It's interesting that the movie title itself "Doomsday" is obviously Green, but "Secret Wars" is cleary colored Gold and Red (just like Iron Man!).

No matter how much it is explained. The simple fact is the casting screams of Marvel desperation, and also bringing in someone new would have breathed fresh air into the franchise and helped other actors out there. Making a variant of Stark detracts from Doom (master of magic, ruler of a country, genius, etc.) to make the character branch on his own terms. It would be good if they have this be a red herring to get the real Doom cause that could work. We shall see.

He was actually an EXCELLENT Dr. Doom casting, just needed a better storyline and film. Same with the guy that was Mr Fantastic in that as well. That whole cast was good just needed better movies...though their films were okay for the time they came out though...

Yea originally but then it was changed to doom just having a scar on his face. He’s so vain that he covers his face from himself because to him that scar is unacceptable. The mask being “melted” was the OG Doom tho.
But regardless I agree that he shouldn’t be walking around with his face out because either way DOOM wouldn’t do that.

Ive wanted doom but i do agree that we have like no time to develop his character properly. we are basically at the tail end of the current timeline and the doomsday clock if you will is ticking. This gives us what we want while still being able to have a proper fleshed out doom with build up in the future

At the end of Loki, they mentioned that the TVA was going after the Kang variants. It seemed like a tacked-on line of dialogue to explain it all away.

And why would they create an overcomplicated Tony Stark variant Doom story when they could simply give us the real Doom, based on the comics..?

It’s also possible that RDJ plays doom in prosthetics and makeup so he looks nothing like himself when the mask is removed. I highly highly doubt this is what’s going to happen but it’s possible.
People aren’t gonna like this no matter how it’s spun or what they take from the comics because they wanted to see RDJ come back as iron man period so the err gonna be upset about this.

No, to me the characters are the stars, not the actors. Macbeth for example has been played by so many actors, and everyone gets to put their own flavor on it and make it their own. And the audience gets an endless plethora of different interpretations of the timeless Shakespeare story.
The same needs to happen with comic book characters.

I’m going with the belief that Doctor Doom is a Tony Stark variant for several reasons… the Avengers: Secret Wars logo has the color way of Iron Man. Doctor Doom had “Doom bots” so maybe the real Doctor Doom will reveal himself. There’s no way that they would be able to hide the secret of RDJ being on set if he were to return to the MCU so this reveal has to be some type of a switch. I don’t think that RDJ is playing Victor Von Doom but would be a variant taking on the moniker of a Doctor Doom.
There is a comic where Doom switches bodies with tony stark in college. They could do a version of that but instead of Tony in Dooms body winning the conflict, it's Doom in Tony's body that comes out victorious and travels the multiverse. After the dust settles at the end of secret wars The true Doom could be revealed.
I'm kinda skeptical about where Tony Stark swapped in Victor's body since it seems like they both need a body for it to make sense, which is what's confusing

The multiverse concept is so played out that it's just become lazy writing. If they tackled this a different way instead of the way that the MCU has, I would be a lot more excited about it. But given all the other multiversal films excluding Deadpool, it's just lazy and a cheap way to cash in on nostalgia.

Remember in Civil Wat, when Tony presents BARF to MIT, that’s Tom Holland playing young RDJ, and quite well. I think Doom will be a mocap performance, all RDJ, but Victor in live action will be someone else.
