lucky to avoid injuries (or bad picks with unexpected benching) will build up a 2-3 free transfers the first rounds and be able to play a early WC to catch juice fixture swings, which agains can allow them to bank even more free transfers and then have a mini-wc ready when needed, while the rest will struggle to catch them up. So having a good start becomes a lot more important as those that do have the possibility to have nice bank of free transfers and are able to play a lot more freely. with their remaining chips. Combine this with fewer doubles and blanks and they engaged managers who end up with a bad start will struggle all season (and can end up packing it in).
Glad the FPL content is back Ross! I think your team is a 7/10. Having no Arsenal and City players seems pretty wild. Everton defender could be good with Mykolenko at 4.5M. Sanchez (I think he's the starter as of right now) looks like a steal 4.5M GK. I know you're a United fan, but just doesn't seem like a good fixture run in the first 5. Can't wait to continue to chat about teams and strategy as the season comes closer on.
I agree with your 5 transfers thought process. I did hate it because I lose my edge against the more casual members of my leagues... However it could benefit me. I can afford to take short punts because I can get more players out. I usually plan for ~5 weeks ahead, but those plans always get blown up my rotation or injury so now I can target a shorter run of good fixtures and get players out easier without taking hits
Idea for more content Ross!: Boost your mini league and followers by putting a seriously interesting price on winning it. Only followers are able to win the price and no ‘pro’s’ allowed. Maybe you can even sometimes make some content over/ with the people that are top 5 or that had the highest score that round. Could be a fun way to interact with your community even more, as I think that is were your strenght lays. Good luck this season and enjoy!
@@FPLRaptor If we start the season well Armstrong up front could be a good option on set pieces and lots of good 5m mids like Alcaraz smallbone aribo that if are nailed are quite attacking so could be a good enabler. Glad I could help love the vids!
Ross mate you have been missed!! Thanks so much for the help getting us in the right direction for a successful FPL season. Will look forward to the content throughout the season 😃
Decent first draft. 7.5/10. Will need a stronger bench though. Injuries were brutal last year and you will want to work towards a mini wildcard with the FT.
Can I ask why you haven’t mentioned Son in there with Foden Palmer and Saka ?? He scored more goals than Foden and Saka last season . His points was up there too
I think the biggest benefit of the 5 rolling transfers is that it allows them to price Haaland so highly and still allow people to not have him and change your mind. With just 2 free transfers it would have been VERY hard to start without Haaland, but now I know I have more transfers available it makes the risk of going without him more worthwhile. So I actually think it's the opposite of boring in that without this just about everyone would have had Haaland in the team, (because it wasn';t worth getting it wrong and then not being able to fix it), but now you can get it wrong and then fix it if you so wish. I should point out that I'm not an experienced player of this game, (so take this with a pinch of salt), but it certainly helps me to feel more engaged and in control.
In my opinion, it adds strategic interest but in reality, it won't have a huge impact on the overall outcome. I think much more important is not losing transfers over the Free Hit and Wildcard plays. Injury insurance to the max.
the thing about the banking 5 transfers is the same as it was before- you have the choice and chance every week to make decisions to get first overall. you cant blame the game when the rules are the same for everyone tbh
Any thoughts about Brighton’s Yankuba Minteh, Amario Cozier-Duberry and Ibrahim Osman, Crystal Palace’s Daichi Kamada, Brentford’s Igor Thiago, Wolves’ Hee-chan and Rodrigo Gomes, Leicester’s Caleb Okoli, Ipswich’s Conor Chaplin and Omari Hutchinson and Southampton’s Kamaldeen Sulemana and Yukinari Sugawara?
My problem with the 5 free transfers (agree no active manager is really going to build up 5 free) is that early in the season I like to pick a few pretty aggressive/ risky players in my team knowing that there aren't a lot of injuries early in the season so I cans till make changes if its a disaster. Now the worry is that those who go mostly template, and the template works pretty well, are then immediately at a points advantage and can also save 2,3,4+ transfers to be more adventerous later. So while I like a bit of risk and aggression it feels like the benefits might be less and the penalties for getting it wrong are twice as bad. 🤷♂️
I’ve done Flekken, Saliba Dalot Branthwaite, Palmer Saka Salah Kamada Bailey, Watkins Isak as my first 11, with Konsa Johnson Fraser + Turner. Thoughts? Quite happy with it
If City and Liverpool didn't have Ipswich GW1 and GW2 I wouldn't go with salah and haaaland However, I think it might be good to just captain them both in these fixtures then wildcard in GW4 if things are too imbalanced with the rest of the team. Other good teams with cheaper assets have good fixtures as well like Nkunku, Bailey, Morgan, Andreas, Gibbs-White, Wood etc The only issue is that 3 games isn't really long enough to decide whether Haaland and Salah aren't worth it on the wildcard (Haaland could easily bang 3 goals in other fixtures). Having 5 transfers to roll this season makes reorganisation easier though. Here are my teams for GW1 and the WC team in GW4... GW1 team 4.5m keeper + Virginia Konsa Andersen Burn Robinson Bellis Salah(C) Nkunku Gordon Bailey Johnson Haaland(C) Isak Wood GW4 WC team 4.5m keeper + Virginia Trent Gvardiol Porro Burn Bellis Palmer Foden Saka Gordon Andreas Watkins Isak Havertz
I think u forgot to look into everton defenders , everton got 2nd most cleen sheets last season , i'd like it if u talked abt everton best options in the next video!
Interesting first draft ... but I'd add more Arsenal & Man City players. I'm starting with a midfield of Palmer, Foden & Saka, with Watkins & Mateta up front, and Gabriel, Walker & Porro defending
There is a good fixture swing for City and Liverpool around GW18 plus Arsenal and Chelsea (United?) have a good run of fixture too. Banking 3 transfer at the beginning of the season and saving 2 closer to GW18 could be use as a mini WC. An idea would be to Wild card GW12, remove some Liverpool and city players with bad upcoming fixtures and and then bring them back in GW18. It's FPL, so nothing goes to plan but its good to think ahead.
2 major issues of FPL, few chips and dead teams. adding another chip and more transfers helps ppl recover from a bad stretch of injuries or sudden lineup changes. For involved managers it's more flexibility and less pressure to follow the herd or get left behind.
Good to see you back. For now I have Haaland Salah Isak Gvardiol. No 10m bracket and no arsenal spurs utd. 5 pen takers if pedro is an enabler. The no Haaland squad looks interesting after Ipswich though!
I'm completely indifferent to banking up to 5 trasnfers. But retaining them after playing a chip I'm not in favour of. I always associate Man U with pace, and though a good player, Zirkzee will slow the pace up
Hi Ross, great vid as usual...Just want to get your thoughts on my first draft: (3-4-3) Pickford/TAA+Burn+Dunk/Eze+Salah+Gordon+Palmer/Watkins+Isak+Edouard (Subs: Sanchez/Soucek (or any 5m mid)/Gusto+Taylor). Interesting thing about the 5 transfers is you can save them up over the course of 19 weeks then spam them all out following/before the first wildcard
